I appreciate this property’s old world charm and history, the location was quiet and the host/owner Diogo was super attentive. There was no toaster, so when I mentioned this he bought one, accompanied with a nice bottle of champagne. I enjoyed the serenity and hearing the cows, birds and goats nearby which really relaxed me.
I stayed for 7 nights, which in hindsight, wasn’t the best idea. The two-bedroom apartment I stayed in didn’t have a washing machine or an oven. Just a rusty 2 stove burner and a microwave, which limited what I could buy at the grocery store. Also there weren’t any bowls, only plates which meant I couldn’t eat cereal. The biggest issue I had was the heavily accumulated dust on the concrete walls as well as throughout the apartment. As an asthmatic I really struggled with this. When I first arrived there was a dirty towel left in the bathroom, and a dead rat in the little courtyard which was removed 3 days later. I didn’t have a car, so I was restricted to the little village outside the accommodation, though cute and friendly with a couple of excellent eateries, but after 3 days, it became dull. There’s no ceiling fans, or any type of fans. Summer time in that place would feel like a sauna. The upstairs fly screen in my bedroom had a good sized hole that allowed the flies in. There’s no TV so if you don’t have a laptop, you’ll be insanely bored. The WiFi cut out a lot, so I really did feel like I was cut-off from the whole world - which is fine for three days, but definitely not a whole week.

What an amazing property – a greatly loved historic monastery that has been in the same family for seven generations. On arrival we were met by the owner, Diego, and he explained the history of the property and the farm. He is such a welcoming host and passionate about the house, its history and cultural significance.
We stayed in a double room in the main building. The bedroom had a queen size bed and there was an ensuite bathroom. We also had use of a lovely lounge area, traditional library and outdoor seating areas. There is an ‘honesty bar’ where guests record what they drink – such a great idea.
Continental breakfast was also included and was a real treat to sit in the amazing older part of the property for breakfast.
For dinner we walked to a local restaurant in the village - recommended by Diego and certainly a lovely meal and great service.
This is such a special property and we loved our stay. We would definitely stay here again.
It would have been good to have a fridge in our room.

This 900 year old property is meticulously preserved by the proud owner, as it’s been in his family for seven generations. The place is a jewel with beautiful rooms filled with antiques. especially enjoyed having tea in the library, floor to ceiling with ancient and new books, at least one of every language. Thank you Diego for a wonderful stay.
A bit secluded and hard to get to, but it’s part of the charm.

Breakfast was very good and value for money. The apartment was satisfactory and plenty of room
Cooking facilities were very limited as only a microwave and a two ringed portable hob. The bathroom was continuously wet due to condensation.

Quinta do Campo is such a special place. A peaceful escape from the crowds, a museum unto itself, amazing warm, welcoming owners, great breakfast. Close to visit the beach at Nazare and the beautiful town of Alcobaca.

Diogo, the owner, was absolutely wonderful! Very welcoming, showed us around the property, shared the history of this wonderful place. The main building is like a palace and just breathtaking. You take a trip to the past. It was perfectly splendid.
The building is old and it was damp and cold (in January). A few renovations in the apartment would be needed and with this it would be perfect.

Character. What a gorgeous place. The owner Diego and his brother Juan were passionate Portuguese gentlemen and we had great conversations with them at the honesty bar (both spoke great english). We had an apartment with 2 balconies so always got the sun. The place has lots of history and you can explore at your leisure. Secure gates into the grounds next to a little village for evening meals. So good we stopped another night and will return. Breakfast was simple and filling served in an old distillery. 10 minutes from Nazare. Excellent wifi. If you want new and shinny this is not for you. If you want character, warmth, history and peace then this is the place.
Not enough time to stay longer.

the history and architecture were interesting traditional Portuguese
the beds were VERY uncomfortable; soft, lumpy and saggy. we were guests for three nights - ended up hauling mattress onto the floor in an attempt to be able to sleep.

Had breakfast . Make sure to go into the barn and see all the old carriages and farm equipment. I felt like I was in a museum.
Owners of property very warm and welcoming.
My only complaint was the bed. It had a bed pad that was waterproof on the bottom and it did not allow the bed to breath. I think if there was a pillow topper on I
The bed it would have been more comfortable.

Staff was friendly and breakfast at the cellar was very nice.
The rooms in the main house could benefit from some updating.

breakfast was great; location was perfect and close to a little town you could walk to; grounds were beautiful - loved the history behind this family estate. The owners were amazing and so personable and helpful. rooms very big.
it would be great if there was a fan in the rooms and screens on the sliding doors so that a breeze can enter - since there is no A/C. but we understand the older structure of the buildings may not make that an easy fix.
