Confortable beds and the location is amazing 🤩
This is not a Hostel International anymore. So the atmosphere is really different from what you could expect from that kind of place. It has been bought by a private owner and has a different name. Some of the staff don’t speak English and they smoke cigarettes at the reception desk.
I have been to the hostel many times in the past and it’s really different now. Please update the name and infos on Booking!

Extremely helpful owner who was easy to contact and helped answer all of our questions. The facilities were great and included a beautiful balcony area with lots of cool plants and a nice bar area with a pool table.
The surrounding streets were very pretty too.

Nothing
Hotel doesn't exist anymore under the name Old Street Youth Hostel.
Place is also completely run down. Even toilet in room was not working.

The location and size of the rooms were perfect. There were multiple spaces for hanging out with friends and meeting new people. The owners also spoke proficient English and were helpful.
It is clear that the hostel has not been at peak function in a long time. The bar area is dusty and completely unusable. However, it is understandable due to COVID-19's toll.

great location at the old street. friendly staff. spacious room.
not very clean (but acceptable for a hostel).

The hostel was right in the middle of Tunxi so very convenient location to visit the stores, shops and restaurants. The staff were very helpful to me with any questions I had about the area or any other needs.
The first few floors and rooms smelled like smoke and were not habitable for anyone that was not a smoker. There was massive amounts of graffiti all over hostels walls on every floor. There was not a comfortable area for any travelers to hang out and there was no sort of kitchen/breakfast provided.

This hostel is located inside a shop selling souvenirs and is close to the east entrance of the old town.
Has lounge and patio area inside the 2nd floor bar.
Hostel has a 10% referral discount at two nearby restaurants though the menus are only in Chinese and staff don't speak English.
The location is only good if you want to see the old town but most people go to the Huangshan area for the nearby mountain; if visiting the mountain you actually shouldn't stay in Huangshan city as it's a far drive and buses there returning to the city stop running at around 5pm.
City buses don't go directly to the old town so you'll need to be aware of your path and disembark when nearby.
Tourism info for the mountain is mostly in Chinese so you'll need to clarify details with the staff. For example, buses returning from the mountain only go to the nearby train station and you'll need to take a city bus from there to the old town.
Didn't accept my international MasterCard.

Air con in the room was literally broken, that day was super cold! And we asked the staff for solution, they just told us to get the extra blankets BY OURSELVES in the shelf next to elevator's entry. The hotel is unbelievably irresponsible and lack of maintenance. Despite the location is in the center of the old street, it took us around 10 minutes to walk from the bus stop to the old street. IMPORTANT! Please be aware of the bus service in this hotel! At the night before leaving, we paid 90 yuan for bus ticket. Everything seemed normal (staff didn't mention anything extra, only mentioned that there will be a car to pick us up to the bus stop) Next day, they took us to to the bus stop as they promised but we got on an UNOFFICIAL BUS, which is also called us illegal cheap bus. But as hotel said, it is for our "convenience" so they not only let us get on the bus but also have the shuttle service that bring us to the bus stop.
Personally, the experience made me disappointed at this hotel, and I will never recommend anyone to this hotel.
