Traditional stay with friendly and helpful staffs. Snow monkey park is half an hour walk away making it very convenient and there was a Iocal cafe and a restaurant nearby. I was lucky to have the hot springs to myself and needed a relaxing break from the city. I would love to come back.
5.0 / 5.0
Charming traditional Ryokan with beautiful outdoor hot springs. Comfortable bedding, very large rooms with plenty of amenities and close to the Snow Monkey Park, 2 cafes, 3 restaurants and a bus station to travel to other areas. I particularly enjoyed some of the amenities in the room, including a fridge, green tea set and a traditional Japanese yukata. It made the experience culturally enriching.

Location closest to Snow Monkey Park but it’s not worth it. Walk a little bit more to get better service.
There was just a cleaning lady and she spoke zero English. No English signs. NO FOOD which was so misleading from the marketing. Common area was cold and a little smelly. I was expecting some service for the very high room charge but instead was completely ignored. Do Not Stay Here. There were around a dozen bugs in the room on the second night. It was a very unpleasant ryokan-so disappointing that I decided to leave I day early!

The location is perfect if you want to overnight in front of the Monkey park.
Keep in mind that they don’t serve either breakfast nor dinner during low season (winter).
This is the typical old Japanese hotel with Japanese style rooms. Don’t expect much and everything will be fine :)
There’s nothing around apart of two restaurants.
