The San Jose de Puembo certainly a hotel to come back to.

This exceptional hotel is located on a lovely farm with lots of opportunity to walk about the grounds safely. The breakfast was enjoyable with lots of choice. The rooms were clean and expansive. The staff were quick to respond to any questions or requests. When walking the grounds we noted that the hotel is close to the flight path for the airport. However, the rooms were incredibly quiet.

On my next trip to Quito I would choose a superior room as they are a bit better for little extra cost.

Character hotel with historical ambience and plenty of onsite activities

Fantastic character property with extensive gardens which are perfectly maintained. Hotel beautifully decorated for Christmas and very festive vibe including music throughout the hotel. Breakfast was extensive with lots of fresh coffee and orange juice. Staff are trained to the highest standard and discreetly move around the hotel serving guests. Quality of toiletries great, provision of coffee maker and mounted water cooler to help yourself to in each bedroom section is really helpful

I wrote to the hotel 6 times and rang 4 times in advance of my arrival trying to confirm the courtesy hotel shuttle pick up and could not establish contact with the hotel. Staff speak no English except Victor and all calls made in English are deferred until he is available. Swimming pool is not indoors - which makes swimming freezing cold out of summer season. No warm changing areas and towels are not provided. Hotel is based on the flight path for take off for Quito airport which creates a high degree of noise continuously 24/7 - but courtesy ear plugs are provided. WiFi signal was non-existent on the day of arrival and the only option was to perch on bench in reception

The breakfast was very nice. The support staff does not speak English. They had to bring a person from the front desk to translate. Very nice clean rooms. Lots of space. They had bottled water in the hallway for use for brushing teeth and easily accessible. Nice grounds. Hotel transfer to the airport the next day was a nice perk.

The location was good for access to the airport and places outside of central Quito. Our original reserved room was not very satisfactory. However after being moved to a much larger room with a courtyard view we were quite a bit happier. The food was acceptable, if on the slightly expensive side.

Our original reserved room was not very satisfactory. It was quite small and overlooked the wall and street outside the property. That seemed to have been assigned to us because we wanted two beds. However, after being moved to a much larger room with a courtyard view, we were quite a bit happier. There were very few other guests which was not entirely comforting. Language was a problem for us, as very few of the hotel staff spoke much English. The hotel is somewhat isolated out of the small nearby town and so there wasn't really anywhere else to dine.

Exceptional

The setting of this hotel is lovely with beautiful gardens and an abundance of fresh flowers inside and out. Breakfast was exceptional with fresh fruit and juices, “home-baled” breads and pastries, and delicious hot breakfast options—eggs, sausages, tomatoes, etc. We really enjoyed the Ecuadorian specialties available on the dinner menu in the restaurant. Very happy with all aspects of our stay including the free shuttle to and from the airport.

Nice garden and comfortable beds! Good breakfast that is included in your stay. Airport shuttle is also included.

We had construction while eating our lunch. No internet in the rooms but by the next day they had fixed it.

Great place to relax on your way in or out of Quito

An old hacienda converted into a modern hotel very conveniently located near Quito airport, with a huge, lovely garden with two pools, and with alpacas wandering around. Staff are very helpful and charming. We wanted a place to relax and acclimatise on arrival in the altitude of Quito, and San José was just right. It hosts a lot of business and other events, but since the hotel and grounds are so big this didn't bother us.

Beautiful hacienda. Great grounds. Very well maintained. Room very spacious. Beds comfortable. Bathroom big and beautiful. We had hot water but the water pressure was a little low.

Water pressure in the shower At breakfast they serve tea and coffee. It would be better to have it at the buffet
