staff was friendly and the luggage could be kept (with no surveillance tho) in reception after the check out
1. if i hadn’t asked i wouldn’t have known that the check in was at hotel cosmos
2. the hostal was horrible. extremely dirty. dirty bed linen (blood stains among others) dirty bathroom, i couldn’t even take a shower as there were [pub1c] hairs in the shower
3. it was just for a night after portaventura but it was extremely expensive for what we got
4. EVERYTHING could be heard, our neighbours were playing music and talking and i even woke up in the morning because doors were being slammed
5. i saw a bug similar to a beetle

The location was very good and the woman who was at the counter was very helpful in finding location for parking
It was a very very hot day and night. The refrigerator did not work and the fan was too small for the high temperature.

This was our second time booking. The first booking, they gave us a family room (included washer and kitchenette). So in our mind, we assumed that was the basic expectation when booking for room with private bathroom. We got a family room too for our second booking.
The staff requested the room back they gave us (we checked in around noon) in the evening. Citing reasons, they gave us the wrong room and they needed the room for another group. Mind you, our second booking with them cost more per night. They gave us an option to stay in the room BUT we have to pay more than what we already paid for. It was shocking as even other 1 star hotels I've been to, don't do such gimmick. No apology given by the staff. Luckily Booking.com assisted us. However, the hotel staff reluctantly let us stay in the "given" room. They said, eventhough they made an error, they will let us stay in the room as our Christmas gift. Their service recovery attitude is haughty. In my opinion, the hostal was not clear in their booking website. All such inconvenience can be avoided if they had separated the sale of a family room. their tv was not working too, can only get radio channels.

We got the family room. Spacious and got balcony
The big bed a bit fragile. No lift to carry heavy luggages.

The location is great, the staff is pleasant.
Humidity in the corridor and the shower tab is weak.

The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I was able to check in early.
In the hallway there was a strong smell of cigarettes during all days I was there. My room was very small and the half blocked window was only to a inner patio where they hung clothes. The internet was not strong.

The locaton por it and the staff
The ventilation is not enough and the utilites are old.

Perfect location, welcoming staff and walking distance from the center. Can find public parking nearby.

Location wasn't bad.
Check-in at a different hotel - fortunately only 3 doors further down. No elevator for luggage. Most TV channels not working. A mosquito in the room bit me three times. Strange smoky smell in the room. Worst of all, no wi-fi, maybe my fault for just assuming everywhere has it now.

For the location and price, if it wasn't summer, it would still be a very uncomfortable low-end place to stay in, but at least sleeping would be a possibility.
In the summer, with Tarragona's temperature and humidity, it is impossible to actually sleep here due to the heat. The room was a sauna, and it was actually noticeably warmer than the terrace outside, even with the windows open. A fan is provided that produces more noise than air. Adding insult to injury, someone in the room above us kept having a screaming match with herself until midnight, then threw the bath curtains, with the bar and all, out of the window and into our terrace, at two in the morning, waking us up again. This is technically not the hostel's fault, but it is probably representative of the kind of people you'll share a building with and the fun midnight adventures they'll provide.
On less deal-breaking complaints, the room is tiny (no space to open the suitcase except on top of the bed) and the bathroom is too (hope you like pooping sideways, because there's a completely unusable bidet in front of the toilet, where your legs should go), the stairs have no lights, the bathroom has only one extremely dim lightbulb, so you'll shower in darkness, and there is no elevator.
We stayed for one night, then checked out and stayed at a nearby place with air conditioning, where sleeping was actually possible, and had a healthy siesta to recoup our lost sleep from little Dante's Inferno over here. The guy at the reception didn't even bother asking why we left, I guess they're used to it.

Quite area, good location , little balcony
Very rustic and small, might not be for everyone … breakfast was 6.50 euros

It is in the centre.
Noise, noise and noise. Old fashion rooms.

Scamm. It was not mentioned in the advertise we have to pay additional 3 euro for the dog. But the worst part was that they did not return my 10 euro deposit for the key. I asked 5 times for my 10 euro deposit after I returned the key. The first 3 times they said to wait. I waited and I waited and the last 2 times I asked they simple pretend they do not understand english. So when you book this place have in mind its 10 euros more than the listed price. The breakfast was also bad. One fried egg, just one. Stay away from this place

No frills, minimalist hostel - a safe and clean place to sleep, wash up, and tour the city. Close to just about everything. Friendly staff.
