Some cool restaurants in the neighborhood. Try RED and Smokey
Bus to the coast stops in front of the hotel.
Owners supernice ppl. Friendly, helpful. They arrange trips to Yala (highly advised, expensive but worth it) and Bundala
Family rooms are fairly small, but hey its cheap .and how much time you spend in your room?
Wifi quality is poor...

I had an exceptional stay at a remarkable hotel. Its prime location offered stunning views and easy access to attractions. The staff were professional, attentive, and genuinely friendly, making us feel valued. They even helped us book a safari at a great price, adding excitement to our trip. The tastefully decorated rooms were kept spotless, and the amenities, like the fitness center and pool, were well-maintained. The restaurant's food was delicious, and the waitstaff provided excellent service. This hotel surpassed all expectations, combining an ideal location, helpful staff, and unforgettable experiences. Highly recommended for a memorable stay.
Nothing, all excellent

We had a great stay at this hotel. The owner Eba and his wife were both lovely people who made us feel very welcome, they both had a great sense of humour, were friendly and very helpful, wanting us to really enjoy our stay there The bed was extremely comfortable and the bedroom and bathroom though pretty basic were very clean. The air-con and fan worked well. We had dinner here on the 2 nights we stayed we particularly enjoyed the chicken and vegetable chop suey and were grateful that we could eat at the hotel as we were too exhausted to go out.

Surrounded by lush greenery and a lot of shops around. The room is pretty small but enough for a night's stay while visiting the Yala National Park. The owner even arranged the safari for me. It was a good stay.

Would highly recommend here when going to do the yala safari, short drive to safari from here and 1 minute walk to 2 lovely restaurants red and smoky bbq. Rooms are clean and bathroom is clean. Beds are comfortable. The owner Ebert is very helpful and can organise anything you like including taxi to other areas of Sri Lanka you are going. Very good price. Lovely pool too.

Lovely place to stay and start your safari from. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The pool is wonderful to cool off in and to top it off the pets are so lovely, especially the dog. It was a really pleasant experience.
Rooms did get very warm but you do have the option for air con if you want.

It’s a good location.
rude staff, wrong room allocated, told to cancel the booking on booking.com so I couldn’t leave a bad review and it would save them fees. Rooms were filthy with poor bedding, showers didn’t work. Dogs and cats came into the room and with allergies against fur this was not good.

Our room had the most spectacular view of the rice fields where you could spot wild animals such as peacocks, monitor lizards and different birds which was great. The owners were so kind and helpful and arranged the best safari for us, we even saw a leopard! The rooms are basic but have everything you need and the air-conditioning works well. The only thing missing is WiFi so we had to use our data but that wasn't really an issue for a couple of days. The pool was also very lovely! Overall I would definitely stay here again if we return to Tissa.

Very good location, 5min walk to the beautiful lake and perfect for the safari to Yala. The room was very good for this small price; we even got a room with AC even though we accidentally booked one without. The owner is very friendly!
Lot’s of mosquitos so bring the DEET an luckily there is a mosquito net on the bed :)

Location is good
Cleaning service was not acceptable
2.5 / 5.0
The room size is OK and the location is close to the lake and the routes to Yala safari.
The hotel is nearly abandoned. Has been closed for a while and the rooms have not been used or cleaned in weeks, not even to make it ready for our arrival.
The pool is not available as the water is dirty due to lack of maintenance.

The place is cozy, has small but nice and fresh, very clean pool. Everybody has his private place to sit outside the room with table, chairs and light in the evening time. Bathroom is spacious. You get towels here, including a pool towel (the last one you have to ask but it's free).
There is a small shop right to the entrance to hotel, where you can buy water, other drinks, snacks, cigarettes. You can even pay later. They did not have ice cream, so they called a boy working there and he went to further shop and bought ice cream for us.
A very good host, very helpful. The owner even organized a bus for us with A/C and non stop going to Matara on highway. He booked us seats and told the driver to stop near the hotel to pick us. It was a very nice and short trip, the best of all we had in Sri Lanka.
The only thing that we've missed was a wardrobe or any other furniture to put our things.
Also there had to be a restaurant inside the hotel but it did not work because they opened just a month ago after being closed because of covid and couldn't find good kitchen staff yet as the previous employess during closing time found another jobs.
We wanted to get breakfast there but it was impossible. But we've got all required dishes and boiling water so we could make morning coffee ourselves.
Still it was not a big deal as there are two restaurants just in 50-100 m. I recommend to visit the restaurant RED. The food was good, also the place was nice and cozy and the only place playing music. Recommend!

I didn't get the genuis discount, but maybe he didn't know.
