Our family loved this house! So much to do here. The pool and hot tub were such a hit! There is so much outside and inside seating which made it so comfortable for quality family time and meals. We also enjoyed the firepit and volleyball court. The game room in the garage and tv's inside were particularly nice to use during the property's outside quiet hours. It is about 30 minutes to San Diego where we enjoyed Sea World and beaches. The kitchen is well stocked with nice appliances. The grill outside worked great too. They have stocked the house with nice shampoo, conditioner and laundry supplies not just cheap stuff which we appreciated. The beds were comfy (not so much the futons for adults) and we had about the right amount sleepy spaces for our group of 10 adults and 4 kids (all under 8 yrs old) as well as a baby. The hosts are super responsive and kind if there are any issues. One of our kids started quietly crying on our drive home and when asked what was wrong he said, "I want to go back to the vacation house. It was SO much fun!"

The home was perfect for our family. There was always something for the kids to do and plenty of room for the adults to relax and enjoy each other
The only negative was the size of the downstairs bedroom & bath, which we had to occupy because my husband couldn’t do the stairs.

Great. We would stay here again.

Perfect location and close to many attractions. House, pool, yard and rooms are all that is needed when booking for family groups. Plenty of room and plenty of things to do without leaving the house. House could use some major updates and a good cleaning. Other then that it was a great stay.

The house was very comfortable. There were plenty of beds for everyone which was a must. The backyard / pool was wonderful and the game room was awesome.

room for the whole family
The property was clean and in good condition. No major issues. Some minor cosmetic issues — towel rack in downstairs bathroom fell in the middle of the night & startled us and a towel hook in an upstairs bathroom was half screwed into place and fell when a guest hung a towel on it — we fixed both of them with a leatherman, otherwise no issues inside. Plenty of space for a large family to spread out. Outside, there appears to be a water leak that keeps the lawn by the volleyball net muddy. We couldn’t use the grass area of the yard due to this, but the rest of the yard and pool area was available. Plenty of indoor and outdoor furniture to use and plenty of indoor and outdoor games available. We didn’t use the pool since it was cold during our stay. We used the jacuzzi without any issues; the app to control the water features and temp was simple to use. The grill provided a nice outdoor conversation space under a trellis which helped during cold weather. The fire pit was also a nice outdoor space for winter guests. No issues with other indoor amenities — we found the kitchen well-stocked for cooking and the garage arcade was a nice touch.
Checkin was clunky. I had to call the management company and request access to the property after checkin time. Slightly frustrating after driving 8 hours and needing a restroom, but overall a minor inconvenience. I know this happens sometimes but I’ve had dozens of stays at other properties that made checkin simpler and more convenient.
The real reason for deducting one star is the neighborhood. We were in the yard and noticed what appeared to be a neighbor staring at us and the kids and possibly taking video on their phone. I called out and he didn’t respond so we were concerned. I approached and asked why he was recording the kids and he ignored me. I told him we will gladly report perverts and he responded “we don’t like you being here” and walked away. It made half of my family feel uncomfortable to use the yard after that which unfortunately changed the tone of the stay for them. Some of us interpreted his comment to mean he did not like vacation renters, while some took it to mean he did not like people of color. I shrugged it off as petulance but it was an unpleasant experience.
Ultimately we don’t hold the homeowner responsible for bad neighbors looking to sour a vacation stay that cost thousands of dollars. He seemed to be looking to cause a scene and likely will one day. Avoid the neighbors.

This home was very roomy for a big family to stay like ours. It had lots to do and no one was every bored. I will say that the house needs a lot of TLC. We would close the curtains closed so we don't get sun in our eye, the whole rod fell down, grab a towel off the rack after a shower, the whole towel rack fell down, etc. every room felt like it had something that needed to be fixed and there are very limited cooking utensils like pots and pans. The biggest issue we had is that neighbors clearly do not like vacation renters. We had small childeren ages 2-5 jumping in the pool and laughing (in normal volume for being in a backyard) and by 9:05pm (noise ordinance starts at 9pm) we were already getting notifications from the property manager that we were being "loud". We literally felt like we couldn't even be out after 9pm even having a conversation and laugh otherwise complaints would start rolling in. The biggest issue we had was communication, our kids would be playing outside during the day and landscapers/ pool cleaners would randomly show up to clean the pool while they were in it.... I just feel like if they had set days to where people come to maintenance it let us know so we can work around that. We felt uncomfortable and forced to get out and go inside so we wouldn't be in the way of what they were doing. They should post that on the listing so people are aware and not caught off guard like we were. Also there was a misunderstanding with the checkout time and we were hurried out an hour prior to what our original checkout time was supposed to be. It was an okay place to stay, but personally I will not be booking here again.

Excellent place to stay with family and friends.
Plenty of things for adults and/or children to do. Anything and everything at your fingertips to prepare your meals. It was a worry free vacation with a home atmosphere. Definitely would like to do it again some time. The owner was very quick contacting you back for any question you might have.

Escondido home
This is a very nice home, but could use some 'love'. The cabinet door handles need two screws and only one was used; therefore cabinets are scratched. The counter top is old and chipped. Lots of space including beautifully landscaped yard, nice pool and hot tub. We had a great stay!

Beautiful home
We came from Illinois to have our wedding in La Jolla, and rented this home to stay for the week. The house is stocked with most everything you’d need for your stay. Such a beautiful home and the pictures of the backyard don’t do it any justice. Would stay here again.
