The value is good, it was cheap (although not that cheap compared to some Korean motels you can come across) and I appreciate the single beds option, which is quite uncommon in Korea. The free breakfast, although simple, was a plus. The location is good!
The hostel needs renovation and better cleaning. The state of the bathroom was highly suspicious, with what I suspect is a high amount of black mold under multiple layer of pieces of vinyl flooring thrown together (was there a bathtub there before?). The water pressure was also the worst I ever saw in Korea. The facade of the hostel makes it look abandoned, it's full of spider webs.
Also, I only noticed this before writing this review, but the owner of the hostel is absolutely wild in his replies to negative reviews. I honestly would have reconsidered booking just because of that, as I think that some of those replies are really rude and unacceptable

Close to bus stops and bus terminals.
Walking distance to many of the sights.
Good size kitchen area and free breakfast.
There is a bar at the side of the hostel and the staff were friendly.
Bathroom attached to the dorm.
AC.

Great atmosphere, you will meet people from all over the world here. You even get a free beer in the bar next door run by the same owners.
Not too far from the bus terminal and a large supermarket. There are places to try the korean bbq. Nice breakfast.
Maybe some organized activity would be nice too.

This dorm locate in Hwarang-ro , It take me 5 mins by walking form JungAng Market bus stop. In front of the door, there is a black motorbike :))))) It is easyly to recognize from far away. Stair is big, and large space.
In common space I have quickly breaksfast with bread, jam, milk, cereals, and coffee.
From here, I can go to Daerungwon, Tombs, Gochyon village, .... by walks.
I booked one bed in a dormitory for 4 person. Room is small than I imagine. There is no lights on bed. In room have cabinet, hairdryer,

Central location | towel/shampoo/soap provided, hot shower | good WiFi | AirCon in dorm room | functional kitchen | breakfast provided, 8-10am (bread/jam, cereal/milk, REAL coffee) |
Large, permanent puddle in bathroom depression, despite floor mat, stand in water to use sink, not very hygienic (room 204) | mattress felt and sounded like bare springs |

The bar was very nice, lots of people go there at night from the hostel. The rooms are comfortable and everything is clean and tidy

Close to all the tourist sites
Each room has a bathroom
Staff need training/educating. When I arrived before check in time to drop my bag off, I asked a staff member what she recommended I see. She couldn't think of a single thing and pointed me in the opposite direction to where everything is. When I checked in, I asked the manager where the train station is so I could book my ticket, he didn't know where the train station was!
Staff seemed more interested in socialising with each other than helping/interacting with guests.
Breakfast was basic and staff began packing up at bang on 10:00am, even when guests were still eating/using facilities.
The reviews promote a great atmosphere, but that was non-existant when I was there - but that comes down to who is staying there at the time.

I had a fantastic time at the Hostel. Kaze, the owner, is super friendly and has good energy which made the place feel very welcoming and social. You can tell by his personality that he's been travelling for many years. We had some great talks. The location is perfect for those who want to be centrally located. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The hangout area is huge and relaxing and offers many things to do. There is a big kitchen that you can use, which is really nice. The staff and also Kaze's friends are very friendly and inviting. I recommend Doobaki for anyone who wants a chill hostel experience.

The check-in was quick and easy. There is a breakfast available in the morning, you can use the fridge and the kitchen for your own use. There is a room underground to play games or read. The beds have curtains and the room as AC, a fan, small lockers, and a hairdryer. The hostel is nicely located with a street market a few steps away.
There is no key for the bedroom main door (but there are lockers inside the room) so the door is never locked. It often happened that people were opening it. I don't know if it's the cleaning crew or people mistaken but it doesn't feel safe to see your bedroom door opened every hour.
There is only one table for the breakfast and it's easily crowded considering how many people can stay at the hostel. There is not enough room for everyone.

The location is just perfect, around the corner from the main sights. The room was spacious enough, everything was clean. and the staff is very nice and friendly.

Located five minutes from the city center and comfortable beds without curtains unfortunately. Staff is friendly and they offer free breakfast
There was a drunk person in the common area disturbing several guest which was quiet uncomfortable and staff didn’t said anything or removed him from the hostel whilst he was clearly not staying there

Excellent, quirky hostel in the historic town of Gyeongju. The owner has created a wonderful environment for travellers and backpackers, with a seriously well-equipped common area/kitchen and a chill-out basement that is just so cool. Rooms are basic but tidy and clean, bathrooms likewise. Plus there are two cats! No complaints.

Great place for backpackers. It is good value, lovely owners and located near bus stops and the bus terminal. The decor is dated and breakfast is basic (but there's peanut butter!) however these help keep the costs low. The volunteers working at the hostel were also nice. The kitchen was well-equipped and there will never be a shortage of plates there. Spacious basement lounge area.
It's on a main road so be prepared for traffic noise.
Wifi was temperamental.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Doobaki Hostel in Gyeongju for three nights, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. The host, an amazing person with a wealth of stories, made me feel incredibly welcome from the moment I arrived.
One of the standout aspects of Doobaki Hostel is its sociable atmosphere, making it easy to connect with fellow travelers and make new friends. The common areas provided the perfect setting for engaging conversations and shared experiences, fostering a sense of camaraderie among guests.
Cleanliness is crucial for me when choosing accommodation, and Doobaki Hostel certainly didn't disappoint. The facilities were spotless, and the attention to detail in maintaining a clean environment was evident throughout.
Located in the heart of the town, the hostel's location couldn't have been better. I was within walking distance of many attractions, restaurants, and shops, which made exploring Gyeongju a breeze.
Another highlight was the delightful breakfast served at Doobaki Hostel. Starting my day with a good meal set the tone for an enjoyable day of sightseeing and adventure.
I highly recommend Doobaki Hostel to anyone visiting Gyeongju. The warm and welcoming host, sociable atmosphere, cleanliness, and excellent location all contributed to making my stay truly memorable. I can't wait to return in the future and create more cherished memories at Doobaki Hostel.
Motorcycle man! Thank you again!!!! 🇲🇦🙏

This was a great hostel, with a very helpful staff, free coffee, and free breakfast. It was also the cheapest hostel in the area. Most importantly, it felt like a real hostel and I met other cool travellers there.

First of all, they changed my bed and threw all my stuff on it . crazy But I didn't complain...
At night after a small problem in the dorm, the owner became very agressive and immediately called the police
He wanted also to call my embassy, block my passeport. Etc
When the police came he pushed too much to try to fire me.
At the end the police understood and i had a private room for free.

so good~highly recommended!

Excellent interior, vibe, theme and location.
Doesn’t really operate like a traveller’s guesthouse. The host isn’t flexible at all, services are of a guesthouse but the rules are like those of hotels.

The manager is amazing. He gave great recomandations and he care about having fun and feel comfortable.

An amazing guesthouse! Super comfortable and clean with a great location and perfect breakfast!!! The owner Kaze really has a great sense of hospitality and has the cutest cats! We absolutely loved this guesthouse and will come back for sure!

The boss is so lovely! He's a traveller himself and has lots of interesting stories to tell. We have drinks together at night and it seems like he really built this place to create somewhere with this conviviality vibe where travellers can meet and exchange stories. He's also consciously keeping his prices low so that backpackers like himself can travel low budget. He's such a nice person!
