Exceptional
I arrived here at the end of a 3-week trip through Albania and North Macedonia. I'm really glad to have rounded off my journey at Etno House Shancheva. It was really nice to come here as a solo traveller, and occupy a room actually intended for lone backpackers. I was the only guest, but the family were super-friendly and I was able to talk, eat and drink with them. Soulful times. I really loved Kratovo and staying here was a big part of why I enjoyed the place so much. It felt personal. l loved the spoonful of honey each morning! Also loved the crazy kittens, and all the insight into archaeology, food, Yugoslavia and local history. I felt like I was in very good company here. Thanks for the memories.
This is an old house with plenty of character. Rustic. This guesthouse might not suit everyone, but for me it was just perfect.

Homely, wonderful hospitality in Kratovo. Feel like you are part of the family.
The owner's and family's hospitality was extraordinary. The small details in attending with us in the main quarter and offering local bites of food was greatly appreciated after a long trip. The walking tour through Kratovo explaining it's history was another highlight. Driving up and parking may be a small issue for some. Please call the owner before hand, as they come to the main road to guide you. They also assisted with parking the car at their property. All in all they made the a hard task simplified!

Great old traditional house (300 years), great welcoming hosts. Clean new shared bathroom. Located in the center but very calm place. Have a parking place
Just be aware, that it might be difficult to drive next to the house with bigger car -it is better to leave the car at lower public parking, 100-200 meters from the house

A fabulous experience. We took up the host’s offer of an excellent tour of Kratovo - we definitely recommend. He is very knowledgeable about the history and culture of the area.

Superb
Stevce and Jakim provided wonderful hospitality in this interesting old house. The location is perfect, the decor is museum-like with old furniture and accessories. Stevce demonstrated his famous salt-making, and I took advantage of Jakim's walking tour of Kratovo. The room was cozy and warm, and the cups of tea, cfruit, and nuts were a nice treat. Jakim is always happy to join guests for a drink, recommend restaurants, and share his knowledge about the region.
I was a little disappointed that no meals were provided, though that was clear from the booking details, and from what Jakim said it hasn't really been sustainable to serve breakfast regularly. The bathroom is a little rustic, and you share it for the family, but this is understandable in such an old property.

Superb
The owners of Etno house are very welcoming. Greeted us with fruits, drinks before we checked in. Both are very hard working people. The son who deals mostly with the guest since speaks english gave an excellent tour of town of Kratovo all included in the cost of accommodation. They are currently renovating to include bathrooms in each room. Kratovo is a beautiful less known out of the way town, would highly recommend visiting this town and staying here.
Shared bathroom, but renovations being done to have private bathrooms.

Superb
The house is fascinating, like a living museum of life in rural Macedonia. The family who run it are very friendly and totally dedicated to their work in Kratovo.
Nothing. For the price and the ethos of the accommodation, you cannot expect high levels of luxury.
