I was happy with the room, not the people staying there

Good location, helpful staff, well appointed room

Extremely loud yelling & swearing by women up to 10:50pm Smoking at front door and along walkway Unclean cooking surfaces

Disappointed

The shower drain was clogged, I had to unclog it myself. The room smelled cigarette. A lot of noise outside which didn't let me sleep.

Overpriced and low quality.

Location was good.

Shower didn’t work. Room and walls were dirty. Light was broken. Walls were thin. Other guests were blasting music and Smoking weed all night filling other rooms with the smell. Price was high for a backpackers, but quality didn’t match.

Was put off - what was advertised did not reflect reality

The long ramp up to the room, and the back entrance on the Main Street which was advertised as the main entrance.

Good

The accommodation was close to the center and the woman who works there was really friendly even if I saw her only once. The room was old but clean. You can do your laundry there.

The smell of the smoke... and it's true that there is a bar or something close and people have party until 3am. The kitchen is not really clean.

A new low

The staff member was lovely enough to offer us free cancellation when she saw that we were travelling with a baby. As their rooms are above a night club and it was a Friday night.

The room had been left open and other guests had obviously used our room to smoke a joint prior to our arrival. Unfortunately as we arrived at 11:30pm it was too late to search for alternative accommodation. Room is in serious need of a thorough clean ang a fresh coat of paint. There was a bright pink plastic bag covering the smoke detector

Stay was fine. We left computer mouse in room, Manager contacted us and we got it back, Thanks!

Comfortable bed, utilities in kitchen worked well

Chairs in kitchen were rejects. Didn't like the ramp to rooms from street level.

Not a backpackers

Location

Room smelt of stale cigarette smoke, door opened directly into communal area, loud music playing from night club into early morning. To walk into the backpackers you would have to walk past other guests smoking and through their smoking area. The other guests seemed not to be backpackers or tourists but long term residents.

The room was fine and comfortable. The staff were friendly.

The noise. Night club/bar with loud music below or adjacent two nights in a row until after 2am. The whole room reverberated.

A shambles

We arrived at 7pm to find no staff there able to even open the security door. Someone staying there eventually let us in and someone else staying there had a key for a spare room so we could get in. We were with our 1yr old and desperate to get him to shower and bed. There was an issue with the hot waster so no hot water. The place was freezing with a tiny heater. There was no toilet paper. A shambles It’s currently a long term accommodation provide which wasn’t clear on the website. Best thing about the place was kind other people staying there.

Great budget room in center of the Nelson with a tv and a shower/toilet in a room.Staff is super friendly and very helpful. Kitchen has everything you need and facilities are cleaned regularly. Only downside is if you are light sleeper then you might struggle with a noise coming from downstairs on Friday/Saturday nights(nightclub downstairs), didn't really bother us. Would recommend. :)
