We liked the service and clean room. Food was good. The ladies were very friendly and helpful.
The faucets and showerhead were very old and rusty. The bed was very uncomfortable and noisy when ever you turn or got up.

The pool was beautiful. It was a very relaxing stay. All other guests were very respectful as well as staff
The food could use some improvement. It’s not the best

Really nica staff
Food was good.bit pricy compared to other restaurants.
Swimming pool and hangmoks where really nice
Moterbike rental +/- 20$
Room was really small,.no table or hanger to storage your clothes or hang up your towel after a shower.
Bathroom is outside of room but right next to it.
Couldn't brush my teeth as the sink was really small and the water tap didn't worked (water splashed everywhere) it was smelly as well.

Family atmosphere, amazing staff who helped with any requests, great food onsite, surf guides were super knowledgeable and nice, AC in rooms
10-15 walk to the surf, but you can pay for a ride if you don’t have your own wheels

We loved the location and the proximity to beginners bay (about a 10 minute walk), the staff were all friendly and polite, the food and cocktails were amazing, the room was comfortable and clean and we loved the pool and hammocks!
Nothing.

Common areas were clean but our room and bathroom had spider webs and dirt on the walls.
Tried to change my booking 2 days before because i’ve made a mistake while booking. When I got there, I explained the situation, the staff told me to cancel my reservation via Booking and they’ll handle it. They never responded to either message, so I ended up paying for an extra night.
It’s called Surfcamp, but it’s only for experienced surfers. They couldn’t find someone for beginners the 3 days we were there.
It’s also 15 minutes out of town, if you don’t have a car.

Karen was very empathetic and called the police immediately. Nicawaves arranged transport to and from the police station in Tola on two occasions (the second trip was required as the police report stated the wrong accommodation name in their report). They cleared our food and drink tab which came to around 120 dollars (*this was on the condition that we cancelled our booking on booking.com)
The police were called at 10pm. We finished police report at 1.30am. At 7.30am staff knocked on our door and advised that if we wanted transport to police station, we would need to leave at this time.
We asked for assistance with the police report due to the language barrier but when we arrived at the police station we realised that our driver did not speak much English. The police provided a written report based on what we struggled to report in Spanish on the previous night. This could have been collected at any time that day. We believe that we were made to leave early as the owner wanted us off the premises before we could speak with other guests.
This feeling was reinforced when we were told that our food and drinks tab would be cleared on the condition that we cancel our booking on booking.com. We hadn’t asked for anything and were willing to pay the tab. They said that they didn't want to pay commission to booking.com but we assume that they didn't want this review. It was shocking to think that we experienced this ordeal and the owner was only concerned with the reputation of his business.
We have basic conversational Spanish so there were significant language barriers in dealing with the police and Nicawaves staff. We don’t know why Mike Dennison (bilingual owner) never assisted with translation. The owner never met or spoke with us.
We left Nicawaves with nothing but the clothes we were wearing at the time of the robbery. We were stranded in Nicaragua for an additional two weeks while we waited for replacement passports. Other tourists commonly asked what the owner was doing to assist. We felt assistance was minimal given the scale of what had occurred at Nicawaves.

The rooms are large and spacious; most comfortable bed that we had while in Nica. The room also had a fridge which was great for us because we had water bottles with us.
The pool area is nice and there are lots of places to rest in a hammock or lounge by the pool.
It's a rip off to pay $1.50 for a cup of coffee. I've never had to pay for coffee, even in crap motels in the USA. Not only that, the cup size is like a demi-tasse
There is no beach access from this property. The pool area is very nice but Popoyo is a beach town.

Amazing location! (On the side of the river with the surf, if you stay in a hostel in the "town" you have to cross the river to surf which you can't do at high tide or get a lift on the long road around, as you can't walk that road way too far).
Staff are amazing!
Value is also good, if there is a group of you the rooms are amazing value and the restaurant is not too expensive, plus there are local restaurants within walking distance.
4.5
The amenities were outside of this world!!! The pool and the outside seating and floral arrangements were soooo beautiful! The staff was extremely kind as well. We arrived a little over the closing time of the kitchen and they still took us in and re-opened to serve us. The banana bread was sooooo delicious!
This is not necessarily a negative point, but the decor and arrangements of the rooms are a little disappointing after seing the amenities and outdoor area. I feel like a little repainting and maybe new furniture would help a lot. The bathroom was especially a little outdated, but we didn’t spend too much time inside since the outside was so nice.

loved it! relaxed, chilled vibe, nice pool and common area😎 friendly staff
it’s a bit of a walk to the beach

Great facilities, lovely pool, and cold beer. The hammocks were excellent as well.
Our room was only cleaned once over the course of our five nights. It would have been nice to have it cleaned at least one more time.
4.5
Food and nature.
There was several blackouts by night.

Just a bit far from the beach !

We loved the pool and communal areas! They felt very luxurious and were clean and tidy. The hammocks were so nice to chill in after a surf. The staff were very friendly and the food was good!
The rooms don’t match the rest of the hotel. Curtains were very old with rusty poles and holes in them. The beds weren’t very comfortable, but they do have good AC

The service was very helpful and friendly. The ladies in the restaurant were always helpful with a smile. Food was good and very convenient to have close by.

A beautiful little location with a very quaint and well-run facilty. The gardens around the pool and the rooms are beautiful and the staff are super wonderful. Really an excellent experience and would stay there for sure again.
Nothing. All great.

Loved all of the shared spaces on this property… the pool, the rancho with hammocks, the lush gardens, and the indoor bar area… all very comfortable with easy-to-access outlets for charging devices. The rooms were large, clean, cool, and nice. The hot water and English-speaking channels on the TV in our rooms were a nice treat.

REALLY BEUATIFUL AREA with nice sunbeds and pool, very kind staff, perfect location maybe 7-8minute from the surfing beach, They have squat and bike for rent, good restaurant more like American style but tasty meal, we stayed longer because we love this place
some of staff dont speak english so we can said what we want, missing wardrobe in room, huge red ant at apartment but we undestand that it was in the middle of nature

We got upgraded to a better room for the same price which was a nice surprise. The pool was really nice. The staff were really friendly. Close to the beach.
The food was quite pricey in the restaurant. Not sure if the room had been used in a while as there was so many large ants in the bathroom but they weren’t really a bother. There were a few power cuts whilst we were there, some lasting 2+ hours so we didn’t have lights/wifi/aircon etc.

The food was delicious. I told them I was vegan and they knew immediately which things I eat and which not. This helped a lot with choosing dishes from the card. The staff was very friendly and at all times engaged. Also loved the pool and hammock area.
After only one day we had so many mosquitos in our room, especially in the bathroom because of wet towels or clothes. It would have been good to have more opportunities to hang them outside.

The pool was clean and the bed was comfy. The foreign guy working in the garden was helpful and nice. He fixed the shower when asked.
The room we originally booked for 60usd/night was a room in the basement floor of a building which made it dark and the air bad (seemed moldy). We changed our reservation into a room by the pool for 90usd but it was very basic, shower didn't work properly, and overall we felt the place was very overpriced for Nicaraguan standards. Breakfast was included (although it had to be negotiated to be included) and they never said coffee with breaky would not be which added up to a lot in the end. Would have been nice to be informed about that. Never had hotel breakfast where coffee would have been separately charged like this! The lady working at the reception was rude and all in all we did not feel comfortable at the hotel. Would never recommend to stay in this place. Poor value for money.
