The location was good, the breakfast was good
The electricity was off the 1st night with no backup generator.
Absolutely no wifi reception.
I had no water the next morning and when I reported this to reception they were unaware of this issue.
I had to go and report it again several hours later, only to be accused that I had a guest with me the 1st night.
I did not bother staying another night and checked out.

The attached restaurant was excellent and the vibes were very nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. Management let me change my hotel room for free because the Wi-Fi access was non existent in the first room.
Very spotty Wi-Fi even in the new room, cramped bathroom, my room door was loose and hard to lock/unlock.

I loved their breakfast and food was so so good! It was very clean! And I loved that the beach was so close! The staff were really friendly and I plan to visit again!!

The room was very clean and the staff was very accommodating.
The options on the breakfast menu could have been better.

Nice hotel, staff is very friendly and extremely helpful.
Not everyone speaks English which makes the communication difficult.
It is no problem for me that not everyone speaks English obviously! But they wanted me to pay my taxi in advance, just, I didn't understand.

Very friendly personnel, especially bar manager Sajid and waitress Sporah, hotel service works flawless, not expensive and just at the beach. On the daily menu catch of the day, right from the sea.
Breakfasts could be more various. Nothing else

This is the best place to stay on Kendwa beach in my opinion. The prices are anywhere from half to a third of the price of the larger resorts but you get everything they have to offer. It's not a fancy resort but the rooms are a nice size and very clean. The beds are very comfortable and the service is exceptional. There is also an electric kettle and a selection of tea and instant coffee in the room. There is also a good working fridge to keep your drinks/food cold. The air conditioner worked exceptional well. I was traveling as a solo, female traveler and I felt very safe here. Many of the staff took the time to learn my name and this made me feel so welcomed and safe. The area by the beach with the chairs is a very comfortable place to hang out and not be bothered by people selling stuff on the beach. The restaurant has great prices for drinks and food and I found it to be the best food I could get on the beach. There was a cooked to order breakfast offered each morning that was very good. I would definitely save some money and stay here versus the fancier resorts close by.
I did wish they had fresh brewed coffee for the breakfast in the morning..

Nice location very close to the beach. Good breakfast in cosy outdoor restaurant.
The room was not particularly nice (considering the price), but the view from the veranda was good
3.7
WiFi only at the restaurant and reception. Please improve

Quietness and cleanliness of the place
There was no TV so it made my stay boring

rooms are a little old

they have the best staff and the property is very close to the beach
the bathroom is in the bedroom, same space just a glass partition. and the toilet has no door my God so inconvenient!!!! though very clean but we were family and we should leave the room or turn to the wall when one of us was taking shower
3.7
The size of bathroom is too small, water spread all over the room. Please repair bath tab connectors.

the location is extraordinary as very close to the beach, the area around the beach with the restaurant and little bar are wonderfully structured with plenty of smaller palm trees and nicely positioned sun beds. (yes, they aren’t directly on the sea but it gives a good break from all that’s going on (sellers etc) at kendwa beach)
remarkable was Said, amazing service and so friendly beyond business or customer service. he truly cared about me having a good time and was generous and kind as people from Zanzibar/Tansania are.
he taught me my first sentences in also a plus, this place is owned by a local. Swahili and shared a lot about the culture with me. thanks to him my stay was just great and he really made the difference. also the other staff from the restaurant was very nice and friendly.
very minor details: I had one of the less beautiful rooms but it was a booking one day before; though when I asked if there is another room free, the friendly lady on the reception did not tell me the full truth as I found out later. (she said the hotel is fully booked but it wasn’t)
I didn’t need it as I only stayed one night but asking for $10 for room service is a bit absurd..
one might read the other reviews on booking about the less friendly staff (which overall is really not true as it always depends how oneself treats the others) and then meets the less friendly receptionists, compared to the warm and super friendly rest of the staff. again, a minor detail and I m writing it to say that the staff indeed is FRIENDLY, generous and very welcoming!!!!

sawed, the guy from the photo, very friendly.
every thing was fine

Staff super friendly and they remember my name it was appreciated. The room is nice, you have space to put your stuff. You are just 2min away from the beach. I had dinner at the restaurant the food was good. Breakfast is nice too but only regret to not have the option to get the local breakfast.
If at the reception they advice you to go with Pablo for the excursion don’t go with him I had issue, I booked a tour with the stone town city tour and once I am there I was told no I don’t have it, so I was very angry. Hopefully the manager of the hotel is super nice and manage to fix everything. So no worries you are in good hands. Moreover don’t take taxi transfert to go to another hotel with Pablo, when he brought me to my next place he did not even checked in advance where was the location… for me it’s not professional.
