Location was great and the staff were excellent. All of the staff were very kind and helpful. The room was a great size and comfortable.
My only complaint is the drainage on the shower. Because the drainage is slow, the water overflowed and got more of the bathroom floor wet. I could tell that this was causing severe water damage to the wood of the bathroom door.

It was a very nice dinner buffet — and breakfast buffet as well
That the lounge snacks was in the large restaurant, which was not a nice replacement for a nice lounge.
The restaurant buffet is nice, but quite noisy and pleasant area to relax..

They had breakfast cereals, and the bed was super comfy. The view from the room was nice, the room was large, and the desk was very comfortable to work from. We successfully ordered room service once (they don't speak English on room service), and the burger meal was delicious.
ufff...where do I start:
1. Someone forgot to tell the computer that it was supposed to price gouge for the labor weekend. They had put the inflated price on Booking.com but the Marriot computer system doesn't seem to allow price gouging and was giving the standard room rate. But the problem was solved by the stroke of a pen and voila, 30% increase - the power of the pen (and sssshhhhh... don't tell anyone in Marriot.com ;-)
2. Make sure you don't ask for a 1 hour late checkout. You will be refused
3. Bring your own internet (the one in your room may stop working)
4. Bring your own A/C (the one in your room will be broken)
5. Don't bother trying to watch the 2 English channels on the "mini" TV (CNN HBO). They don't work
6. Room service works sometimes. but not in English
7. if you use the pool, don't go too late, the changing rooms are a mess, towels, flip flops, strewn about...
8. If you are on the 17th floor like us then you have access to a special lounge.. good to know, but no one in the hotel will tell you.. we found out on Chinese weibo, on the last day.
9. oh... if you want points on your Bonvoy account for your stay make sure that you don't use booking.com. Otherwise, they will refuse to give you the points (but they will take your email on the excuse to "check" and then send you a feedback form to fill out)
10. A positive is that the parking, even on the Mayday weekend, is COMPLETELY empty... probably because the Sheraton is only one wing of the building you see in the pictures. The other wing, Sophia, looks like it has been abandoned. I'm pretty sure this hotel will be abandoned and demolished soon, also. So if you spot any yellow diggers approaching get out quick !!
11. This is not the location you want to be in if you want to see QingDao. It is a business/residential area. The "real" QingDao is on the other side of the bay, ShiNan. That is where you really want to stay.

The breakfast had an excellent variety of Western and Chinese food and was very delicious! The rooms matched what was advertised on their website and were very clean. Also the beds were comfortable and the view of the sea was fantastic. The staff were friendly and helpful and could speak an appropriate and professional level of English. I will definitely stay here again!

The view and the buffets were the only bonuses for staying there.
Check in and check out at the front desk was a nightmare, only 2 front desk staff for at least a dozen people waiting to be checked in & out, and no one helping me with my luggages, I have to drag 2 very heavy large luggages to my suite upon check in and to the car outside when I checked out, all by myself!!
The air con in the room was horrible, I couldn’t sleep for the 2 nights there, only one air con control panel for the entire one bedroom suite, the air con was noisy and blasting air onto my head the entire night, terrible indeed.
The floorings of the room were very run down and squeaky.

The location was a little bit sleepy. There's not too much around but the waterside was beautiful and since it was a sunny day, we enjoyed walking around.
The room lighting is very confusing. There are way too many buttons and they don't always have the same effect.

My partner and I spent five days at the Huangdao Sheraton hotel two weeks ago. We had to wait quite a long time before it was our turn to proceed to check-in. It's high season so there were a lot of customers. That said, it is the role of a hotel to anticipate this problem.
When it was our turn to check in, we found out that it is mandatory to enter the Health QR code of Shandong Province. This is quite normal and we understood it perfectly. However, it was a very time-consuming process (several hours before validation) and we believe that the hotel (or Booking.com) could and should have sent us the link in advance. Nevertheless, the employee in charge of our check-in was very friendly, efficient and understanding. May she be thanked here. She guided us in good English and requested special permission from the management so that we could still access our room.
Our room was clean and comfortable. However, apart from the presence of a bathtub, it doesn't really differ from other hotels in the big cities of this country with a much lower rate per night.
As a reminder, the price per night in this hotel corresponds more or less to half of the average legal minimum wage in China. We therefore expected to stay in a classy hotel. But it's the details that is supposed to create class, and not the name nor the price. We learnt it quickly the hard way.
First of all at the breakfast buffet (128 rmb). The number of dishes were quite large. But there were very little renewal from day to day. But above all, the products chosen were of poor quality. Cakes and pastries were not made on site. These were industrial products thawed, reheated and cut on site. As for cheese and cold cuts, they were chosen from the lowest categories. I know this because I myself often buy the same brands in Metro stores. I expected something better from a meal in a multi-star hotel.
In addition, every day, throughout the meal, the same music was played over and over again.
