Gut gelegenes Hotel, das in die Jahre gekommen ist

Lage ist schön inmitten der Reisfelder und auch sehr gut um zum Lions Rock zu gelangen. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hat sich auch darum gekümmert, dass wir um 5Uhr früh einem Tuktuktransfer zum Ticketschalter vom Lion Rock bekommen.

Das Hotel (zumindest unser Zimmer) wirkt ein bisschen in die Jahre gekommen und ein bisschen abgewohnt. Unser Zimmer war leider nicht besonders sauber, insbesondere das Waschbecken im Bad war nicht wirklich geputzt, als wir eingecheckt haben. An der Toilette ist irgendwo Wasser ausgelaufen, sodass das Bad eigentlich immer etwas unter Wasser stand. Der Pool ist an sich schön gelegen, allerdings müsste an der ein oder anderen Stelle etwas renoviert oder einfach besser gepflegt werden. Beim Abendessen gab es leider einen größeren Teil der ohnehin schon kleinen Karte (10 Gerichte) nicht und die Essen, welche wir dann hatten, haben uns auch nicht wirklich gut geschmeckt.

Zalige plek!

Prachtige rustige plek! Het zwembad tussen de rijstvelden, de ligging, het eten, de vriendelijke bediening, de service om iets te bezoeken….als gezin vonden wij het een heerlijke guesthouse. Zeker een aanrader!

Traumhafte Umgebung, aber leider dreckig

Die Lage ist wunderschön. Die Abende im Pool am Reisfeld oder auf der Terrasse mit Blick auf den Felsen sind traumhaft. Das Frühstück war auch lecker. Das Personal immer freundlich.

Leider war unser Zimmer stark verdreckt. Der Boden im Schlafzimmer war nur etwas gefegt und hätte gewischt werden sollen. Das Bad war aber wirklich eklig. Das Klo, die Dusche und das Waschbecken waren wahrscheinlich noch vom Gast davor dreckig. Dadurch, dass das Fenster nur hölzerne Schlitze sind, können Tiere im Bad leben. Mit den Geckos habe ich kein Problem, leider haben sie aber überall ihren Kot hinterlassen. Wir haben dann gefragt, ob das Zimmer und besonders das Bad nochmal sauber gemacht werden könnten. Als wir wieder kamen, war vielleicht mal über die Klobrille gewischt, alles andere war aber noch genauso dreckig. Der TukTuk Fahrer, der auch hier immer wieder empfohlen wird, war entweder jemand anderes oder er hatte bei uns ein paar schlechte Tage. Wir waren auch schon in anderen asiatischen Ländern und auch in Sri Lanka hatten wir nicht so einen risikobereiten Fahrer. Er fuhr sehr schnell, überholte knapp und war ungeduldig als er mit uns die Tour nach Polonnaruwa machte. Er wollte uns auch mehrmals noch zu Stopps bei Freunden überreden.

Perfect location! Quiet, but central

Quiet location, but on walking distance of all the restaurants. Great swimming pool and proper, big room with nice views.

Fantastically authentic jungle hotel with amazing pool/views

Amazing hotel with great views of lion rock. Pool is placed in the local grounds. Perfect spot to relax unwind and enjoy the locally nature.

If you are not a fan of creepy crawlies or small creatures I suggest booking a room downstairs in the resort. The upstairs rooms bathrooms have slat ventilation in the bathrooms so can let in a few friends.

Hotel is very close to nature. Beautiful view and amazing sound from rise plantation. In the bathroom you can find the lizard or small frogs 🥰

Lovely

Exceptional

We loved everything about this hotel. The people are so kind and detail driven. The manager allowed us a late check out and arranged our transportantion to the airport and they have a tuk tuk diver on site ready to take you anywhere. The swimming pool is perfect and the sunsets there are just to die for. An amazing experience in Sigria. Thank you !

The pool was great! The rooms were comfortable, and the location was perfect for getting to Lion Rock. The complex was just beautiful. The staff were very attentive

Best place we’ve stayed in Sri Lanka! All the staff were amazing and so friendly! Breakfast and dinner were all amazing! Staff couldn’t do enough for you and the owner was so friendly and helpful! Pool is fab in the middle of the rice fields Wanted to stay longer, 10/10 would recommend!

highly recommend to stay here while in Sigiriya

The location was really great. The view was great and very unique to be living by the rice fields. Happy we stayed here for our two nights in Sigiriya. The staff was also lovely, so was the breakfast. The tuktuk driver they called for us was also great!

The menu was “so so” and the pool could use an extra cleaning.

Relaxing stay at Nelu Villa

The pool is amazing, in the middle of the jungle and rice culture! There is a great view on the Lion rock. Very peaceful place !

The food was ok but clearly not the best week-end had in Sri Lanka. Also, they help us organising a safari to Eco Park which I don’t recommend, ask to go to Mineryia instead !

Very good

Lovely view on sigiriya rock in the middle of the rice field. Our room was lovely and there was hot water and good pressure (which is not the case in most place)

Breakfast was a bit expensive (3$ for pancakes only) and my parents room didn't have a mosquito net

Shanaka and other staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was quite adequate for our requirements. The restaurant had wonderful views of the lion rock. We were able to book taxis and tuktuks easily from Nelu Villa. There were also two cute dogs…:)

You should be prepared for a few mosquitoes in the bathroom but the shower had lovely hot water with good pressure so a couple of mosquitoes wasn't the end of the world.

Beatifull location and great hospitality

Relaxing place to be and incredibly flexible and friendly personnel. They gave us the best tips on how to explore the area, like rock climbing and safari, and helped us arrange everything at a very fair price. The rooms are clean and the view is amazing.

Perfect location, lovely staff, great breakfast. The owner of the hotel was great in helping us with anything we needed including advice on what to do when raining.

The hotel is basic but this is matched with the price so it’s good value for money!

We had a delightful stay for two nights. The rooms are comfortable and the property is peaceful and beautiful. You can tell great care is put into the land. The owner and staff take great care to ensure a nice visit. Breakfast was delicious with a gorgeous view. Lovely all around. Thank you again!

Great place and staff

The location with view of the Lion Rock (walking distance) is great. The pool is lovely and well maintained. The owner is extremely helpful and the staff very accommodating. We loved it so much we booked an extra night. Highly recommended.

Perhaps the wooden seats could be made more comfy with some pillows.

We stayed at Nelu Villa three years ago and liked it so much that we came back. The breakfast (Sri Lankan, French toast or something else) was very delicious you get a fruit platter as well. We also had dinner and it was amazing. The pool is in the middle of a rice paddy. The host and the rest of the family do a very good job. Everyone is friendly and helpful. We got the special opportunity to visit the owners garden. If you stay in Sigiriya and need good coffee and modern local food you should check out Cappuccino Bistro.

There was no rice on the paddy because it wasn’t the season for it ;)

beautiful and excellent place in beautiful surroundings!

Beautiful place in a beautiful location! the rooms are very spacious, and the property is so well maintained. it surrounded by nature. the upstairs restaurant serves delicious food with a great view. the pool is gorgeous and relaxing spot for the afternoons. the owner organised everything - even transfer to Arugam Bay, despite the current situation. Their resident Tuk Tuk driver Sameera was so helpful,reliable and fun! the kids (and us) had such good days with him. this place is highly recommendable and excellent value!

a piece of paradise

We stayed at this delightful place at the start of our tour. Everything was very clean, the family very friendly and helpful. The rooms are big and airy, simple but immaculate with a very comfy mattress. The pool surrounded by the rice paddy is a dream, a place to switch off and watch beautiful plants and animals. The views from the restaurant and the patios of Lion’s Rock and lush nature are perfect.
