About this house rental
This property has been described as the prettiest place on Edisto. It is accessed via a long avenue of oaks winding through Blue House Plantation which dates back to the 1830’s and remains a working farm as of today. The property is very private and resides in a gated community of approximately 10 homes.
Our home sits on a point with the front being isolated from the adjacent properties. Private, serene and peaceful. Once you arrive you would think you were the only people on Edisto Island. The front porch fully overlooks Blue House Creek. Rock in the rockers enjoying the birds or read a book. The pristine view directly ahead is an old tree lined plantation. To the right 4 miles away is historic Wadmalaw Island. To the left is a large marsh area bounded by Blue House Creek.
This warm and sunny house is an open concept with two bedrooms adjoining the living area . Each bedroom has a queen size bed and a private bath. They each also have a full view of the oak trees , marsh and creek. In addition to the two bedrooms, there is a spacious sleeping loft area with a single bed. The kitchen has a sink, stove, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, and garbage disposal. It is fully equipped to facilitate almost any low country dish you can dream up. Enjoy your low country meal at the large dining table or outdoors on the picnic table.
The bright living area with is open with water and marsh views . A TV with local TV only and Wi-Fi is available.
There is also a large washer and dryer and mud sink in the laundry room .
Downstairs you will find a hammock to rest in the gentle breezes. It can be moved into the yard to better enjoy the island sun.
Enjoy the fire pit for cooking. It can be used for roasting oysters or cooking steaks over the open coals. Also great for just being outside on a beautiful starry night and having a bon fire.
We have a private floating dock and pier head, perfect for throwing the cast net, catching crabs and for fishing for trout or red fish. Blue House creek is very deep and usually has a minimum depth of 5 feet to the main channel at low tide with typically being about 11 feet at high tide. Great for bringing your kayak, paddle board or boat and keeping at the dock. Steamboat Landing is just minutes away by boat so launching your craft is not a problem.
This is very special property that will surely be a treat to anyone who stays here. It’s very peaceful and serene all year round. Due to the uniqueness of the property large gatherings or parties are not permitted.

Unique Property with beautiful views of the salt marshes of South Carolina. Very comfortable home on a river with a well-equiped dock. Excellant location for enjoying all the low country has to offer. No far from Charleston, Beaufort and several beaches.

The Brown House on Blue House Lane
My wife and I had a wonderful time at the brown house. Arriving from the NY North country the SC marsh area was warm and sunny. It took a few days to adjust to “marsh time”. The red sunrises, the glowing sunsets and the tidal changes of the creek. We loved hanging out on the covered boat dock. It was a great place for lunch, fishing or just sitting in the sun. The amount of wildlife we were able to observe was amazing. The brown house was spotless and inviting, with interesting furnishings and collectibles. It’s a place to relax close to nature, read a book from the local bookstore or practice your photographic skills. We enjoyed long walks in the area near the brown house. The Edisto Environmental Center which has hands on displays, also has nature trails near the shore. The nearby Edisto Historical Museum with many photos and artifacts was our particular favorite. We think beautiful Edisto Island is a very special place.

Amazing
Our stay on Edisto Island was beyond all of our expectations. The home is lovely, clean and allows you to enjoy the beautiful property from every window. The birds and wildlife are so entertaining. We spent many hours on the dock fishing, hoping to catch a glimpse of the dolphins swimming by and just in awe of our beautiful surroundings. Thank you Craig for providing all the information we needed to truly enjoy our stay!

A special, relaxing location
This is a very special place, both the house and its location. Located on a point overlooking the salt marshes and with a creek running immediately past it, you get beautiful sunsets and sunrises and plenty of fantastic birds and scenery. Craig even set up the crab trap before our arrival, and it had five crabs in it when we checked it the first night!
The house is nicely maintained, and the living quarters were very clean, nicely appointed with everything we needed and comfortable. There are multiple places on the property to relax: inside the house, on the house’s second floor deck, in the shade under the house, on the covered pier, and on the bench swing attached to a tree on the point. It is a perfect place for a relaxing getaway.
We drove each day to the beach which is only about 15 minutes away. There is a seafood shack just down the main road from the house where you can buy fresh seafood to cook and enjoy back at the house.
We feel lucky to have found this special spot and hope to be back to stay there again soon. Thank you, Craig, for opening it to us and being so accommodating!

Perfection
Our stay in Blue House Lane was spectacular. The location is dreamy and we brought tons of food and just cooked in. We caught fish and crabs and got shrimp and oysters at Flowers Seafood right up the road. Craig was great to talk to and everything was clean and tidy. Perfect amount of space for my husband and our son. Sunrises and sunsets were gorgeous. Can’t wait to return 💛

Wonderful Christmas Getaway
Very nice and quiet neighborhood. The house is very clean with fully equipped kitchen. We enjoyed fishing at the dock, even in this time of the year, we still managed to catch some nice size sea trouts and black drums. The beach is only about 15 mins away, will definitely come back again.

Relax, read, fish, cruise, etc.
Another relaxing stay at this Edisto retreat! The location of the home and the serene surroundings always make for a wonderful getaway. Being able to cruise the creeks and dock your boat 20 steps from the home is ideal for someone who loves the water. Hoping Craig will always rent his wonderful property so others can enjoy!

It’s become our yearly trip!
7728 Blue House Lane never disappoints! It’s kind of the illusion of seclusion that you can step away from in a matter of minutes. This year we explored Botany Bay and the only regret is that we hadn’t done it sooner! We fished and crabbed from the dock and launched our kayaks from the dock as well. Found out that dolphins are impressively fast and love for you to play “follow the leader,” them leading of course. We spent a day on the beach, digging castles and fishing and was there for the sunset. Our last night we ate at The Waterfront restaurant and I highly recommend Surf & Turf Stir Fry. It was amazing! Until next year ~ The Hills

Best house on Edisto
We will definitely be coming back to Blue House Lane again and again! The house was perfect for family of 4 and plenty of room for another family to join! We felt like we were on our own private island but close to busy Edisto Beach. The dock provided the kids with endless entertainment! They fished, crabbed and kayaked all day! Craig was available for any questions we had and the house had everything we needed for a wonderful stay!

It’s Perfect on the Point
We’ve booked this property 5 times. Hurricanes ran us out the first two times. It’s a wonderful, private, peaceful place. Extremely clean and well maintained EVERY time. Has all the amenities you’ll need. We don’t have any complaints or recommendations for improvement. Thanks Craig for sharing your property and thanks to Linda for all she does! We’ll be back!

A Wonderful Place to spend a Week at Edisto
Everything about the property was great. It was clean, check in was easy, it's close enough to the Beach/grocery store, and the views from both the porch and the dock are wonderful. Wish we could stay here again next Summer! We were all sad to leave.

The best Edisto has to offer.
I'm a local and I've rented various condo's and houses at the beach and on the island thru the years and this was the best location I have ever stayed. We enjoy the creeks but also enjoy the beach, but I have to say while at this location I never even thought about the beach...that's how beautiful it is.

Perfect Vaca
We couldn’t have asked for a better vacation. Waking up to the beautiful sunrise on the river was breathtaking. We spent a lot of time on the dock fishing and relaxing. The hammock was one of my daughter’s favorite spots. The house was clean and made us feel right at home. We missed it the moment we left. We can’t wait to go back next year!

Wonderful Getaway
First impression from the family was, “wow!” The property was perfect for our family getaway and was isolated from any of the tourists and crowds. Located about a twenty minute drive from the beach and we recommend visiting Botany Bay (Driftwood Beach) as it is beautiful. We could have stayed at the property all week and been content! We saw much wildlife from the property; Turtles, turkeys, deer, owls, crabs, hermit crabs, and many birds. We even had a dolphin swim by the dock a couple days! If you like to stargaze, this is the place far enough from any lights. We were able to catch a glimpse and photograph the Neowise comet! If you like nature this is the place to be.
The house was very clean and welcoming. Our son enjoyed sleeping up in the loft.
As for Craig, he answered any questions I had and even contacted me to talk about fishing excursions that he knew of in the area. Craig was very pleasant to deal with.

Hidden gem
We loved our stay! We made wonderful memories, and we didn’t even have to leave the beautiful property. The house was very clean and included board games and a nice Bose stereo. The beds were comfortable, and the kitchen had all we needed. The toilets were a bit short/small, but that’s a minor issue for us. The pros of this house vastly outnumber the few cons.
The new grill was fantastic for making steaks, and we roasted marshmallows in the fire pit.
We spent most of our time on the porch or at the dock. Swimming, fishing and crabbing was so much fun. Our girls did need life jackets for us to feel comfortable, and we kept an eye on the current. We saw all kinds of wildlife: dolphins, pink birds, woodpeckers, a turtle and an otter. At night, the stars were amazing.
Craig and Pamela were super helpful with answering our questions and taking care of us.
Note for parents: The loft and ladder were a bit scary at first, but our girls (7 and 4) got the hang of it. We still had to be ready for them to call for us if they needed to use the bathroom during the night. We are home now, and they’re bored with their regular beds! 😆

Truly Paradise - Wildlife Haven
Our family enjoyed our vacation so much at this beautiful property....it truly is paradise! The house and waterfront views are breathtaking. It was so relaxing sitting on the dock and front porch watching the sunset and dolphins swim by. Our children loved fishing, kayaking, swinging in the hammock and riding their bikes. The community is private so it was very quiet and peaceful. The house had all the amenities anyone could ask for and was very, very clean. We loved seeing all the wildlife and beautiful sunflower fields at the neighboring farm. Mr. Craig was awesome and so kind to our family. We absolutely loved it here. The worst part about our stay was having to leave!

Winner winner!
This is a special property for those that are seeking solitude, nature's beauty and the ability to be on the water! We can't say enough good things about our stay. To property was very well maintained and Craig was wonderful to work with. We've already booked our next trip and I have no doubt it will be the first of many!

Best Vacation!
The home and property were perfect! We had a wonderful time caught several types of fish off of the dock and crabs. We will definitely book this home again. I wish we could have stayed the entire week.

Perfection
This was our second time staying in this beautiful home. We love the seclusion and peaceful setting. The house had everything you need. The only issue we had was the grill, it should be replaced. Luckily for me it got me out of cooking dinners so it was a win! I’m sure I could have contacted Craig and he would have fixed it immediately but it wasn’t that big of a deal. We absolutely love this home and we’ll definitely be back! So if you’re reading the reviews (like I always do) before making a decision, you should just book this home now you won’t be disappointed!
