Cute building. Good access off highway but quiet. Large living space with fire (not suitable for young children with no guard)
Bathrooms need an update and plumbing attended to (showers overflow base etc.). Lots of steps and steep stairs. Dining table comfortable for six, but squashy for more.

Kitchen, charm of the house
The outdoor furniture was very dirty

Quiet country house, clean and tidy.
I liked everything about the house.

Appearance
Bathrooms are small, some rooms doesn’t have hot water
3.9
Clean with enough room for our group
Couldn’t find the main room light switch! Other than that it was awesome.

Great location, beautifully designed house

Amazing space for our family at this house. Loved the architecture, the high ceilings. wooden staircase and stone features and the sound of the near by stream. electric blankets were supplied and the heaters on when we arrived so it was nice and warm. So many bathrooms, beds and a drying room out the back. Great value for money at this place compared to Tekapo which is just a short drive away. Recommend.
Couldn't get the gas hob going without a lighter as ignition wouldn't spark . Couldn't find one at the property so used the oven grill instead. No firewood found, but its shoulder season so heaters on were fine.

Loved the property, amazing cottage with the best views of Burkes Pass, have always wanted to use this palce and the property itself was great. Very close to Tekapo.
The rooms were very cold each room had a small heater in it however only the one in the lounge was on when we arrived, there was no wood at all for the wood fire and the pizza oven so we had to go and buy some ourselves as it was snowing when we were there. The other big issue is that the place is advertised that it has a hot tub. Which it no longer does and this was our main reason for booking the cottage.

From the outside, the driveway and tree lined path were gorgeous and the log and timber cottage just divine.
The original owners built this with love and respect for the landscape.
Unfortunately it hasn’t been maintained and needs a lot of maintenance and some refurbishment.
There is an old shed and tram that are in a state of disrepair and covered in cobwebs, there is a fishpond under a stone bridge at the front that has been destroyed and just has a plastic lining.
The yard is overgrown and the veranda plus upstairs balcony structure needs work.
Inside would have been spectacular back in the day, as there was a great stone fireplace and the log beams and timber finishes are wonderful.
Unfortunately everything needs a proper clean and the original fireplace along with a slow combustion stove cannot be used.
The current owners have just popped electric heaters around instead, which takes away from the true experience.
The showers had remnants of cakes of soap everywhere from other guests and the kitchen sponges/scourers were filthy.

Unique, secluded and very quiet.
squeaky floors

fairytale cottage. We saw a lot of rabbits run away as we entered the gate. Kids and even adults loved this place. it’s old but seems to have been well managed and is clean. rooms are all good. Huge but plenty of heating equipments were available.
kitchen- old fashioned stove that we had to turn on LPG gas to use and we never did it before so that was scary but was manageable.
If you hate flies, be warned that the sinks will be covered by those in the morning if you left the surface wet the night before. No flies or bugs were spotted when we arrived and I could tell how the place had been cleaned with care before our arrival.

It was the cutest house with lots of room. Loved how much space there was. The instructions were very tricky to understand but lots of information.
If I could suggest anything it would be to get new shower mat for downstairs shower it is gross and larger shower curtain for upstairs shower cause its not wide enough. Also the water pump constantly turns off and on every 30 seconds there is a water leak. But even with this I would still recommend it as a great place to stay

beautiful setting
quaint quirky house
gas hob didn’t work very well
no brush and shovel
a bit cold

The house is beautiful! Heaps of space, great number of bathrooms and bedrooms, great for a group. Lots of room to sit down for dinner together and then hang out in the lounge after.
Not too far from Tekapo Hot Springs or Fairlie Bakehouse. Pretty good location.
Not really toddler friendly, no cots available. Quite a few sharp bits around, big stairs up to level with railing that isn’t toddler friendly either.
Main shower could use a good scrub and quite a few dishes that had been put away still had food on them from the last use.

Location was good
One of the showers was block downstairs, we had to replace light bulbs and also one of the towel rails in the upstairs bathroom is broken

The property was nice, good surroundings and comfortable.
main lights didn’t work.
no water pressure, no one could have showers.
3 of the 4 showers had issues. mine was under repair. None of this was told to me.
TV was in. Chinese , we had to keep trying to work out how to get TV for NZ channels. No instructions given for tv.
Dead flies on the windowsills.

This house is spectacular. It has quite the rustic, isolated feel. We really enjoyed the size, balcony, and kitchen. The host information was easy to follow. One from our group was absolutely in love with this location wanting to come back and spend a whole week here.
The upstairs bathroom and shower were just a bit uncomfortable. I wasn't completely sure where the host wanted us to park and the TV was difficult to connect to. Otherwise, this was a great place!

Fantastic place. Spacious, lots of bedrooms and bathrooms. Spacious living room, huge yard. Recommend 100%
After we booked, we got instructions that we had to clean very well after ourselves or we would be charged extra. At that point im afraid to leave a dirty cup... Ive never left a mess in a hotep but this kind of instructions are too much.

Place is rustic old world charm and super clean.
Terrible communication from the owner, no pin code given to gate etc, and with no mobile coverage as well as their phone number not working its impossible to contact them. Thank god for a next door neighbor!!!! Forget using TV, unless you are Chinese and love Chinese sat TV.

Great location, hope to go back again. Peaceful. Plenty of space inside and out.
Would like to have known about security cameras and locations of the cameras.

The unique antique features, fire, heaters in all the rooms
Downstairs toilet kept filling up throughout night

Charming and cosy house in a beautiful setting. What’s not to love? The house was warm, clean and inviting with everything we needed.

Insturctions/requests were very clear and easy to follow. Host was very fast at answering any questions. I greatly appreciate the effort.

lots of space, nice views, good drying room
linen in downstairs room had bloodstains on sheet & pillowcase, someone must have used & it was not changed. Our children were very unhappy & unsettled resulting in a poor night’s sleep for all. Dead flies & dusty bedrooms, broken cistern in downstairs double bedroom toilet, general standard of cleaning was below expected.
