The location was really beautiful and the property was neat, clean and very well maintained. We loved the food be it's complimentary breakfast or ala-carte. The staff and owner both showed their hospitality and support. I would love to visit again and recommend to my friends and relatives.
Small things could make a big difference in the experience like automated pump controller for water pressure. Foot mat or rug outside bathroom, Mosquito repellent machine, ensuring continuous supply of water.

On our trip to Shimla we stayed in Glen View Heritage Homestay. Here's what we loved about our stay:
1. The cottage is situated in Jhakhoo Forest Hill Road. It is in a restricted access road - so is located in one of the quietest and most scenic parts of Shimla. The cottage is surrounded by tall pines and it was a joy simply taking in the beautiful surroundings.
2. It is an old British cottage built in the 1860s. I loved the wooden floors, tastefully done interiors and the heritage vibe of it. It had an elegant, vintage charm to it.
3. They are a pet friendly stay. Our pet beagle loved his stay as it allowed him easy access to really long walks amidst the woods. He enjoyed going up and down the hills and walked enthusiastically for up to 2 km daily.
4. The cottage has 6 bedrooms in total. You can rent out the entire cottage or rent individual rooms like we did.
5. The living room had cozy seating, a reading corner and a pool table. Guests have access to this room as well as the dining room. There is also ample seating outside the cottage.
6. Our bedroom was simply decorated, but had the same muted elegance as the rest of the house. The room had an attached bath that was modern and a lovely little changing room. The room had all amenities such as a kettle, TV, room heater, electric blankets and the bathroom had geysers.
7. The service was top notch. The caretakers were cheerful and helpful. The food was home cooked - simple and delicious. Breakfast came free with our stay. Their chai and pakoda was really delicious and we ended up having that every evening.
8. It is a 15 minute walk away from the Ridge. So it was possible for us to access tourist spots like the Ridge, the Mall and the Jakhoo ropeway easily by walk
We loved our stay. It was perfect for our kind of vacation.
Nothing, we were very satisfied

Amazing property, clean and spacious. Has a very unique vintage touch to it. Staff was attentive and helpful and addressed any specific needs. We enjoyed our home cooked meals (breakfast and dinner) and BBQ on one night. The location while a bit difficult to find, is nested in a pristine area that is away from the town but still walkable to the mall road. Would definitely recommend this for large groups and families.
Nothing in particular that is worth calling out.
