The reviews for this property are why we choose it but, I don’t understand how they wrote them. The house needs a scrubbing!! Take a wet paper towel and rub it a few times on the kitchen floor and it is black. Carpet is dirty and needs to be professionally cleaned or replaced. House has strong smell if pets and fragrance used to cover up pest smell. Each time
we changed our 1 year old’s socks, they were very dirty just from walking around the house.
Several other items need addressing:
-Hood over gas stove is installed incorrectly and doesn’t vent air to exterior causing buildup of CO (safety/code issue)
-Light switch in master bedroom missing faceplate making it easy for little fingers to get electrocuted (safety issue)
-Several handles came off when simply opening kitchen cabinets
-Master bathroom which is attached to master bedroom and has no window to outside has a broken vent fan. When smells are made in there, they have no where to go but into the bedroom/living area.
-Blinds in each room were all bought too short resulting in lots of light coming in for people attempting a vaca sleep in.
-Kitchen disposal didn’t work
Also, be advised they are building a large house directly across the street. Each morning 6-10 trucks show up and begin work at around 8. They were roofing during the time we were there so saws, nailers, compressors all day. This wouldn’t have changed my decision to stay here but, I would have appreciated some transparency from the listing

The home is beautiful and stocked with amenities such as towels, bedding, beach equipment, dog bowls, laundry necessities, and even coffee grounds. The home was very clean and inviting and the backyard was great. The beds were all very comfortable with plenty of blankets. The home is located within 20 minutes of everything. The boardwalk is about 20 minutes away, Capitola Village is less than ten minutes away, and the Mystery Spot was 20 minutes away. It is close to shopping and restaurants. The beach that is a short walk away is a bit deceiving. The beach is maybe 150 yards wide and not one that you can set up an umbrella and spend the day. The tide is very high and mainly for surfing and locals who were not very welcoming of us out of towners. Overall we had a wonderful quick getaway and highly recommend staying at this beautiful vacation home. The owner, Akemi, was so sweet and wonderful to talk to.

First off the communication from the owner is great, secondly the location of this property is perfect. We stayed here with our daughter and twin 4 year old granddaughters. They just loved "their" beach house, which is very comfortable and very well appointed. The owner has gone the extra mile in providing everything you would need for a wonderful stay. We will be coming back!

Great location and really liked the layout of the home. it was very comfortable and there was two living room areas for us and the kids. The only things that I would say should be addressed is that the shower heads need to be replaced/fixed. It would also be nice to get a filtered water option since there is no automatic icemaker or water in the refrigerator door. The communication was wonderful.

Great location, close to the ocean and walking distance to shopping, dining. Lots of options. We walked over for a coffee shop/ice cream outing one afternoon which was nice. Plenty of gear provided for our kids and us adults. Bikes, beach cart, fully stocked laundry area, coffee, etc. Just plan to bring your own shampoo/conditioner as Santa Cruz no longer allows the mini sizes to be offered. Akemi was quick to respond to our questions and a gracious host. It's a charming property, we loved it!

What a fun beach bungalow! Location was key - we were able to walk to the beach, to stores and restaurants. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed. Loved the decor, the layout of the house, the cozy bedding/blankets, and the overall vibe of Casa La Sirena. The owners were incredibly thoughtful, detail-oriented, and easy to communicate with. Hoping to be back next year!

We had a very nice, comfortable stay. Our host responded very quickly for questions we had at checkin. One thing is that the garbage cans should be labeled regular trash and recycling.
Would definitely stay again.

The house was absolutely beautiful. It was clean and close to everything. I chose it because the house was dog friendly. The house was dog ready, but the owner was fussy about me brining my dog, so I ended-up leaving him at home. That was the only issue. Choose if they want dogs are not and have it reflect truthfully in the ad.

I was at the house Casa Sirena, with a friend from Alaska to enjoy the beach and train for an open water swim. We were easy walking distance from Privates, a small secluded beach with a beautiful garden, a longer walk to Capitola and a short drive to many other Santa Cruz Beaches! We were also able to walk to the Hook and Pleasure Point to watch surfing! The house is relaxing and beautifully decorated with a nice sized, very secure yard for the dog hang out in (supervised of course). The yard also is nice to spend time in with beach chairs and tables. The garage had boogie boards and bicycles! One of my favorite places to stay in Santa Cruz!

Two friends and I stayed at Casa La Sirena and had a great time. It's clean, comfortable and in a great location. We were able to walk to restaurants and coffee shops on 41st street as well as access the beautiful walking/biking path that runs along the Pleasure Point beaches. We did not use the beach toys in the garage, but there were toys, bikes and a wagon available if needed. I'd highly recommend Casa La Sirena for anyone staying in the Santa Cruz/Capitola area.

We were completely pleased with our stay at this charming property. Equipped with everything we needed to prepare meals and enjoy a quiet night’s sleep. It is conveniently located near a beach, coffee shops, shopping and Capitola Village. Akemi was readily available to help with questions. We would definitely stay again.

We rental this house for a friends reunion and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The house is uniquely painted and decorated. It is only a short walk to beach access, maybe 2 minutes where the views are stunning! Coffee and miscellaneous shops are only a 5-7 minute walk away and the shops in Capitola are a 15 minute walk. The home has a nice little backyard with seating and nice landscaping. We enjoyed wine out there each day while the sun was out. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. Our host was very friendly and responsive from booking to departure. Wonderful rental!!

We had an amazing stay at La Sirena and look forward to returning. We fell in love with the neighborhood over the summer and knew we had to return with our daughter. This cozy, colorful home is the perfect size and location for our family of three (plus two dogs). We are so grateful La Sirena was dog friendly so we could enjoy with our whole family. La Sirena is the first home we’ve stayed that was dog friendly but PRISTINE. My daughter and I are very allergic to cats and short-haired dogs. The leather sofas were comfy and didn’t make us sneeze! I was a little nervous when I saw the plush carpet in the bedrooms but to my delight - no issues! The colorful walls and decor created a lovely backdrop to for our rest and relaxation. My husband said La Sirena gave him a happy scent memory - it smelled like his Aunties home. Our dogs enjoyed their stay too and appreciated being able to stretch their legs in the backyard and found the “facilities” spacious and pleasant. :O) The provided dog “earth offering bags” on the door handle were such a thoughtful touch! Instructions throughout the home were easy and much appreciated. Having a washer and dryer is such a perk and though we didn’t use them this time we loved the availability of the bikes, a beach wagon, and more. Akemi has thought of everything! This beautiful home is walking distance to the beach cliff path, coffee (Cat & Cloud is a fave), great restaurants (try Canton!), and an incredible indie bookshop (Two Birds). Further up 41st are several grocery stores, Target, and Capitola village is just under a mile away. There’s a mall nearby if that’s your jam. Akemi was a lovely hostess and we look forward to our next stay!

This is a really interestingly decorated in Spanish style Casita. The kitchen is very well equipped with a lot of appliances including blender mixer and nice match set of dishes and silver for 8. Very sweet private backyard with real grass! You might want to know that Other than a very large master bedroom, the rooms are small. Very comfortable beds, and very Friendly communications with the host.
