The hosts were wonderfully friendly and inviting. They allowed me to stay an extra night, at the last minute. I could not have chosen a more tranquil place to spend my evenings in Puerto Rico. The lodge sits back into a corner of woodland in a very quiet and safe neighborhood. My room looked out into the lovely trees, and two of the birds I had hoped to see in Puerto Rico came right to the Flamboyan trees to drink or sip nectar (photos below of Venezuelan Troupial and Puerto Rican Oriole). I left the screened windows open all night and heard the Puerto Rican Screech Owl too! Casa Campo is only a half hour from Guajataca State Forest, an hour from Maricao State Forest, and an hour and a quarter from Rio Abajo State Forest. The room was quiet, clean, comfortable, bright, airy, and aesthetically pleasing. Everything I needed for a good night's sleep and comfortable stay was provided. The shower and bathroom were very clean and the water pressure and temperature were great. The pool was perfect for a cool-off dip after a day of hiking. I just floated on my back and dreamed I could live there :) Regretfully, I did not have an opportunity to enjoy breakfast because the purpose of my trip was birding, so I was off into the forests before daybreak. The menu options looked absolutely delicious though, with pancakes and scrambled ham and toast.
There really wasn't a thing I did not like. If I have to come up with something, I like the windows open so, maybe a ceiling fan? :)

Breakfast options were eggs with toast or pancakes - good but expected more from a B&B. The room was very nice and clean and had a little balcony facing the forest. The location was excellent, very calm but still a short drive away from places of interest.
Unfortunately, the balcony view was interrupted by a pile of debris (I don't know if it was from the property or a neighbor). The longe was completely closed due to renovation, something we think should've been mentioned beforehand, for we felt we paid for a service that was not provided. We were not received upon our arrival, we had to walk hesitantly into the pool area and noticed an envelope with our name attached to one of the doors. I'm fine with no contact check-in but it was not announced anywhere nor did we receive an email or text explaining how check-in and check-out work. It lacked the coziness expected from a B&B.

Ivette is a wonderful person and an outstanding host. From the moment we arrived until we left the hotel, she was an exceptional host. She met us at the door even though we arrived very late at night, just before the check-in time had run out. She then greeted us, talked with us, and then showed us around the hotel. She even asked at what time we wanted her to bring us breakfast (right to our room's door, no less), and even asked us if we wanted her to bring us each breakfast at different times, so I could sleep a little longer. Needless to say, that is above and beyond the call of duty of any host, which is why we didn't make her do that but were impressed by her.
Even though the shortness of our stay, we were very happy in Casa Campo and will definitely come back and bring some family and friends. The rooms are spacious, the bathroom spotless and the beds quite comfortable. Moreover, every room has a balcony and the views are beautiful, it's pure nature right out your doorstep! The hotel also has a nice big pool, clean, reasonably big, and very nice, although we didn't swim. We would definitely recommend this jewel to anyone in the outskirts of San Sebastián.
There is only one problem but is not the fault of the hotel. Internet signal in that part of San Sebastián is very precarious because you are in the middle of the countryside, and sometimes the Wifi doesn't work. Anyways, there are plenty of better things to do there.
