I would recommend staying at the Hawthorn Craftsman.

This little Craftsman House is absolutely adorable and so full of charm! We were close to so many places to eat in a quaint and trendy part of town. Jodi was a great host and kept in contact with us regarding our stay. I would totally recommend this house to anyone and we would stay again when we come back to Portland.
Jodi, thank you so much for sharing your house with us! We really appreciate the hospitality.

Loved it! Could not have asked for anything better! The house is beautiful and we loved the neighborhood. We were able to walk anywhere for coffee, lunch, dinner, and drinks. We also walked to and hiked around Mt. Tabor. Jodi is a wonderful host too! Very attentive to any needs we might have. Great, interesting decor too. Wonderful place to stay while for our friend’s wedding! Highly recommend!

Absolutely perfect for a stay in Portland. Easy to get to anywhere. Lots of space in the house. Well equipped. Street parking available. Host was very responsive. All was great. There are 2 lovely double rooms, each with bathroom. Then a smaller room perfect for kids. Lounge & dining area open plan and very comfortable. Loved it.

Charming, comfortable, well-equipped home in a great location. Thoughtful host & kind neighbors. Would definitely return.

Very comfortable. Plenty of space for my husband and me and our 2 adult children. Well equipped kitchen with every option you might consider for making a good cup of coffee. Parking was never a problem. Several good casual eateries nearby as well as a good grocery store that served us well for breakfast provisions.

Everything was great. We had a few electrical challenges but managed to sort them out.

I stayed here for a month in September when our daughter had our first grandchild...it was perfect for my needs which were a place for myself and my husband, and extra rooms for family who were popping in and out to visit our new grandson. Location was 5 minutes from their home, and right around the corner from Hawthorne which has many restaurants and night life, and a quick mile walk to Mt Tabor for a safe place to get some exercise. The neighborhood always felt safe even when I stayed alone for a couple weeks, and the next door neighbor was a sweetheart and it felt like we became friends. Staying that long there were some questions that came up, and my host was super quick to get back to me with answers or a solution. Parking was really never a problem even though there is no driveway, I almost always was able to park right in front of the house. I would definitely stay here again and plan to when I will be in town visiting for more than a few days.

My family of four (two kids, 11 and 15) stayed here for one week at the end of July. The weather was absolutely perfect. We had some concerns coming to Portland with all we had heard going on in the city, but this house is in a great location. The neighborhood and house are charming. If you like old houses with detail and character, look no further. It is well appointed and homey and is more spacious than it appears. The front porch is a delight to sit on anytime! Street parking is not hard to come by and the next door neighbor even offered us her parking spot when she went away for a few days. There are great restaurants, coffee shops, and bakeries all within walking distance. We enjoyed Tabor Bakery, Never coffee, Por Que No and Apizza Scholl to name a few. Bites on Belmont is an outdoor collection of food trucks with some fun and different options. We used the house as a central place for day trips to the coast, Hood River area and Washington. It is a great location for this type of trip and most things are no more than 90 mins away. Highly recommend “Bike the Gorge” which is in Cascade Locks. We rented four bikes for two hours - it’s a beautiful paved bike path to ride through incredible forestry and a great hike to Wahclella Falls. We would definitely stay here again.

House is located in a popular bar and restaurant area. Apizza Scholl was fantastic as well as Jaciva, a great little bakery.

We love this house. We stayed here several years ago. The location is great, so many walkable shops and restaurants. Nicely stocked kitchen, large dining room and comfortable beds. What more could you need.

We were looking for a homey stay in this neighborhood to be near to family. This was the perfect choice. This home is delightful, offering so much character, as well as every possible appliance to make your stay complete. The neighbors and neighborhood is so welcoming! Put your feet up and enjoy this little beauty!

Firstly, this is an older home with typical quirkiness in a great urban location. Shopping, restaurants, and public transit are just out the door, but Jodi's house is on a side street, with very little noise. It is VERY well stocked, with pretty much anything you might need. Rounding out the experience, Jodi is extremely responsive and accommodating. We stayed over Christmas in a epochal storm. The house was comfortable and cozy and the walkable access to shopping proved to be a real plus.

Beautiful home and great host
This was a great home in a great location - I loved that bars restaurants, and eateries were all within walking distance. The check-in process is super easy, checkout process is simple enough, kitchen is fully stocked, and the host is very responsive, chill, and accommodating (I love the take some, leave some concept when it comes to the food and drinks in the house). This may be one of the best vbros I've stayed in. Thanks Jodi for a wonderful stay.

I chose Jodi's place for being like a home-- decorations, books, etc. and it was amazing how clean it was. Also amazing was how very quiet it was at night compared to my own urban home. It's as though the neighborhood decided to be silent after 9 pm. We enjoyed sitting on the porch too, comfy. We did not meet or talk with Jodi-- she was several time zones away and gave us a neighbor's name and number. Jodi responded quickly when I contacted her to when we arrived.
We enjoyed the Hawthorne neighborhood. Blew my mind: 40 vegan-friendly restaurants within 1 mile! We enjoyed several delicious meals at places within 2 blocks of Jodi's place. We stayed for 5 nights and street parking was easy to find.

The house was perfect for our family's vacation to the Pacific Northwest. The house was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable. The location was great for restaurants, downtown Portland, and day trips to the coast, Mt Hood, Mt Saint Helens. Thanks for the great stay!

Loved this property - beautiful older updated home in a lively, safe, friendly neighborhood. Sat out on the front porch and people-watched, walked 1 block to excellent restaurants and bars. Comfy beds, well-stocked kitchen and great communication from Jodi. Would absolutely recommend!

The location was great. We could walk to restaurants and shops. Very close to downtown. It was an older house. The third bedroom was small and had a strange bed/ couch in it. They had a/c standing units which cooled the house down. It was on street parking which at sometimes of day was hard to find a spot on street. We really enjoyed our stay

We traveled to Portland the last week of June, during one of the hottest weeks in the year (90s and 100s). We had my 70 y/o mom, 3 and 5 y/o kids and two adults staying in the house.
Lots of great attributes about the home: location, easy parking, walkability and distance to restaurants, grocery stores, freeway, stocked pantry (take and contribute), coffee maker (we don’t drink coffee, but imagine that they’d be happy with the equipment), a tea kettle, herbs and blueberries, fantastic porch with two chairs and a bench, washer and dryer in basement (light switch is down a few steps on the left pole) and the quick response time from owner re: our questions and when we accidentally locked ourselves out.
There were a few things I should mention as it’s an older house. The stairs are a little steep and creaky, and the outlets are limited in the rooms. Also, there is no AC in the house, but there is one portable AC unit upstairs, that can be swiveled to face the two bedrooms (primary and guest) upstairs. We also found a fan to use in the basement, as I mentioned the weather was extremely hot while we were there. There weren’t enough towels for all of us, but that was remedied on our third day.
One thing to note for parents of young kids: the dishes / utensils are very heavy duty and there isn’t any plastic dishware, except for a few Tupperware containers. We brought plastic cups and utensils for our kids to use because we didn’t want them to break anything.
All in all, we all enjoyed our stay in this home!

Fabulous home, great neighborhood
Beautiful, well-appointed house in fun neighborhood. Everything we could want in a vacation property. Able to spend quality time with our kids. So many great restaurants within walking distance (Apizza Scholls, Dar Salaam, Porque No, Tabor Bakery) so able to do takeout and eat together in the comfy dining room. Great walks/hikes to Mt Tabor, Lone Pine Cemetery, and around the neighborhood. Great shops on Hawthorne as well as New Seasons Market and Freddys. Loved being able to sit out on the porch morning and evening. Will definitely stay here again.

Christmas in Portland
We had a very comfortable stay in this lovely Craftsman home in the Sunnyside neighborhood. Everything was very clean and the kitchen was very nicely equipped. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Great location lots of shops, eateries and grocery in easy walking distance.
A little disappointed in the kitchen. We had a family Christmas dinner with a variety of sides. We didn't find any serving spoons to use or baking dishes. Also no saran or foil to cover leftovers. Not a big deal just wanted to mention.

Perfect extended-stay house
This house was so perfect for our extended stay in Portland while we were buying a house in another neighborhood. The details are all very well done (espresso maker, secluded backyard with barbecue, nice front porch to relax on). It had plenty of room for three of us, and the neighborhood itself has so much offer all in easy walking distance (movie theater, grocery stores, video game arcade, ice cream, restaurants and bars). If I didn't now live here, I would definitely stay here again!

Great experience and the house was just perfect for what we needed. This will be our home base in Portland from now on!

Swim meet travel
This house is just what we needed. It’s just about in the middle- close enough to downtown and the national parks that we actually did it all in four days. Owner is very helpful and responsive. I would highly recommend this house if you are traveling to Portland.

Great neighborhood, charming house, rocky communications
The house is in a wonderful location and it is a lovely home. The kitchen is well enough equipped to handle two days of blueberry jam making!! Be sure you get the correct check-in info, though. If the cleaners had not still been there when we arrived, we would not have gotten in. The email giving us our access code arrived a day late and the instructions I had were incorrect. So be sure to get check-in straight and you’ll have a great stay in pdx.

Perfect stay!
Charming two story house near Hawthorne was a perfect location to spend a week in Portland. The home exceeded expectations; roomy, clean, comfortable, fully stocked with everything we needed for our stay. Plus a lovely front porch with two comfy chairs to hang out, people watch, read a book. Also, backyard with grill on nights we stayed in. A block from all the happenings on Hawthorne, coffee shops, restaurants & boutiques. Loved that Powell's Books was within walking distance as wells as Ruby Jewels ice cream. Downtown Portland was a quick drive away. Communication was prompt, clear and easy. Also, easy access by coded lock made getting in & out also great. We would definitely return. 5 star rating. Thank you.

Great house in great part of town.
We had a great stay in this fantastic house in Portland’s SE Hawthorne neighborhood. The location is great - one block off Hawthorne, between The Baghdad and The Space Room, a short walk from all kinds of food, bars, coffee and shopping. The house was immaculate when we showed up - kudos to the cleaners! - well stocked with essentials like paper towels and TP. The house looked like it was staged for a showing when we walked in the door. The house is a lot larger than it looks in the pictures. It wasn’t clear from the pictures if the porch was wide enough to sit on comfortably, but the porch is plenty wide and big enough for 5 or 6 people to hang out comfortably, and we spent a lot of time in the porch. The house is a beautiful craftsman in a great Portland neighborhood. Access to everything is easy. I can’t say enough about the location, but if you are looking at a stay in Portland at this particular location then you already know how great it is. As great of a stay as you hope you will have in Portland’s SE Hawthorn neighborhood, this house definitely delivers. Enjoy!
