I just enjoyed the most relaxing and beautiful extended vacation at Hotel Bambú. It met my every expectation and then some. Service was relaxed and yet professional. The employees seemed truly happy. I consider myself a pretty low-maintenance guest, but whatever specific request I made, like a hammock on my balcony, was met with a cheerfully positive response.
I chose this hotel because of its unique location at the intersection of a river and the ocean. The views did not disappoint. I watched doves nesting and iguanas eating fruits from the trees just feet from my balcony. Even though the property is very much surrounded by nature, the grounds are kept so tidy that I never felt the need to wear shoes.
The owners are all about improving their sustainability practices, so if that’s important to you, this is your hotel. No, my room didn’t have air conditioning, but it did have a great fan and a mini-fridge. With the windows wide open, I fell asleep to the sound of the waves and woke up to the friendly chatter of the local birds. I even scored myself a free drink from the bar for collecting a bag of trash at the beach (you can too).
As a single female traveler, I felt very safe here. I never needed to leave the hotel grounds after dark if I didn’t want to because the on-site restaurant is open from 8 am-10 pm. The menu was loaded with terrific vegetarian options that rivaled any seafood-centered dish I tried.
Since I stayed for two weeks, I was able to take advantage of most of the hotel’s services, including a fantastic massage in the little spa and laundry services. My clothes came back quickly and ironed at a price I’m embarrassed to admit to paying ($5).
In short, if you’re looking for a safe, clean, kind, comfortable, sustainable home-far-away-from-home, this is it. It’s pet friendly too!
No negatives to report.

It is the best place to stay in Canoa. The location next to the river and beach across the street hosts lots of birds. The swimming pool was an added bonus. The food was very good and the restaurant staff was amazing!
We arrived Saturday afternoon and the music across the street started after supper and lasted till 3:00 am. Didn’t get much sleep here, unlucky in our timing, out of 5 nights the had two other fiestas ending around 2:00 am. If you want to party arrive on Friday or Saturday for the weekend. If you want to relax, Sunday to Thursday. They have new rooms and older ones. Our view was awesome but the mattress a little tired. Tendency to roll to center.

Everything was excellent. Staff extremely professional and friendly.

We had a great stay. Beach couldn't be closer, very friendly staff, great food and superb cocktails. Very dog friendly, nice pool, very nice rooms.
Weeknights were great but on Friday night the club next door played horrible , super-loud music until 2am. Not the hotel's fault but if you are planning on sleeping on a Friday, take ear plugs.

employees not very friendly, too many bugs and stray dogs

The room was spacious. Cushions on the bench were worn. Bed was comfortable. No A/C, but the fan made it nice.
NO HOT WATER IN THE SINK OR SHOWER!! I did tell someone, but no one did a thing about. Fortunately, the water was tepid and a quick shower could be had.

good location very close to beach.
Room was described as “Deluxe”. No AC or TV?!! Over priced. Food was good but service poor. waiter forgot my order but tried to collect for it. Just a mistake. staff was friendly.

Wonderful little hotel directly at the beach with really nice restaurant and bar.

Location literally on the edge of the beach, friendly and attentive staff, Bambú restaurant well known for its excellent food
I was charged 5% extra for paying with a credit card instead of cash.

The location is perfect!. Also The staff were so friendly, and the campaing of "Fill in a trash's bag, then exchange for a cocktail" is perfect to keep clean the beach and its surroundings.
I think that breakfast should be included in the price. In the other hand, the breakfast's was cheaper and so tasty.

Location: The hotel is right next to the Canoa river on the northern part of the Canoa beach. So it is not that far from the town (next to it) but close enough for your to visit it to do some shopping in the little craftsman's hut, try some local food (outside of the hotel), party or take a picture in the "CANOA" sign at the malecón (esplanade). The beach is just a couple of steps away from the hotel. You can also walk on the hanging bridge over the river. It's a nice place to take pictures.
The Hotel: It has everything you need! Restaurant, bar, small pool, small gym, parking lot and pet friendly (at $5 per pet, per night) Bambu has a great space for you to stay there and relax. You can play ping-pong or pool. You can relax next to the pool at the gazebo or at the benches. There's even a little bench to see the river directly. All the staff is friendly and willing to help with anything you need. Not all of them speak English, but those who don't make sure to find a way to help you.
Rooms: I stayed at the matrimonial suite. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. It has it's own balcony, private bathroom and was next to the river. We were able to hear the ocean, and the music from the town at a tolerable volume (you can hear it, but it won't disturb you). It had a little closet with a safe, a desk, fan and a minibar. Also a little couch and three hangers. Two little bed stands and a bench. The bed and pillows were comfortable and you'll be able to rest properly at the end of each day of your stay.
Food & Drinks: The restaurant and the bar have a nice deal of options. All prepared fresh and right there. The food can take a little bit of time to arrive (10 ~ 15 minutes) but they'll let you know about it in their menu. It's delicious and with the proper food portions. The price is good. Spot on! The drinks and cocktails are delicious as well! You should try "Pancho" and "Canoa Tropical".
The only thing I can think of was that there were no vegetarian options in the menu (or at least I didn't see them). Although I'm not a vegetarian myself, I think the Bambu Hotel can create some true vegetarian options (not just salads) for those guests that want them. The cooking staff is really talented and I'm sure they will be able to come with some great options in the future.
Another suggestion will be to tell guests that bring pets, to keep them with a leash or controlled. I traveled with my two dogs and we always had them with their respective leash at all times. Other guests didn't do so. Uncontrolled pets, that are not well managed or educated can cause trouble with other pets and/or the hotel dogs: Eli and Yuca.

The location is great. We enjoyed their good breakfast. Had dinner at the restaurant, and the food and drinks were good! It was so windy one night so we decided to stay at the restaurant and bar and staff was great.
Too many kids running around. One group of friends didn't want to deal with their kids so they reserve a big table for them while their running around crazy and just ignoring them. They should make this hotel adults only.

The location is very good.
Some important things were not available like glasses for brushing teeth, hand towel and supply of hand soap.

The pool usage should be controlled and timetable-split due to COVID.

I love all the amenities such as pool, restaurant, bar, live music, jacuzzi, wonderful location, just a few steps to the fantastic ocean
I been thinking for 15 minutes and I can’t think anything bad about this place

Beautiful rooms and location. Birds everywhere. Music at night in the bar.
Beds are hard but most beds in ecuador are hard. No air conditioning at all but it's not hot.just that I like to get away from the humidity.
Pool table is horrible. Firewood at best.
But we enjoyed our stay. Best food in canoa. Fair pricing. Staff is friendly but no management around at all. No coffee before 9am. I get up at 6am. Tough to get used to no coffee and no air but you do after a while. Beds are a different story. Hard to sleep good. It's hard to enjoy the beautiful rooms or location when you cant sleep and wake up tired and cant get coffee either. Most days I was wide awake at 5am sore. If they had good soft beds and coffee at 6am I would rate it a 10 across the board. I can forgive the air conditioning as is breezy and not unbearable at all.

Our Room, The Food, The Beach.
Didn’t think about needing Air-conditioning. They did provide a fan and we were fine.
