About this house rental
Particularly popular with families who are looking for a traditional Bavarian house in an idyllic location with lots of space and in absolute privacy. The house is well-equipped, clean and with a pleasant atmosphere. Three bathrooms have been renovated a few years ago, but the other rooms are not newly renovated. A hiking trail leads to alpine lodges. A 1,3 km walk to the lake offers a stunning view over the town of Tegernsee and its monastery where the famous ducal brewery house is located.
Animals and celebrations are prohibited in the house and in the outdoor areas of the property and loud noise must be avoided at all times to protect the neighbours. I M P O R T A N T: Silence must be observed on the terrace from 10 p.m.
All seasons, this charming country house, called “Landhaus Sonneneck”, offers peace and privacy and a wonderful panoramic mountain and lake view. All 3 floor bedrooms on the upper floor have a private balcony exit and a private bathroom, one with a spa bath. The 70m ² living and dining room with wood paneling and bay windows and the adjoining reading, play and/or bed room radiate warmth and comfort. The interior is traditional and in part older. The large, sunny south-facing terrace leads to the spacious garden with sunbathing lawn, streamlet, children-trampoline and basketball hoop. North of the house is the driveway and parking on the property.
For the event that any questions arise during your stay, I can always be reached via telephone. You will also get the telephone number of the very friendly caretake of the house, Mrs. C, who lives 10 minutes away by car from the house and can come to the house, if necessary.
Walking and hiking trails to the mountain restaurants Neureuth (normally open Tuesday - Sunday), Kreuzberg and Galaun (normally open Wednesday to Monday) lead past the house. It is about 100 meters to the next restaurant. The village center with a variety of shops, cafes, restaurants and the unique Bavarian brewhouse restaurant Bräustüberl is only about 1-1,5 km away and can be reached on foot in 15 minutes. In spring, summer and autumn, the Tegernsee valley is a paradise for sailors, windsurfers, golfers, hikers and mountain bikers. In winter, it is just a few minutes walk from the house to the ice skating rink. The ski resort Spitzingsee / Tegernsee (access via Rottach / Sutten), the small ski lifts of Hirschberg and Oedberg (prepare ski slope) and the Wallberg cable car (non-prepared ski slope and 6 km toboggan run) can be reached in a few minutes by car.
Bathing possibilities and wellness at the Tegernsee: TEGERNSEE: The next swimming possibility you find in front of the lawn between Alpbachmündung and the town hall of Tegernsee with nearby rental of small electric boats (both north and/or south of the bathing area). Especially charming is a walk from Landhaus Sonneneck to Badehalbinsel Tegernseer Point (from the house in south-eastern direction, then over the Alpbach Bridge and past old Tegernseer houses). - GMUND: Passing the Haus Sonneneck, a trail with many beautiful viewpoints leads to the beach restaurant Seeglas in Gmund (with beach, sailboat and windsurfer rental, children's playground and shipping berth). - MONTE MARE: The Seesauna Tegernsee awaits you with its unique sauna boat, boathouse with relaxation rooms, an outdoor pool and direct access to the lake. - ROTTACH-EGERN: heated outdoor pool with beach.
Hiking, mountain biking other activities: The country house is the ideal starting point for HIKING and MOUNTAINBIKE TOURS. To the beautifully situated mountain inn Neureuth (on an alpine meadow with breathtaking views of the Tegernsee and the Alps, Monday rest day, when Mo. holiday, then Tuesday rest day) you walk about 75 minutes. If you want, you can hike from there to Schliersee and from there take the train Bavarian Oberlandbahn back to Tegernsee. - HÖHENWEG: With many beautiful vantage points, the trail leads past Landhaus Sonneneck in a northerly direction to Gmund and to the south, via the Leeberg Höhenweg, to Rottach-Egern. From Gmund and Rottach-Egern line ships operate back to the town of Tegernsee. - CABLE CAR: To the south of Rottach-Egern you can take the cable car up to the Wallberg, from where you have a view of the Zugspitze.
Sailing, windsurfing, horseback riding and tennis: You will find SAILINGBOATS and WINDSURFER for rent in several places or attend courses, among others at the sailing school Stickl in Gmund. You can experience nature and history on the nearby Lake Chiemsee on a sailing trip or boat trip to Herreninsel (with Herrenchiemsee Castle).
HORSE RIDING: The extensive Weissachtal near Rottach-Egern invites you to take a ride.

Perfect venue for a large family gathering. This is a really big property with extensive gardens. It is perhaps in need of some renovation but the spectacular views more than make up for this.
The walk to the lakeside is a bit steep so we recommend a car as essential for anyone trying not to overdevelop their calf muscles!
Our host was really helpful in booking the local restaurant for our first evening and communicated well with us in advance.

The property has made a huge difference. Amazing location (a bit up hill but so close to the lake with amazing views!) and enough space for our large family, amazing outside space and activities that kept everyone happy and busy.

Geräumiges Ferienhaus in toller Lage

Very pleasant stay
I can highly recommend this pleasant, rambling older style house on the outskirts of Tegernsee. My husband, myself and 4 teenage children stayed for 3 nights in December. The house was warm and comfortable with plenty of room for everyone. The views are lovely. The furnishings and kitchen are older in style, but the beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms are modern and luxurious. The 3 upstairs bedrooms all had ensuites which was great with our kids! There was plenty of kitchenware, beautiful fluffy towels and good quality linen. The village and surrounds are lovely. There is a great restaurant just up the street where we had a wonderful Bavarian meal. The owner and housekeeper were very welcoming and helpful.
The house is on a short private road and access may be difficult if there has been heavy snow, a four wheel drive vehicle would have been useful but we managed to get in and out with only winter tyres and a little snow shovelling.
We will definitely stay again!
