The cottage is beautiful and had everything we needed, except a freezer for our ice but I know that this is being rectified. It was so cosy we didn’t venture out the first night. The next day the stroll into and back from Buxton was easy and the fish and chips a few doors away were great. The owner’s communication was fantastic and she was great with every question we asked. There were plenty of towels and the bedding was clean and beds comfy. There is a main road outside but we barely noticed it.
We will definitely be back, in fact we didn’t want to leave.
If one of the rooms had twin beds instead of a double but by no means spoilt anything.

Bedrooms were a great size and comfortable.
Needs TLC through out and better cleaning, especially bins inside and out .

The cottage was reasonable and for the purpose of my visit the location was good. However, it isn't very near the town centre if you're not a seasoned walker and expect to walk to town within minutes.
Communication with the cottage owner was limited. The mattress in the back bedroom could do with an upgrade as it's a bit lumpy and tired. The microwave is basic and doesn't heat food well. The cottage wasn't ready for check-in on arrival.

Dishwasher would have been handy and a lamp for lounge room

spacious
dirty grout on bathroom tiles and no freezer

Great sized cottage for a weekend in Buxton. Super clean and good communication with host.
Not a dislike but just worth noting that there is t designated parking. Wasn’t an issue for us though.

Harpur Cottage is a warm and cosy cottage a short drive from Buxton Town Centre. The accommodation comfortably allowed for 5 adults and Tom provided a high chair and cot for the baby. The cottage has a useful porch entry for wet jackets and muddy boots when coming home from walking.
The minimal kitchen utensils called for slightly creative solutions but nonetheless were sufficient for simple meals - bear in mind too that there is no freezer and so any ice cream will have to be eaten in the car on the way home from the supermarket! Parking is on the road directly in front of the cottage and there is just enough space for 2 vehicles. The road is fairly busy however and is quite loud from the 2 bedrooms to the front of the property.

The location of the property was central for the walking we had planned.
We did not feel comfortable leaving the car on the road outside the property, so it was a walk away to find suitable parking. The garden and back yard could do with some attention. The inventory was limited basic equipment like bottle or tin opener were not available.

Great location in a quiet village
Spacious with modern decoration
Great pub nearby with delicious meals
Lovely big dining kitchen with cooking and cleaning basics supplied
100% would return
Parking was not ideal but was manageable to find a space on nearby streets
Some of the cookware could do with being replaced
It would have been nice to have a welcome book with ideas for day trips, takeaway menus etc. Potentially this had been removed due to COVID-19

Got wrong code to get in the property ,Internet wasn’t working but got fix the next day, 5 pax 2 night we got 2 rolls of toilet tissue so I have to buy my own toilet paper, The house was clean and tiny also parking is available just on the road feel not safe. Cleaner arrived before checkout time.

Very comfy beds
Good sized rooms
No dishwasher
Traffic noise for those sleeping in the front two bedrooms
Could have done with a waste paper basket in the bedrooms and living room.

Location is great if you want to do walks/ hikes in the Peak District - 30 mins max to many of the best places, some much closer. If you are going to Buxton for festivals it is close enough to get a taxi or drive.
The housing estate opposite has been completed, so no likely disturbance from construction any more.
The house is comfortable in the lounge. Bedrooms are small, and at least one bed needs upgrading. Furniture (including beds) is cheap, but at least there are drawers to unpack luggage on a longer stay.
TV very good, and Wifi worked well during our stay.
Parking is 'free' but as other reviewers have said, this means parking on the road outside. Not good (busy road, not wide, none of the neighbours park on the road). You will have to find somewhere safer/ bettter, and owner should give better advice.
There is only one toilet (in the bathroom). Shower is good.
The garden / terrace boasted in the description is exaggerated: the front garden is tiny and facing the busy road, so no pleasure to use.
The back of the cottage is a public alleyway down the rear of the terrace of houses. The bins were full during our visit, not at all pleasant. Better facilities for rubbish and recycling needed.
Because there is such pressure on UK accommodation currently (after lockdown) the price was sky high, and does not reflect what this property would be worth in normal times.
Equipment in the kitchen is basic (no dishwasher, no freezer) so probably not great for those who want to cook.
The chippy just along the road is good. The shop great for milk and basics. We did not try the pub.

Very comfortable, clean cottage with everything provided that is needed. We had a lovely stay.
There was roadworks going on outside the cottage but it wasn't the fault of the cottage owner.

cottage was clean comfortable and warm, when we turned the thermostat up.
internet was a bit temperamental . usually came good eventually though.

Lovely decor, clean, warm, comfortable and well equipped.
On a busy road, there’s also a building site opposite so a bit noisy.

Good location, lots of nice walks within a 15 min drive. Good facilities. Good pub at the end of the road (The Parks Inn). Friendly and helpful host. If eating out, would recommend a short drive to The Merchant's yard for the fantastic Sunday roast as well as The Lone Star in Buxton centre followed by a drink at Monk bar!
Beds/mattresses could do with being updated. The lock on the inside door was slightly loose so could do with tightening up. A bit of a freshen up with a lick of paint would improve the place but nice stay nonetheless :)
