positive people and nice food / kitchen
a little bit expensive

Breakfast Curry was probably my favorite in Sri Lanka. My girlfriend and I actually had the entire hotel to ourselves as we were the only guests that night. Was a nice stay, right on the beach though maybe not the nicest stretch of beach in Sri Lanka.

Great accommodation if you want to relax peacefully and comfortably. The hotel staff is very helpful, caring and responsive. We definitely want to come back! Everything was wonderful -the food, service, cleanliness, caring! Many thanks to all the staff for making our holiday ideal

Great looking villa! Good food, tasty coffee :) The beach is a bit wild, but soooo beautiful. The ocean is so warm! Very cool pool!
We felt very private and comfortable, like at home 🤍
Nothing to write about

The grounds are beautiful and immaculately kept. There is a huge, beautiful swimming pool and swimming pool area where I passed most of my time relaxing in a bikini. The architecture of the place is fantastic with high ceilings and tastefully decorated. My room was spacious and very comfortable.
The food was great and you can ask the chef if they are able to get you meals that are not on the menu: for example, I asked for grilled fish with vegetables and a couple of occasions. Food is safe.
All the staff are very nice and helpful. Please be kind, as for many of us English is not the first language and sometimes this may generate misunderstandings.
This was my first holiday in four years and where I managed to relax properly. As a female solo traveler, I always felt safe at the Villa and in Sri Lanka in general. I would highly recommend the Villa for a relaxing holiday and as a base to visit sights in the area. Thank you to everyone at the Villa for a great break!

The property was very relaxing, it is small which gave allowed for lots of personal touches.
The food selection from the al a carte menu was quite small.

The food was excellent, both continental and local menus. Great rooms and ambience, fantastic view from our ocean-facing room. Nice pool.
Beach is not a swimming beach (although that's hardly the hotel's fault), and services are not as prompt on weekdays due to reduced staffing.

Booked last minute and arrived at 10pm but Manager Chintika, his deputy, and staff literally came to the van door on other side of the hotel entrance to welcome and greet us, so at first I thought they were going to say something was wrong!! They had staff there with fresh watermelon juice on a tray and a moist warm face towel, so this was a very nice touch. This caliber service and hospitality continued our whole 3 day stay. Then we got the tour which included the kitchen!!! It felt so homey and my friend and I really appreciated them even showing the kitchen, which was spic and span, and we met the chefs, who have all won gold metal national competition together cooking.
Walk in,see straight through and partially it's open air, with a pretty wooden walkway flanked by koi ponds.
Each common area space is stunning in its own way--modern and clean lines with gorgeous dark wood and airy spaces but also air con common area spaces to plop on a couch or at a bar and chill with a gorgeous view of the property. Stayed at room off of pool, loved room and huge doors that lock securely yet can open 4steps to pool. People were never in pool! Very quiet.
Hotel property is intimate, 7 rooms total, so you can literally be there and see not another soul and feel like it's your home.
The staff is always ready to help in any way--they are not always visible but the way the property is, they can usually see you and tell you're looking for them so then they pop out of the woodwork literally.
Need a ride? Tik tuk driver lives right next door or they can call another one. Safe to walk around, we walked to grocery.
I LOVED the dark cane sugar chunks so much I asked for some to take home and to charge me, but they didn't charge me and gave me a nice packet of it!!!
The hotel soaps and lotions are the yummy Ceylon brand you see everywhere. They buy it in bulk and fill up the regular containers. Aloe vera, too!
FOOD IS AMAZING.
Beach chairs are comfy and recline...
More of what I LOVED as I ran out of room lol:
AMAZInG FRENCH PRESS COFFEE, NOT NESCAFE! for breakfast next day, choose British type or Lankan. Tons of food. I loved the Lankan, I never get British but my colleague did. Chef makes amazing pastries, too! Ask for his croissants or swirled coffee cake.
Chefs competed and won gold medal for modernizing Sri Lankan food; I missed Sri Lankan food on the menus which were more Euro and high end, but when I'm there I want Sri Lankan as that's the novelty to me. So that would be my one recommendation, to give us what you competed with, etc. But we loved getting our craving of pasta carbonara filled after 1.5 weeks of Sri Lankan and Asian food! Also I wish the prices of the food were a bit lower. We went nearby for fish and lobster at a much lower price.
The beach could be cleaned a teeny but more frequently of small debris and the walkway to the outdoor shower could be fixed to be more barefeet-friendly, and the fence isn't the best visual but the gate is nice, between the yard and the beach.
Also, it would be nice if the staff came out to you @beach to ask if you wanted to order anything; otherwise they always take care of you and you can order before you go out. Having a French press amazing coffee at the beach in the morning is superb. And the special passion fruit juice we got..thank you!
Note the sand is beige and coarse, and you have the picturesque bendy palm trees that are great for that lush vibe and beachy pix!
This is NOT a complaint at all but: If having 10-15 local fishermen and fisherwomen (usually congregated away from hotel area) fish with a big net they put out and in for a couple of hours isn't your thing, it may not be the best spot for you. But welcome to the real world! I hope they never move for any hotel, it's their right, we're the ones on their land! We loved it and helped them, it was beautiful. But they don't catch much which is sad.

The hotel is extremely well designed. The territory is outstandingly nice. Sunsets were the best! It is a great and very calm place (just a few rooms). Breakfast, dinner everything was very tasty. The staff is very helpful. If you are asking for something, you can be sure that it will be done! Beach is very clean and beautiful. It is not crowded with tourists like in Bentota. Highly recommend!

We stayed at The Villa Contemporary by Ceylon just for one night, but the time we spent there was just perfect.
Thanks to the staff and the whole place will make you feel special all time. For example when we wanted to play pool, the staff saw that there is a thousand mosquitoes and immediately bring us some repelents, electric repelent and spray all room. Even the chef came to give us a hand and ask us what we would prefer for breakfast/lunch/dinner. And the food was really great.
They let us to stay at the hotel and relax by the pool until our flight was operated, which was nice. We stayed at room with garden view, which was big and beautiful, but im sure that all rooms are perfect.
The sea in front of the hotel is very wild and there are big waves. But the pool is beautiful, so you can easily stay there.
Sometimes orders from the bar really takes ages, but staff is so nice, that you have to forgive them:-)
