Breakfast was good- the hotel was full the weekend we were there
Hotel felt a bit more corporate than I was expecting ( despite the name!)

I stayed here for the Wagner Bayreuth Festival, as most people were; it seems to be a popular hotel for this purpose, and has several amenities targeted to the opera crowd. The major reason we picked the hotel is that it's one of the few hotels in town with central AC, which worked perfectly in our room. The breakfast buffet was good for European standards, though basic if you're comparing to Asian hotels; one fun feature is the unlimited self-serve prosecco, so you could have bottomless mimosas if you choose with your breakfast. The breakfast also turns more into a brunch buffet at around 1130am (and last until 1 or 2pm, if I recall); we took part in this once as we woke late - basically the "hot" breakfast items (eggs, bacon, sausages) get swapped out for things like roasted vegetables, semmelknoedel, etc., there's a salad station and some cold items (e.g. potato salad) brought out. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way for this brunch buffet, but it's a nice bonus if you decide to take a leisurely morning in preparation for the marathon 6-hr opera that evening starting at 4pm. Before the opera, the hotel also hosts a simple reception with some fruit, snacks, and (again) bottles and bottles of prosecco, along with coffee, tea, and juices. There is free transportation to the Festspielhaus, which is convenient (though if you want to take the shuttle back, they require payment); most people just walk back since it's downhill and only about 15-20min through quiet residential streets. Lots of German people drive to visit Bayreuth, and the underground parking garage seems very convenient.
Despite its pluses (the free flowing alcohol throughout the day I found especially amusing), I found the hotel very strange. The hotel itself is quite old - it seems very stuck in the 80's and could use significant upgrading; I would really consider the decor and furnishings to be at a 3-star standard. The bed was on the hard side, towels are thin, pillows are flat. There's no blackout blinds in the room, so in the morning, light completely comes in through the plaid curtains. The room was also small and not particularly comfortable for lounging, so most people tend to linger in the dining hall or lobby. Despite billing itself as a 4-star property, I think the facilities really are quite basic... especially at the price point they charge (but alas, you're paying for the Festival "surge" pricing).

Overall, the hotel is fine, the rooms are comfortable, the breakfast was fine and the location is nice and quiet.
I arrived at about 7.45 pm to be told that since I wasn't part of a group there was no dinner on offer. When I asked where I could get some food, since I was hungry, all I got was a shrug of the shoulders. Fortunately, I had walked to the hotel from the train station (about a 12 min walk) and passed an Italian restaurant with take away capability at about the halfway point. I had not expected to be sitting in my room eating a take away pizza on my first night!

Dinner in the restaurant was exelent. Garage was good for a big car. Every single person on staff great.
Nothing to complain.

Excellent location and very friendly staff, wonderful breakfast
Air conditioning did not work in the room, but the staff was hyper-efficient to relocate us to a different room.

This was our third stay at the Arvena Kongress for the Bayreuth Festival. We'll certainly stay here every time we're fortunate enough to get tickets for the festival. Food, transportation, location, etc. is perfect for a visit to the festival.
4.1
Location very suitable and quiet. Central Bayreuth and Festspielhaus within comfortable walking distance. Our room was spacious
and reasonably comfortable. The shower head was faulty but we didn’t this to the attention of management, who we are would have attended
to it.
As a conference hotel it was over functional for our purposes.
Breakfast arrangements were unsatisfactory generally. At peak times there were insufficient tables. There did not seem to be
a staffing structure in place to manage this, and it was very difficult to attract the attention of the staff to help with appropriate seating.
