In the words of my 5 year old son “The most horrendous hotel”

Beautiful palace, which is why it’s such a shame.

Please believe every bad review you read. This hotel is completely false advertisement in every way, it ruin our trip to Porto for us as a family. We’ve never been so happy to leave a city. The staff are as rude as you could ever imagine, no one wants to serve whether it’s in the restaurant or bar. It’s painful to get a drink anywhere. The food at breakfast is digesting, nothing in a fridge or on ice all at room temperature festering in the heat. Waiters clothes filthy, filthy dirty long nails put you off ordering. The rooms are so dirty, cleaners go so fast and we passed so many sat on beds in rooms just on their phones or chatting. There was a plastic packet on the floor of the hallway for 3 days that they’re all too lazy to think to pick up. Indoor pool is so dirty, the floor when you enter has brown dirt all over it. The pool outside has pigeons bathing in it and drinking the water from it all day. The rooms are so dark, they only have blackout curtains. The colour of everything is like a mustard/ vomit colour from floor to ceiling. Stains all over the carpet in rooms and hallway, must avoid being bare foot at all costs. A very badly managed hotel, filled with rude lazy staff- avoid at all cost, we managed to find some good restaurants for breakfast and dinner which saved us. Try the Yeatman Hotel, which is actually 5 stars all round. The is a “Portuguese 5 stars” which is more like a 2 stars.

Perfeitos para dias de sol a beira do Rio Douro

o Hotel é muito bonito e tem uma infra estrutura incrível. Destaque para a piscina a beira do Rio Douro. As áreas comuns sao muito bonitas e bem preservadas. Conseguimos a reserva para o Jantar que foi um dos pontos altos da estadia. A comida é muito boa e a equipe bem preparada e muito simpática

O hotel como um todo é meio escuro o que eu acho que tem a ver com a proposta de estar em um palácio mas, em determinados momentos isso acaba atrapalhando. O estacionamento assim como o espaço para o jantar são limitados então corre o risco de não conseguir parar o carro e nem jantar. Tivemos um episódio que algumas pessoas que estavam na orla do Rio invadiram o espaço da piscina e pularam na piscina. Foi meio inconveniente e acho importante ficar atento a esse ponto ja que no momento não havia nenhum segurança do hotel presente.

Een oase van rust op korte afstand van het drukke Porto in een bijzondere lokatie, aan de Douro.

Het hotel is een bijzondere combinatie van een mooi gerenoveerd barokpaleis en een fabriek omgevormd tot hotelkamers: het geheel is met elkaar verbonden en leidt soms tot een bizarre zoektocht naar je kamer en terug en naar het hoofdgebouw. Uitstekend restaurant en mooie salons ; een prachtig openluchtzwembad en binnenbad met spa.Verbinding met Porto dat op 5km ligt gebeurt met een shuttle service die echter niet vaak genoeg rijdt. Service was vaak chaotisch en niet altijd verzorgd zoals je zou verwachten in een klassehotel.

Não vale o investimento, o palácio é lindo e apenas.

O palácio é lindíssimo.

Quarto escuro, corredor escuro, fui utilizar a piscina coberta e não tinha serviço disponível no local, ao questionar a recepção informaram que tinha um evento no dia e que nenhum funcionário ia querer fazer isso. Inaceitável para um hotel que se diz 5 estrelas.

Pretty ans comgortable hotel with great restaurant and overall service

Pretty hotel, comfortable rooms, nice restaurant with good food and service, downtown shuttle.

Slightly uncomfortable to move between buildings (main palace vs rooms. Easy to get lost.

Magical place in the dark!!

Beautiful place

Location was far from city center, interior so dark we couldn’t see around our room, not nearly enough lights. Food was awesome. Great staff except for one guy who seemed a bit off.

Exceptional

Grand palatial rooms, very relaxed environment, excellent service, our upgraded river view room was spacious and comfortable, tea/coffee in the room, hotel provides a small shuttle to Porto city center which is very nice and can be well timed to go to and from hotel. Everything at the hotel and on the grounds is very clean and tidy. Perfect stay.

The nice outside swimming pool, with towels available (only the bar at the pool was closed). This pool has a great view on the river

The rooms are in a very dark building, with a small window. The room was ready when we arrived at 2.30, but the person at the reception asked us to wait for a few minutes so that she could check if our room was ready .

Exceptional Hotel, position and facilities with a super, luxury breakfast.

The hotel was really exceptional, as was the fantastically lavish breakfast and the wonderful breakfast staff - really wow. A fantastic 5 star experience.

Unfortunately the bar staff were very inattentive and the front desk staff seemed to require a little extra training. It wasn't quite as slick as everything else.

A night at the Palace

The breakfast was very good and as it was a birthday celebration, the hotel delivered sparkling wine and chocolate to the room.

We believed we had booked to stay in a Palace but reality was we stayed in a converted mill which was very dark with small windows. The view from the bedroom was of a working factory and car park. Also a 600% mark up on beer in the mini bar was excessive. The dining room was also cold.

location, location, location! right on the river and so beautifully furnished. Firm, luxury bedding. Attentive staff. Especially enjoyed the tasteful Christmas decorations! Just perfect!
