Acorn Lodge was magical! We stayed here after Christmas and it did not disappoint! The house itself is absolutey gorgeous. Each bedroom was well stocked with lines and blankets. The kitchen had everything necessary. It was perfect. Please take the description seriously. This house is on the side of a mountain. The roads are steep, twisty, and narrow. We had a four wheel drive vehicles and one front wheel drive (with chains if necessary). It snowed which was amazing but also limits trips to town without the right vehicle. Chains do not help in ice and it was icy. While the town may not have had ice and snow the mountain did. The guest book mentioned it can also be slippery during the leaf season. You just need to be prepared. Additionally there are slightly better directions available that are not as steep. I found these in the guest book. I called the rental place and suggested they include these other directions. These directions along with a timed departure (in the middle of the day when the roads had slightly thawed) is what allowed the front wheel drive car to get down the to the main road safely. We also brought all our food and supplies so this limited our need to travel on the roads. But there are stores and restaurants close by down the mountain. Do not let the roads scare you, because it was worth the trip! This is a truly magical place.

Cabin is located in the most ideal location if you plan to go Sugar or Beech Mt. Close proximity to local trails. Also only 10 minutes from the nearest stores. Parking at the property will require a bit of coordination of your party. Access to property was fairly easy, if the roads are dry any car can access the property however i recommend a 4WD/AWD in the winter months

Great cabin with lots of space to spread out but still has a very cozy feel. The kitchen was well stocked and very organized. There seemed to be some moisture issues in the master bathroom but that was the only negative thing about the whole place. Great cabin for family!

Weather wasn’t great so we were thankful that the cabin provided entertainment for the kids and even the adults. Enjoyed the location as well!! Overall would love to come back and stay in the future.

Great location, lots of room, fun things in house

We had a great time. Very spacious house. Nice kitchen with a big table and loved the upstairs loft with pool table. One thing that was disappointing is the view of the mountains was obstructed with the trees. Overall very happy with the house and Seven Devils appears to be a very quaint town and closeby to Boone, Banner Elk and Blowing Rock.

Needs some repairs and TLC
The house was cute and location was great but it needs some work. The sliding doors are all broken and sooo difficult to move. The refrigerator door was falling apart. There were no soaps to wash hands and not shower toiletries. The house was clean and we have a great time but it could use some TLC especially for the price being charged.

Mountain trip
Excellent place to stay with 10 or 11 people. We enjoyed being at the top of the mountain but the drive up and down from the house was quite steep with some sharp turns!

Great location
The house was awesome fit all 12 of us comfortably. It did not feel like you were on top of one another with plenty of room. The decks and the hot tub were really nice as well.
Take the advice they give so you have a GREAT vaca. If the weather is going to be wintery take a 4x4 or chains. The main roads are salted but the drive ways are up hill and unsalted. We had 3 4x4 trucks that had no problem with the ice and snow it was a breeze. The car we took .... well let's just say the morning we left we got 4" of snow with 20 degree night and it was a good thing we had 6 decent size men with us to help get it up a few hills om the way down that morning. The overall house is everything you want in a mountain vacation.
Thanks for allowing us in your home. We had a great time!!

It was extremely nice and comfortable but I would not attempt to stay there with a regular or all wheel vehicle if there is snow . In that instance a 4 wheel drive vehicle is necessary

Weekend Getaway
We had an amazing time at the Acorn Lodge. We could not have found a more perfect house for our weekend getaway. There was plenty of room for the 4 couples to relax and enjoy the most spectacular view of Grandfather Mountain. Plans are already in the making for another trip to this cozy mountain lodge!

Great house- bring a 4x4
There were four adults and five kids staying with us. There was plenty of space for everyone. The house is well kept and fully stocked. My only complaint was the drive to get to the house- holy moly! We were fortunate there was no bad weather during our stay or getting to and from the house would have been impossible. I saw in the notes that a 4x4 was suggested but it really should have said not to even attempt that drive in the winter without one. We loved our stay. Beautiful home.

Beautiful and clean
Close to everything, but remote enough to enjoy the nature

Very beautiful property in a lovely setting.
The location of Acorn Lodge is ideal to the town for essentials and also for venturing out on nice walks. A short drive to Otter Falls, and to the zip line, and also Grandfather Mountain for hiking. The home is just beautiful with high end amenities. Comfortably laid out for quiet time alone, or perfect for large gatherings. We enjoyed our stay very much. One of our favorite places thus far when we travel to the mountains.

Beautiful home, great views!
We had a great time here! The view was especially beautiful when we got 5 inches of snow while staying here! Lots to do in this great family sized home!

Fantastic property
Great Cabin in the woods, very well maintained and VERY organized. Plenty of things to do both winter and summer.

Great House, Great View, Wonderful Trip
This house and view was amazing. We had a wonderful trip. Home was clean and inviting. Plenty to do in the home and the surrounding area. The teenagers loved the air hockey table and pool table. The television downstairs allowed for scary movies while the main room allowed the adults to watch football. We will definitely book the house again in the future.
