Very humid and smelly

A small “boutique” hotel. Good sized room but decor v tired. A 10 minute walk from the middle of town and the beach. Reasonable breakfast. Quite a nice small garden. Free on street parking.
It needs freshening up. The desk is only staffed for part of the day. The staff are helpful when they are there

Very nice Location in the Quartiere St. Charles. Nice old building surrounded by a big garden. Rooms in a Retro-Style.
Very nice breakfast except the coffee.
The towels were sometimes smelly.
In case of problems with mosquitos, get directly help from the staff. They have got good ideas and advice to handle the problem.

Standard breakfast a bit small, - go for the a la carte!

Great location and very close to the beach, cafe and restaurant.
The bed and pillows were awful and no air con in the room. Got eaten alive by mosquitoes having to sleep with the windows open. Breakfast was expensive for what it was.

I am staying in this hotel not first time, not only because is has excellent location value for money, but has very nice feeling as a property it self .
Because hotel is surrounded by the trees you definitely need something from mosquitoes.

Great location in a residential area of Biarritz and within walking distance of everything. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. the beds are very comfortable and the rooms are well sized. Will definitely stay at Saint Charles again.

The terrace off our room was nice - would have loved some more comfortable seating options out there. Area is very quiet and the gardens are beautiful. Lovely spot for someone looking to get away from the main tourist area
Breakfast has to be pre-ordered the day before and is not included. We got charged to for cups of awful drip coffee we didnt ask for. Staff is mostly absent during the day. This is definitely not a three star hotel - very much a boarding house. Wouldn't recommend to travelers.

Once in a while, when you travel, you come across a little hidden gem of a place that stays with you forever, and ensures your holiday is everything you wished it could be. I can safely say this was my experience at this wonderful establishment. After a gruelling winter weathered summer in the UK, I was adamant I needed to see the sun one last time before I bury myself under the winter blanket. 3 days later I arrived in Biarritz;l I wanted was adventure, a bit of love and the sun of course. As soon as I was greeted by the charming owner Zara, I just had that feeling you get when you stumble upon something others haven’t quite discovered yet. The hotel itself is a beautiful old building, nestled in a charming overgrown garden- with architecture reminding me of the colonial houses in New Orleans. My welcome was warm, genuine and caring, and engaging; The reception lasted 20 minutes, with some amazing recommendations of restaurants (all of which I visited in my next 4 days- and boy was she right!) as well as a proper map of Biarritz. Straight away I felt welcome, and ready for my adventure.
However, what transpired over the next 4 days I just cant really put into words. Yes the room was lovely, yes the hotel is cute, and yes its all round very charming. However its not that, that leads me to write this review- and I must say as as a frequent traveller I never leave I never leave reviews- but its genuinely the people there that touched my heart and made my Biarritz trip one I will never forget. By day 4, we were invited to dine with the entire staff body for the owners birthday, welcoming me like part of their mad tribe, making me feel like this hotel was my home. I was away from home, but at home at the same time. The entire staff body here, with beaming beautiful smiles on their faces, let a randomer sit at their table (...continued below)
(continued from above) tell tales and drink their wine, with love, affection, and genuine genuine warmth. And I cannot thank them enough.
Sometimes holidays come down to single moments, and although I had the most amazing time in Biarritz because of multiple reasons (I loved the surf, and the food is unreal), there is one memory I will never forget. Following this amazing birthday dinner, I was allowed to hang with the team just outside the kitchen, leading onto the back garden, as well as another couple of guests who had been welcome as warmly as me, and we all stood there, this mad group of misfits who hadn’t known each other a few days earlier, and we huddled round each other like we’d been friends for life. I remember looking around, and although chances are I may never come across these people again in my life, my cup felt entirely full right then. And for me, that’s what I need when I go on holiday, especially one to warm the soul before the winter cold sets in.
I know the owner had grand plans with the hotel, and other hotels in the future, and I know covid knocked some of the plans back. But I hope she persevere, because if she does, the world is her oyster.
Thanks you hotel St Charles,
Kam x

The Hotel Saint Charles in my favorite hotel in Biarritz. It is charming, has wonderful staff, beautiful and in a fantastic area of town. When you stay in centerville, it can be very loud. Off in Saint Charles it is just a short walk to centerville, yet removed enough to be peaceful.

Set back from the road this 17th century villa town house has lots of charm, and the staff were great.
We walked everywhere and there are all you could wish for nearby
It’s a bit tatty, but has a charm to it
Our room was a little on the small size (Room 5)
