the ambience of the property was really relaxing and nice

Stayed in the deluxe tent and it was lovely- very comfortable! This is a lovely location, fantastic scenery and loved watching the birds from the terrace. The hot tub was a great experience. Staff were lovely and food was delicious. Also really enjoyed my massage. Luxury stay for a very reasonable price.

Location. ambience, food, the owners(Steve and family) are very thoughtful and amazing people. Nature lovers.
Difficult to reach with smaller cars. Roads are too steep and narrow. Taxis always ask for more because their car suffers to drive up the hill.

Shivapuri is a magical place. From the staff, to the location and view - its breathtaking. The beds are huge and comfortable. I came with a group of friends and stayed in the Poinsetta cottage and Jasmine cottage. Both were exceptional.
I didn't like that I had to leave!

As there are not that many good options available, I would say, this place is one of the better ones for staying in Kathmandu Valley. The location is simply unbeatable: clean air, away from madness and horrible pollution, quiet enough yet within easy reach of the sites. Yes, there are stairs to walk - there is no other way of accessing the property, but it's not a problem for any reasonably fit person.
Our impression of the property was very mixed - the staff is really good and they work very hard to make sure the guests are happy (but don't expect high level of professional training, service level is based on enthusiasm of the staff). Ramita is a true gem tirelessly trying to accommodate the variety of wishes. Communal dining is a nice touch as you get to meet and mix with other travellers. They use own produce for meals and the chef is very capable and can cater to variety of needs - which is not easy in Nepal. The property is well maintained and rooms are big and comfortable with almost everything one can wish for provided. Hot water is available all the time. Grounds are nice and the view is unbeatable! They don't use plastic bottles, which is a relief.
Services on offer seem to be very much hit-and-miss and quite overpriced for the offering. For anything "guided" we would expect reasonable level of knowledge and passion from the guide (our guide for historical sites was very good, the guided hiking was much less so - for over 110USD total for 3 persons for 5 hours we would expect a knowledgeable person and a much better and more interesting experience.
Food is organic with produce from own garden, but has not much soul or taste. I guess, while trying to accommodate different western tastes it was so watered down, that nothing much of a substance or originality was left. It's neither true Nepali nor European. (we did enjoy momos though!) It's also very pricy by Nepali standards (I would say 40%-50% more then good quality restaurants in Kathmandu).
Decor is nice, but doesn't have the more sophisticated touch of higher end properties and cleanness can be definitely improved.
Please note, anything you order from the property will come with 23% tax on top and card payments attract 3.5% charge.
Overall, It has a very good potential, but at the current level of pricing there is a substantial gap between what is charged and what is offered. Currently, it is not value for money. We don't mind paying but the level of pricing should correspond to the level of offering, it doesn't at the moment, unfortunately. We travel a lot and can compare.

My deluxe room in the poinsettia cottage was lovely. I enjoyed the balcony and green-space with the Mountain View. Romita, the hotel manager truly made my stay memorable. She was so kind hearted and detail oriented.
Be prepared for a walk up to the cottage. It is manageable if you’re in good shape and don’t mind walking from the road. You also have to walk to get to the main building for meals.
The spa needs to be updated as I was cold during the massage and the gas heater gave me a headache. The actual massage is okay, not the best and doesn’t seem like real Ayurveda oil- she said it came from “Thailand” and couldn’t give any more explanation. The lady wasn’t too professional either. Hopefully they hire another masseuse to keep up with the caliber of the place.

Amazing property with incredible views. All the staff were very welcoming and we meet some lovely people at Shivapuri heights.
We also had all meals here, a good mixture of Nepalese and western food.
Nothing!! Just be aware that there are steep steps up to the resort.
