We loved everything. But the onsen was probably the best part.
There was nothing we didn't like.

Room size meet my requirements and with own toilet in the room. Staff is helpful and provide good services.
Food for dinner is so so with quite an expensive charge. Inside the room, only one mirror in toilet, Not convenient for lady. Shower for open onsen users will be better.
4.7
Wonderful service and magical to see the winter lights light up on the river after sunset- even the rainy weather didn't ruin the trip- convenient location, we loved walking around, they took care of the car and even helped us arrange the transfer to our next onsen. Spoke Japanese to us slowly so we could understand and were overall incredibly kind and friendly, which made our stay memorable!

I loved everything about this place (the location, staff, the history of the place). I have travelled all over Japan and this is one of my favourite places where I have stayed. There were no large crowds of tourists, so I was able to stroll through the small town and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

This is a wonderful old ryokan, full of atmosphere and right beside the river within a minute's walk of the centre of Kurokawa Onsen. The staff are at all times 100% attentive, the meals are incredible and the outdoor onsen is simply fantastic. We booked the last room available, which was quite small for both of us, but really everything was impeccable and overall our stay was an incredible experience.

Very good location and excellent service

Above and beyond service level. Really comfortable Japanese style stay. I’d definitely return.

The hot springs are one of the best in the village. The dinner was very delicious and fresh. The room was warm and very clean. We also stayed at another Ryokan in the same village. We like here much better than the other.
The heater smells gas at night. But, I believe this was an additional heating unit due to extremely cold temperatures when we stayed.

The staffs re so nice, with good English explanation. You could expect what a best ryokan has, and they have everything; service, good food etc.
Try their local made plum and lemon juice...soooo nice.
The onsens are exchanged between daytime and nighttime with gender seperation, so u can use every onsens they have. The water s really really good.
The price in Dec 2022 was so sky-high.
The rotemburo places are not the best in town. (But it s really good enough). Although, it s next to river but u cant enjoy the most view of it. But u can hear the river sound while enjoying.
The onsens were closed at 11 pm. But some other place offers 24 hrs. with river view.

We had an excellent stay at this historic hotel. The building, the baths, and the food were all excellent. Dinner was full of local delicacies. The service was helpful.
4.7
The room and place were very clean and comfortable for a 300 years old building, very nice.
They can improve on the shampoo and conditioner.
4.7
Very attentive service and warm hospitality. Delicious meals which reflect the local specialty. We enjoyed the onsen which is rustic and traditional. The parking space was small but staff helped us with the parking and luggage.
The stay was too short! We would love to come again.
4.7
A charming old ryokan with an excellent service (both in English and Japanese).

Exceptional service! 100% recommended.

Staffs are really nice. Food is great and the yuukata came with an outer layer which shields the cold (it was about 5 degrees C)
4.7
Staff are so friendly! One of us couldn't eat seafood so they replaced seafood with non-seafood for both meals (dinner and breakfast). They also help you park your car.
The town itself is also very pretty.
I wish they had told us that there's light decoration in the town at night because it is supposed to be very pretty but we didn't see it because we did not know.
4.7
Many baths. 3 outdoor, 2 indoor and 2 indoor private.
4.7
The staff is very professional, there is a reach variety of hot baths, my room was also very specious and comfortable.
As a foreigner I recommend to order traditional Japanese dish, it is served in a traditional Japanese manner, great experience.

The staff are very friendly. They upgraded our room because we were three people and there were vacant rooms that night. The room was very cozy and the hot springs were great.
