Last minute booking, fantastic experience

Last minute booking in Paignton, literally day before, so didn't expect too much, but how wrong was I !!! what a lovely finding !! checking in was from 14 :30, but we have arrived earlier to explore the town. We have left car in front of the hotel and walk into the harbour, took us around 10 minutes only. checked in around 2pm and been told there's actually car park at the back of the property, which I wasn't aware due to last minute booking : ) Room was very good size, spacious with beautiful view. 4 poster bed was not only looking stunning but also very comfy, we have had great night sleep. Toiletries were available in en-suite private bathroom along with plenty of towels. Complimentary tea, coffee, milk and even sparkling water which was nice gesture. There's back garden with barbeque for the quests and licence bar in the lounge. Breakfast was served in the morning and it was lovely, everything cooked perfectly and you have plenty to choose from. Owner was very lovely and helpful and has to mention how quiet this place is as well. We haven't heard any of the other guests and place was fully booked as we've seen on the breakfast next day. Usually you can hear someone walking down the stairs or watching tv next doors or talking loudly, we didn't hear any of this here, like walls are soundproof or something. Great value for the price.

Very welcoming and friendly - ideal.

Breakfast was great - really good full English. Location was a good 10-15minute walk from the Centre of town, which was perfectly ok - good exercise!

Friendly family run hotel. Exceptional breakfast

traditional Georgian property which means it has character but has also been updated. Spacious room.

The only thing I’d say is whilst it’s very close to Paignton it is on a hill. But still easy walking distance to the town and sea front

The Best BnB in Paington!

Excellent stay as always... Dawn and Steve are lovely welcoming hosts, nothing is ever too much trouble. Breakfast's are the BEST!! Great way to start your days before exploring. Lovely clean/comfortable accomodation. A Short walk to the sea front, all public transport within walking distance.

Very nice indeed

Breakfast was lovely but the house up the hill ,so if you walk down to the beach coming back you did feel on your legs😖😖 but it was a nice place.

Excellent breakfast, lovely hosts and very clean. View from the room on the sea is stunning. Very nice room.

Toilet seat was broken. Room was on the 3rd floor so a bit tiring to get up. Parking in the back has only limited spaces. Hotel is located on top of a hill, can be exhausting on foot….

Very good bed and breakfast guest house.

Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice. The breakfast kept us going for most of the day. Steve and Dawn were excellent hosts, very friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable, spotlessly clean and all the things we needed were provided for us.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and went home very relaxed if not having gained a few pounds.

Steve and Dawn were very welcoming and wonderful host. Breakfast was amazing, can highly recommend the Fresh Fruit Salad and the Full English. Located on a hill but not a problem as walked this road many times before.

There was nothing we did not enjoy during our visit.

We greatly enjoyed our stay, want to come back and have recommended Birchwood House to our friends.

Brilliant breakfasts, location (quiet and close to the beach), excellent hosts and homely atmosphere.

It would have been nice to be able to picnic in the garden. There were a couple of tables at the back of the car park but during our stay they were always occupied by men drinking beer.

Superb

Fabulous hosts made us feel very welcome! Beautiful and airy,fresh clean room with nice views to the sea in the distance! Breakfast was really well organised and freshly cooked with a great choice of cereals and fresh fruit! Lovely family run hotel and nothing was too much trouble!

Steep walk back at night when returning after dinner! It’s manageable but made us puff a bit! Not recommended for people who have disabilities but there are plenty of taxis so don’t let the walk out you off!

The property was a short walk to the town centre and bus and train stations and spotlessly clean Steve and Dawn were very friendly and welcoming. Plenty of choice at breakfast which was excellent. Would definitely recommend.

Location great (maybe not for elderly without a car) but we loved it. Breakfast excellent and good quality items, bacon-eggs etc. Hosts perfect :)). VERY clean.

Very friendly hosts and very helpful.

My only problem was that it was on a hill and I am disabled, everything else was first class. Nevertheless, the taxis were so reliable and cheap that we used them rather than find a car park space.
