Amazing setting. Strolling the fog-shrouded streets at night when the village is empty was magical.
Plenty of room for two couples to sit and enjoy the bottle of wine left as a welcoming gift.
The host was kind enough to mail back a raincoat that was accidentally left behind.
I think there was only one other house in the entire village that was occupied the night we stayed, and unfortunately they were right next to us and had a dog outside barking at the stray cats all night.
We weren't able to get the house heated to a comfortable temperature. There were a few portable heaters in the bedrooms so they were comfortable, but the lower levels were cold enough that we had to keep our coats on. The electric fireplace gives off no heat, and there wasn't any kindling to get a fire started in the wood stove downstairs.

The renovation of the casa was exceptional. Very modern touches while keeping the historic details. The mattress was the most comfortable yet in all of our Portugal stays. Great communication. Overall a very special stay. The host left a bottle of wine and there were a lot of spices, cooking supplies, coffee pods, etc. We appreciated the casa allowing dogs to stay. We will definitely come back again at some point the future. Overall, highly recommended.
Be aware that the historic charm of the home comes with very low beams throughout so you really need to pay attention to your surroundings when walking around. There are three levels with steep steps which we didn’t feel comfortable letting our dog use on her own. The umbrella by the pool lounge chair is broken. There is renovation taking place at a casa next door so the construction noise was loud and the workers were essentially in the backyard in direct view of the pool area.

Perfect stay at a once in a lifetime location even during off-season. The house was fully furnished and equipped (bedroom, bathroom, patio), fully stacked kitchen with all kitchen supplies (coffee, dishes, oil, salt, spices etc.) even for cooking lovely dinner for our friend group.
The premise has excellent view of the valley.
Perfect for a day hike and explore the village in the evening.
Would love to return in the future!
For us 4 everything was perfect. Couldn't have asked for anything more :)
But as the house is in three levels accessable via stairs, i assume families with small children or people with mobility issues might find getting around the house rather challenging.

absolutely gorgeous views. very secluded.

The house was so sweet - a beautifully restored stone house with a cute little outside table area and terrace to sit and look at the view from. We arrived at night in the dark and spent the evening looking at the stars. In the morning we opened our bedroom shutters to a gorgeous view across the wooded hills to the valley below, blanketed by low clouds. The house is right on the edge of the village giving it a prime view. It was so peaceful and from here we spent the afternoon exploring the winding streets, and hiking to another village and castle. We saw wild boar and deer! Just what we needed. It was amazing to walk trails (all beautiful) with such history. The Schist villages are just beautiful.
The only thing that wasn't great (but honestly we didn't find that much and it was quite funny), was that the toilet door faces the stairs and is like a saloon door - so there's a gap between the door and you can see whoever is on the toilet as you walk up the stairs! But this was a quirk more than a problem.

Nice ancient village. The house is well equipped.
It is, however, far away from everywhere. A typical location for hikers. many liking tracks available. Although there are beautiful MTB tracks nearby, it is hard to find a location for rent ( I didn’t succeed) .
The pool is very, very small. There were constructors working on the roof opposite our house. Not very pleasant if you want to sunbath in your bikini.

The house and the village of Talasnal are pretty amazing. My partner said she didn't think places like Talasnal really existed any more. It's a comfy, well-equipped little cottage and the terrace is wonderful. Just because it's not stated on the listing, the pool isn't heated but it's very energising! Communication was excellent and very helpful when we had a slight panic about locking ourselves out (issue was sorted very quickly!).
We wish we'd stayed longer!

Nothing I didn't like!

Very tastefully decorated, and beautifully restored. The Host was very helpful and we appreciated the bottle of wine on the house.
There wasn’t anything that we didn’t like, however, I would recommend that during the summer months lighter bedding is supplied or that there is some form of cooling system in the bedroom.
There were no restaurants available for dinner after 18:30, without traveling back into a neigbouring village. After a long day this was not good news. I would suggest that future guests check this out prior to arrival or ensure they are well prepared to self-cater. The kitchen facilities are adequate to prepared dinner.

Excellent location in a very old village (recovered) up in the mountain. The house has an amazing design with a perfect mountain view. Very well furnished with all kitchenware and ready to prepare your own meals. Food options in the village are excellent.
Not much privacy between available two rooms. Stairs a bit steep if you are planning to travel with elder people.
