Lovely older style hotel with incredibly attentive staff. The room had the most stunning views over the national park and you could see elephants at twilight. The pool was perfect and we often had it to ourselves.
The breakfast was a bit ordinary for those of us with more western style tastes. We also found that we were best placed to eat the Sri Lankan options on the menu as they were delicious compared to the other food. The hotel is away from the main town so you are a little bit trapped in terms of food options if you don't have any transport.

Everything was fine. Very helpful, friendly staff.

The staff, rooms and pool were all lovely.
The food was adequate and the options for my daughter who is Coeliac were very limited.

it was such an amazing experience to stay there. Every single staff were so welcoming and lovely. They’ve been so kind to us while we stayed there and looked after us really well. They certainly want above and beyond! Our room was very clean and the bed was so comfortable. We had a room with a lake view and it was spectacular as we saw a few elephants from there. The food was so delicious. The swimming pool was so clean. The most cleanest pool ever! We will definitely come back again soon! Already looking forward to come back later this year (hopefully). Thank you to all of those amazing staff for making sure we were looked after and giving us the best service.

Entrance and lobby. Painless check in. Room was comfortable and well equipped. The staff were very pleasant
Hard to say anything except breakfast buffet had to be constantly refilled. A little more bottled water in the room would have been appreciated after our safari

Nice view.
First of all, you book this spot for the Spa and massage facilities, which are not open, and you only find out when you reach. so the big price difference for "facilities" Vs other hotels in the area is pointless. The staff have no clue on how to run a hotel. The beds were not comfortable at all. Overall a very big disappointment.

The hotel for one night to visit the safari.
Quite all hotel, not moden

Very close to Udawalawe National Park. Staff arranged flexible tours. Practical stay for a night. Room service menu was good. Good sized pool. spacious rooms with nice views from balcony.
It was practical, not the best stay we’ve had but served the purpose. good for a one night or short stay.

Food ordering a little chaotic

The staff are lovely. And really do try their best.
This can definitely not be classed as a 5star, not even a 4star tbh. It is SEVERELY dated. The pictures definitely upsell it, the room itself, although a great size, and thankfully with a lovely view of the lake, is OLD. The pool was unkept, and not inviting in the slightest. The absolute worst part of this stay is the questionable buffets served for breakfast and dinner. It felt unclean, and I honestly questioned the hygiene. The options served were often cold and looked old even. Steer clear if you can. We originally booked for 2 nights and changed it to 1, leaving early as possible the next day.

Meal times a little chaotic in terms of ordering and receiving food

A very nice hotel. It is a resort which has a dozens years of history but it is maintained at highest quality. We have got a free upgrade to VIP room at the top floor. This room had a awesome view at the natural reserve lake and wild living elephants. The hotel staff anywhere and anytime was super professional and friendly,

A nice location, on the edge of a big field
Had a pool... not a bad one.
Thr hotel was empty....therefore, no cofeeshop, no shop no restaurants.... just some room service, which came cold....

Great hotel to stay in before or after going on safari. Clean and big rooms, good buffet in the evening.

This was without doubt the worst hotel we’ve stayed in during our time in Sri Lanka. From the start it disappointed in every way. The obligatory welcome drink was Sunkist, the Porter refused to leave the room until he’d been tipped, the hotel was deserted and lacked any atmosphere and the evening meal was utterly disgusting. My husband and daughter had chicken dishes and there was no meat on the pieces they served.
The only things that were passable during our stay were the breakfast and the pool.
See above.

Spacious rooms that were very clean and good AC. Good location for the safari and staff were very friendly.
For a hotel based near a national park, which is the main attraction in the town, we were surprised that we weren’t asked about arranging a safari on arrival. We arranged this separately through TripAdvisor. But later found out that the hotel do offer this service.

Wonderful spot from which to explore Udawalawe Park. The hotel is quite large with a couple of restaurants and a lovely pool, and all of the staff were warm and welcoming. They went above and beyond on my daughter's birthday by baking a small cake especially for her and decorating her bed with flowers. As a family of four, we had a two-bedroom apartment with several balconies, a living area, and a lovely, clean, modern bathroom. We saw hornbills and a mongoose in the tree off our balcony. The hotel was very near the entry of the park, and the safari prices quoted by the hotel were competitive with other local companies.

Our room was big with a most outstanding view from the balcony. We had one of the best hours of our 6 week holiday watching 5 elephants take water.
I also enjoyed witnessing the weddings.
And the small pool was warm and inviting.
The dining room lacked atmosphere. I’m not fond of buffets but this one offered freshly prepared bbq food which helped.

Immacualte throughout the entire hotel, the pictures on booking.com don't do it justice.
Traditional Sti Lankan hospitality meant we felt comfortable and cared for from the start.
The staff organised a safari tour for us, which was the highlight of our whole trip.
The restaurant didn't serve traditional Sri Lankan food on the main menu at dinner, just a mix of western dishes. They said they could make us some traditional curries, but this didn't seem great as these curries usually take hours to prepare, rather than minutes.

Very clean, family room spacious (two bedrooms and a small “living room with kitchenette, though only one bathroom), very friendly and helpful staff, decent sized pool, great views!
Very convenient location for safari (jeep arranged by hotel was good, the driver seemed quite knowledgeable, so we really saw a lot of animals) Baby elephant feeding is also just a short drive away

- The swimming pool is great and the view is wonderful
- The general manager tries his best to improve our stay. Thank you Sir
- There were no baby cot for >12 months child, which is dangerous
- Some guests used the pool with very loud music, and the pool staff told us "it's not the hotel music" when we asked to turn the volume down
- The food is full of oil and not tasty, far below expectations
- There are only a few guests (maybe 5 out of 50 rooms) -> no buffet
- There was a party upstairs during our first night, it didn't bother the staff to let us have a room just below, with a 2yo child. Fortunately, they changed our room when we complained at 21:30
- We can hear the crowing of cocks in early morning in some rooms (not our room)
- The WIFI is not working well, which is annoying for business calls
To sum up, except the pool which is great, the Centauria is more a 3* hotel

Front desk staff was good and helpful. Property was clean.
Behaviour of restaurant staff in evening shift was really bad. Room service was bad as well.
8.0
Best swimming pool in Sri Lanka (clean, good temperature and size)
The family room is better than on the pictures; it has 2 sizeable rooms in a room (great for families!)
Great views into the national park
Wifi was slow and re-quire re-entering codes every day on every device
Airco's were working but no sleep mode was not working (full fan power during the nights)
