It worked really well for the children and adults. Kids really had a great time in the pool. Very well provisioned kitchen. Lots of games. Multiple TVs. Significant temperature differential between upstairs (main level) and lower level. When upper level was comfortable temperature the lower level was a little chilly. Good access to the lake (small cove off main body). Dock worked well for our rented pontoon boat and small fishing boat. Enjoyed using the kayaks and paddle boards.

Our family of 5 had a wonderful time here. The house was very accommodating and had everything we needed for a week. We spent most of the week boating/tubing which the kids loved. The owners were easy to communicate with and responded quickly when we were communicating. It’s a great house for families with kids of any age and would definitely come back again.

We stayed here for a week with a group of six families with five kids (1-6 years old). The house was super comfortable and spacious. We loved the puzzles, board games, kids books, pool toys, kayaks and stand up paddle boards! The kitchen was super well stocked with a mixer and baking equipment. We made s'mores every evening and had a great view of the meteor shower. It was a bonus that the house is conveniently located about 15 minutes from the nearest grocery store. Can't recommend it enough, we had a fantastic stay!

This house has everything and felt like a real home! It was well equipped with all the little things most rentals are missing like tissue boxes and hand soap by all the sinks. We cooked most meals and the kitchen had all the tools and appliances. The kids loved the games, the pool, and the kayaks. The beach next to the dam was only a few minutes away, so the kids could still build sand castles and swim. The property shoreline is too weedy for swimming. Every morning a flock of canadian geese would rest on the lawn. The owners were so communicative and left us a welcome basket. I would say the only minor negative is the internet is slow if you're used to city high speed, but it's good to unplug on vacation.

Comfortable home to stay at. The pool was great. Lots of games and toys for the family to use inside and out. Appreciated the 2nd frig. Loved having our dogs there.
The only location drawback was the property is in a cove which meant there was not deep water to swim around the dock area. Not the homes fault though. But we did enjoy having lake access for our rental boat.
Communication has been great through the entire process.
Great Experience, thanks

Family Reunion Fun
Rene's Retreat was immaculate, spacious and perfect for our family get together. There was a welcome basket with coffee and s'more fixings to greet us. We all enjoyed the pool, the proximity to the lake, the kayaks and the quiet location. There was plenty of room for us to spread out, lots of games, books and dvds and the kitchen was well stocked. The owners were quick to respond. We were blessed with beautiful weather.

Wonderful vacation home for large family
We so enjoyed our stay at Rene’s Retreat. The teens, young adults and adults LOVED the “toy/play” room. The Shuffle board was a HUGE hit. The kitchen was very well supplied. We rented a pontoon boat for a day. The pool was a Godsend on the hot days. There were 15 of us and we had plenty of room. Krys was so easy and a pleasure to work with. Thank you !

Amazing
This trip was a Christmas gift to my children, their spouses and my grandchildren and it could not have been more perfect. We weren’t all able to be there for the full week but my sons-in-law thanked me profusely for the excellent choice. We did tour a couple of spots - like the whiskey distillery, aqueduct, river trail, we really didn’t need to leave the site, there was so much to do.
I hope to book again.

Whole Family Vacation
Three generations of family love’s staying at this property at one time, this was our third year and have already scheduled next year. The property easily accommodates the whole family. The children love the pool when the family is not on the lake. The boat house easily accommodates our speed boat and wave runner. The owner is very gracious, always has a nice welcome package of goodies, and is always on call if needed. Again we love our stays.

The location, size of house, amenities were all excellent. Only complaint was that the oven and toaster oven were filthy. Some of the pans were pretty nasty. Other than that we had a wonderful time

Great Family Vacation Spot
Our group of 11 enjoyed everything about our stay at Rene’s Retreat. I’ve never stayed anywhere with such a well-equipped kitchen, variety of games, books — the ping pong table, fooseball, outdoor Jenga, swimming pool - all added to the fun! Spring for the linens they provide for the extra cost - they are definitely high-end and worth it. We fished off the dock, made s’mores and enjoyed the fire pit at days end. We rented a pontoon boat for the week and spent lots of time on the beautiful Lake Gaston. My ocean-loving family may have been converted to a lake-loving group. Rent at Rene’s Retreat - you won’t be disappointed.

Amazing property
Really beautiful and well kept property. Four bedrooms on the bottom floor which allowed our older kids to have their own space and the adults had the three bedrooms on the main floor. We used the pool on a daily basis, built a fire a couple of nights, ping pong battles and there was plenty of fishing from the dock. We rented a pontoon boat for a couple of days so we really enjoyed the lake. So much to do here. The owners even allowed us to bring our two dogs and our older lab loved jumping and swimming from the dock. So many wonderful memories.

Perfect for a large family (8 children/8adults)
This was our second year staying at this beautiful house on the lake. The whole family enjoyed it so much that I have already scheduled it for next year. The house meets all our expectations, the children totally enjoyed the pool, and the boathouse easily kept our ski boat and wave rider safe and within reach. Can’t say enough about the owners, they were very accommodating and always available if needed.

My family and I stayed here for a week in August and it was a wonderful escape from everything that's going on. We enjoyed lounging by the pool and paddle boarding in the lake, as well as eating family meals and watching the sun set over the lake. Can't wait to come back!

Perfect Spot for These Times!
During this unusual time we all needed to get away to a relaxed setting where we could just relax and be together as a family. At the same time some of us needed to continue to work remotely. This home accomplished those objectives! Lovely setting right on the lake. Kayaks and paddle boards available and the pool was in constant use. Home is well supplied with everything you need for meal preparation, tons of games and activities for kids of all ages. We brought food in for the entire week and there was plenty of storage space plus two refrigerators. Pictures give an accurate view of what you’re getting—no surprises! Plenty of space for everyone and all in all a great vacation.

Perfect retreat!
My family of 12 spent the week at Rene’s retreat in Littleton, NC on Lake Gaston. The house fit our family perfectly..lots of bathrooms, bedrooms and water toys! The pool was clean and the perfect size and was very refreshing after a day on the lake. We spent the time fishing, boating, tubing, swimming, kayaking and paddleboarding!!! I would definitely recommend this house to anyone heading to the lake. It was super clean and had a wonderful view of the lake!! Hope to come back next summer!

Lake Gaston Getaway
Our family of 14 enjoyed our getaway to Lake Gaston immensely! This home is located in a quiet neighborhood at the end of the street and the lake front view is sooo picturesque. This house had everything - and there was so much to do. Paddleboards, kayaks and life jackets - we were out on the water everyday. We also took advantage of the dock and rented a pontoon boat to fish and take sunset cruises. When not on the lake we were at the pool or inside playing games. Kitchen had all the dishes and utensils we could possibly need and with 14 of us 2 refrigerators came in handy; also grilled on the deck. Extensive collection of dvd’s if looking to chill with a movie. The house was very clean and yard was well maintained.
The central A/C will cool you off when it heats up outside - if you like it really cold when you sleep, recommend the lower level bedrooms ;)

Spectacular Spot
All 13 of us really enjoyed our stay at this home. Krys and her husband were excellent hosts and their home was not lacking for anything. Plenty of space, large kitchen and one thing that is notable, that not many rentals have, is pantry/cupboard space for your own items. 2 full cabinets from floor to ceiling. Great location and definitely would recommend this home, but renter beware that the downstairs is freezing cold no matter what you do. Bring some warm clothes for that.
