This park-like setting includes mature walnut trees, a circular drive and access just minutes away to Lake Michigan, Big Glen Lake, Sleeping Bear Dunes and the quaint town of Glen Arbor.
In addition to the three private bedrooms (sleeps 6-8) and two full bathrooms, there is a dining room, living room, and kitchen. The large master bedroom on the first floor also has a day bed and a walk-in closet. Furnished with antiques and “Up North” Cottage character, this home is a comfortable retreat from the fun in the sun of the beaches of Lake Michigan.
Hike the dunes, have a sunset fire on the beach, kayak Crystal River, boat/ski on Big and Little Glen Lake, or just wander the town of Glen Arbor and enjoy the art galleries, restaurants, live music and the friendly people who call this corner of the world home.
Located on S. Dunn's Farm Road at the base of Miller Hill Rd, this historic home once had established orchards of apples, cherries and pears which were shipped to the Chicago market from Glen Haven. Pick up a copy of the book “Historic Cottages of Glen Arbor” by Barbara Siepker at the Cottage Book Shop on Lake Street and learn more about the history of this house. This place has amazing character. It was so nice for our family of five, we had plenty of space and for an older home it has great updates including two full bathrooms and a half bath upstairs. The house had everything you could possibly want and Katie the property manager was incredibly responsive. Will stay again.

This is our third stay at this great old farmhouse near Glen Arbor; it is charming, comfortable and well equipped for a serene, relaxing and authentic Up North visit. Recent addition of a 1/2 bath upstairs is a delightful update; the front porch remains one of the great porches in the Midwest. Note well, this is not a fancy house; it is homey and comfy. Wonderful experience, wonderful management of the rental and altogether exactly as it appears.

The property was a very nice historical home. We loved the front porch and the house had everything we needed. The fire pit was wonderful for s’mores! The location was nice and close to downtown Glen Arbor. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and Katie was wonderful and full of great information about the area when we met her upon our arrival.

A charming summer cottage with lots of rooms, and well stocked with the necessities. Katie, our host, was incredibly helpful and went out of her way to make our stay wonderful!

The Glenncrest cottage was just what we needed. We had two families with adult kids staying. One family was upstairs and the other downstairs. Plenty of room in the bedrooms with more than enough closet and drawer space. It was only a minor inconvenience for those upstairs that both bathrooms are downstairs. We enjoyed cool nights so one of my adult sons stayed on the day bed in the porch and he said it was just fine. The house has a great air conditioning unit that provided great comfortable air when it is hot outside. The kitchen has all the basic necessities with plenty of plates, bowls, and wine glasses! We enjoyed a dinner at the house by using the grill and the outside picnic area - very nice! The house is old and charming with a number of off-level floors but the place is nicely furnished and very clean. Katie was very helpful upon check-in and was available for any questions. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the house.

This is our second time renting this wonderful place and we hope to rent again - it is comfortable, highly functional, and well appointed; it is in a terrific location near Glen Arbor and the hiking and biking trails of Sleeping Bear. House is clean, well - stocked, well- maintained. the front room farmhouse porch is perhaps our favorite place. Can't think of a thing we'd want differently, other than recycling instructions. Thanks to Katie and her property management team for making us feel so welcome. I'd recommend unreservedly.

Loved It
We loved this house. The property felt very private with trees surrounding. The house had plenty of space for the family to spread out with some people napping, some playing games, some eating, without ever getting in each other’s way. We also loved the outdoor spaces with the fire pit and table.
The location was excellent too. Super short drive to town, beaches, and trailheads.
We’ll try to come back for sure.

Wonderful Historical Cottage
We had a wonderful stay at the Glencrest Cottage. It is a showcase cottage that has a Glen Lake legacy stretching back to the 1800’s. The owners have provided visitors with little touches that made us feel at home. Recent updates include central air conditioning which makes sleeping at Glen Crest a dream. We loved our stay.

Charming house, easy comfort
We loved our stay. The cottage is historic and beautifully updated. It is an old house, but that is part of its charm. Our group ranged in age from 6-60 and we all found spaces to spend time enjoyably together and also be apart to do our own things. The house was well stocked with everything we needed from kitchen supplies, to puzzles, to bikes, to beach toys. We were pleasantly surprised by all this home away from home had to offer. My ONLY complaint is I wish the upstairs mattress was more firm, but that is my own preference. We would stay here again.

Charming house at Glen Lake, Michigan
Initial rental was easy & quick. COVID caused a 1 year delay from our end but manager & owners were helpful with moving us to next year. House has a variety of sleeping arrangements that well suited the 8 of us despite our varying ages. It is very well equipped for cooking & comfortable living. The house is old, part of the charm for us, but well kept and furnished and has a large lot great for kids & games. The manager greeted us and was pleasant & helpful. Overall, a great Glen Lake vacation accommodation.

Great weekend Getaway
Great spot to spend the weekend. Perfect house for couples with plenty of bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. House was clean and inviting. We had fun socializing and playing cards on the enclosed porch while enjoying the the fall color change as well as enjoyed the fire pit outside in the crisp fall weather.

Perfect Up North Cabin
I love the Glen Arbor area and this cottage in particular. It is so unique and comfortable. I have rented this cottage 2 years in a row and plan to do so again. It is close to town, the Glen Haven beach, North Bar Lake, and M22. They had all the sports equipment you need, comfortable beds and plenty of room for everyone to stretch out and relax on the porch. Can't wait to go back!

Charming farmhouse in a great location!
We loved the charm and character of this home! The location was great. We’ve been coming up for years and it is close to our favorite spots like Glen Arbor and sleeping bear dunes. Our favorite restaurant, Funistrada is just down the road too. Thank you to Katie for the welcome and hospitality!!

This is a lovely house, as described - it is not modern, it is charming, rustic, pleasant and comfortable. We found it a great place to spend a week - wonderful location, convenient to Sleeping Bear, Glen Arbor and points North on the Leelanau. Only thing we wished for was a big outdoor table - picnic or similar, so that we could dine outside. Communication with the property manager was great - she was wonderful and thoughtful. Would return.

This home was great for the characteristics we sought out that are obvious in the listing: historic charm, lots of space, relative seclusion, but easy access to Glen Arbor, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and beaches. The porch is delightful early in the morning. All necessities are there. Katie, the manager, is incredibly friendly and responsive. This house could be fantastic if the owners took a less incremental approach to improvements like DIY painting and bathroom tile work or the mishmash approach to all the furnishings and decor (like rugs that aren't washable and slide on the floors). As other reviews have noted, summer heat makes the house uncomfortably warm in the afternoon and makes the porch completely unusable. If the house relies on window units and fans to be tolerably cool, the owners should invest in units that are less noisy and more integrated. While the week to week cleaning is fine, old houses need a deep clean more frequently than this one receives. With a 150 year old home we expected much of this and we still had a wonderful visit to Leelanau County, but we spent too much time on house cleaning and temperature maintenance for an ideal vacation.

Beautiful cottage
Great location...close to many attractions in the area. The cottage was very comfortable and had plenty of space inside and out for our group. The owners have thought of everything. We had a fantastic time and would definitely stay again.

early 1900's charmer
if you love the charm of an old home, this is the place for you. First of all the home is spotless. very clean and welcoming. All towels and linens were included, loved having the washer/dryer/dishwasher and all the conviences of home. along with being such an old home comes some challenges...uneven floors in most room with creaks to match. the stairway is narrow and very steep, the porches are gorgeous, but hard to use during the heat of the day. the porches were great for working on puzzles, playing games and reading. the only problem with the porches is that the sun beats down on them all day, so they are extremely hot in the afternoon. also at night the screen are not tight to the windows, so it does get buggy in there. If the owner would put up some shades and better screens it would be incredible. the first part of the week we were there was extremely hot. the owner does have 3 window units in the home and plenty of fans. But unfortunately the window units were so loud it was hard to sleep. Also, we love to be outside, and even though there was a fire pit, there was no outside seating and the grounds really needed some work. The home was fun, just counting the number of doorways and finding a secret passage from the bathroom to the laundry room was fun. It was very roomy, but located right on the highway, so there was quite a bit of traffic noise. we normally stay in Empire, first time staying in Glen Arbor which is much busier than Empire. We saw lots of wildlife around the home. Deer, turkeys, chipmunks, birds. All in all, we enjoyed our stay, but if a few improvements were done it would be perfect.

Wonderful Cottage
The cottage is spacious and comfortable and perfectly located just across from Glen Lake and minutes to Glenn Arbor and Sleeping Bear Dunes. Our 4 kids really enjoyed the space and all the different places to hang out in the house. Great kitchen if you enjoy cooking. The fire pit is a big plus as well as we spent most evening by the fire. We stayed one week after the big storms ripped through Glen Arbor, the property owners and their property manager where great to work with, very accommodating and kept us well informed of the status of the town as it came back on-line. A trip we will not forgot and we will be back!

Cozy and inviting!!
Loved my stay at the cottage. The space was filled with old charm with mismatch furninshings and decor. Each room leaves you guessing at what the next may look like. From the modern stand up shower to the antique tub, you will be amazed! End each evening at the firepit enjoying wine from your tour and chocolate covered cheeries. What a great way to relax~!

Historic cottage is a mixed bag
My husband, parents, and young son recently stayed at Glencrest Cottage and were surprised at what a mixed bag we found the cottage to be. On the one hand, it is quaint in a shabby-chic way. The beds are covered in patchwork quilts, interesting artwork adorns the walls, and there is a beautiful, large porch in the front of the house that is perfect for large family meals. On the other hand, while some of the rooms are well maintained, others are quite poorly kept. For instance, there are two bathrooms on the first floor. One bathroom is pristine, with a new shower, a cabinet full of fresh, fluffy towels and delicately scented soaps, and tasteful fixtures. The other bathroom is its opposite: the old linoleum floor tiles are coming loose (one was completely unglued when we arrived), the tub is rust-stained, and the lighting is poor. This incongruity is evident throughout the cottage. The first floor bedroom was quite nice and clean, but the two bedrooms on the second floor looked as if they had not been cleaned in some time. The bedside tables in my bedroom were covered with a layer of grime that I scrubbed off with wet wipes, the windows in the bedroom would slam shut if I didn't prop them open with a piece of wood, and there were dead bugs in the corners of the room. All of the appliances, along with the gas grill, are of high quality and well maintained, but the kitchen is small, dark, and crowded with a huge, obsolete stove that basically serves as a microwave oven stand. The porch, as indicated earlier, is lovely, but many of the mechanisms used to shut the porch windows are broken, and as a result, rain comes into the porch during storms. Given how pleasant and professional I found Glencrest Cottage's owner to be as we exchanged emails leading up to my stay, I was surprised at how inconsistently maintained the property was. Finally, the photos posted on-line seem to be quite dated. Although it was not evident from the photos, the paint on the front of the cottage is peeling and most of the rooms are not as fresh and tidy as they appear in the photos. Although the location was great and the price was right, I just could not recommend this property to a friend or relative.

What a great family time at Glencrest Cottage!
We just spent a week at Glencrest Cottage ... and LOVED it!! We celebrated my Dad's 80th birthday with the family and have wonderful memories. Our family rented two cottages, due to the amount of people ... but Glencrest was the gathering place for a campfire every night. We all loved the history of the cottage! It is very well equipped and also enjoyed having a propane grill to cook some fresh fish caught on Lake Michigan. This is such a beautiful area with so many things to do! I use to live in the area ... so love returning whenever I can.

Visit to Glen Lake
My family enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Everything was very clean and we felt very comfortable there. Loved the Leelanau coffee every morning on the porch. The cottage is close to Sleeping Bear Dunes as well as Glen Arbor & Empire. We also drove to Leland and checked out Fish Town. We had a delicious breakfast at Foothills Cafe one morning and we liked the pizza at Peg Town Station in Maple City. Glen Arbor has many shops & art galleries to explore-my kids liked the ice cream from Pine Cone & loved the cherry soda from Cherry Republic.

Great family vacation home!
We all loved the house and our favorite spot at night was around the campfire :) Biking to town was an easy ride in and a workout back home, but there are some great woodsy trails just south of town, leading to DH day beach access.

It is close to everything....the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, Glen Arbor, beaches...etc. We enjoyed the fire pit at night and playing games and cards in the sunroom! The owner and his management company were very accomodating. We cannot wait to come back next summer!
