Great stay

Great location, beautiful views, amazing sunrises good spa facilities and nice breakfast.

Spa opening times are strange, we wanted to use them after busy days exploring the island, but at 18:00 everything is closed.

The location was absolutely unbeatable, offering breathtaking views of the sea The room was recently renovated, which made for a stylish and comfortable stay and the staff was incredibly attentive and friendly throughout my time there. Cleanliness was definitely a priority at this hotel, as the room and common areas were spotless at all time highly recommend this hotel for its fantastic location, cleanliness, renovated rooms, attentive staff, and those awe-inspiring sea views that will make your stay truly memorable.

However, it's essential to mention the only downside I experienced during my stay. My room was situated above the hotel's lively bar and restaurant, where every evening until 11 PM, there was live music playing. While the atmosphere was vibrant and fun, it did get a bit noisy at times, especially when I wanted some quiet moments to wind down.

Too big resort compared to what I expected, but good. They even prepared some take away breakfast, much appreciated. It is a big resort...Holiday agency buses and a lot of people...

Pleasant

Comfortable though smallish room with sea view. Elaborate buffet breakfast. Short walk to a couple of decent restaurants and shop. Good location between Funchal and the airport.

TV in the room didn't work, took long to get fixed and then only had Portuguese and German speaking channels. Overall, the atmosphere is one of industrial mass-tourism; a lot of concrete, a big impersonal breakfast/dining hall. TV being watched in the next door room was loud and clear in mine. Of three similarly-priced hotels I stayed in, this was the least impressive.

It was amazing!

The property is called Hotel Royal Orchids.(branch) it was clean, had many swimming pools, indoor too, they have a gym to access too. the rooms are facing the sea, so you get the wonderful sea view!

a bit far from Funchal, but doesn’t make a difference. To be honest there are no cons here.

Everything! Fantastic room,with amazing view amd kitchenette,big and clean. Very kind and helpful staff, good food- the restaurant in the hotel is the best in Caniço. Spa and swimming pool clean and comfortable.

The staff was extremely friendly, place very clean and definitely would recommend and stay again

Loved the location. A shame we couldn’t access sea until after 10am ish more like 10:30. Breakfast could be better as some fruit was canned and felt this was unnecessary for Madeira

Gorgeous cliffs views, an interesting sea pool, great balcony view. Nice bar/restaurant with a view

My room was not far away from reception so it was a bit noisy when tourists arrived or checked out

Good place to stay close to Funchal, but not "inside town". Great for snorkeling and exploring!

Greast loccation between Funcial and the airport. Good to explore Funcial and the East of the island. Fantastic sea-water pool and access to the ocean, one of the best places on Madeira for snorkeling.

Booked the room with sea view and thus paid a bit more, and the view was good, but we were given a room inside one of the "not recently renovated" part of the Hotel. But still good.

We would definitely like to return some other time.

The location is nice and calm with small local shopping and restaurants nearby, and within short time by bus to Funchal with further opportunities and further transportation possibilities. Access to sea and pool with sea water. Nearly all of the staff are most friendly and helpful.

The evening bartender was a bit arrogant and a waiter was not accommodating on request for lunch to go, although it was seen that others were receiving this.

Had a wonderful time in Roca Mar and absolutely appreciate the room and staff..

Location and access to other hotels/ facilities. It was beautifully positioned on the rocks.

It looks like the hotels could use some style upgrades. Also, the food is not great.
