Brookside Retreat is ideally located on a quiet side street overlooking Tannery Brook, a year-round stream that flows through the center of Woodstock and right past the house!
This historic artist’s bungalow features an extensive bluestone patio (with a built-in outdoor wood-burning fireplace and stone table with benches), a covered deck, and walkways that overlook the stream ~ as well as a spacious landscaped and fenced-in lawn.
Three bedrooms accommodate up to 6 people (see details below). In addition, there's a fully-equipped country kitchen; a dining area (seats 6); and a spacious living room with a cathedral ceiling, ceiling fan, skylights, 2-story north light windows, a gas-fueled fireplace with an exposed stone chimney ~ and a piano!
In addition, there's a separate studio-office building with a desk, lounge area, and wall of sliding glass doors that overlook the patio.

We had such a great stay with my toddler and 2 dogs! The area is extremely dog friendly and walking distance to all the best coffee shops and restaurants ! The fully fenced yard gave us such a peace of mind. The house was clean, fully stocked with anything one might need and the appliances were all updated and worked great! We will definitely be back!!

Cozy home close to everything. The babbling brook soothes the soul. Placement of bedrooms and baths provided both convenience and privacy for each of us. The kitchen provided all utensils and equipment we needed to prepare our Thanksgiving meal. Excellent service from property manager. Highly recommend! Thought we didn't have infants/toddlers with us, we noticed that this property would accommodate them well.

Brookside Retreat was everything we could have wished for in a vacation home. The house is even bigger than the photos show, the property is beautiful, and being right next to a stream surrounded by trees while only a few blocks from stores made it just perfect. The house is wonderfully equipped and the property manager was immediately accessible when a question came up. We definitely plan on coming back.

This cottage in Woodstock was perfect for our group. The master bedroom is spacious, as is the kitchen and living room area, and it the heat worked unbelievably well considering the very cold temperatures over the weekend we were there. The outdoor and indoor fireplaces both added to the experience. The property manager was also extremely communicative, which was helpful leading up to our stay. I highly recommend staying here and will definitely be back!

The best location!
We have stayed in the Woodstock area several times, and this was absolutely one of our favorites. The house has so much character, and is tucked away in beautiful nature, but still very accessible to all of the fun and deliciousness that Woodstock has to offer with just a short walk to shops and restaurants. The property manager was very helpful and responsive. We had our 1 year old with us - it's a great location for young ones too! We would love to come back soon.

Lovely family escape!
We had a lovely stay with our 2 year old! The layout was nice and open and it was more or less kid safe! The fireplace was amazing and the piano was a hit! My husband and I had to work a little bit and the desk in the master was a perfect set up. Location wise it doesn’t get any better being so close to town! Linens were great, kitchen had everything we needed, and the property manager was responsive. We had a wonderful holiday and new year and can’t wait for our next trip back to Woodstock!

Excellent family-friendly house!
My wife, two-year old daughter had a wonderful stay. The location is perfect, about a 5-10 minute walk from the center of town and even closer to a great grocery store, coffee shop & CVS. If you're traveling with kids, the children's bedroom is perfect and the property is fun to explore being right on the creek. It was really cold during our stay so we spent a lot of time inside, which wasn't an issue with the great fireplace, large kitchen table and big, comfortable bedrooms. The check-in and check-out process was incredibly smooth and the property manager & owner were incredibly responsive and kind. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a getaway in Woodstock, especially if you have kids!

Amazing Property!
My family and I had a great stay at Brookside Retreat. It was the perfect fit for us for several reasons - The house was very well stocked and organized. A lot of thought and care was put into having all necessary items provided for included items for babies/children which was appreciated since we have a 2 year old! As someone who is meticulously clean and organized I was so impressed with how clean and organized the place was. You can tell the house is cared for with a lot of love. My husband and I work remote so the detached studio/office space was great. It was also our first time in Woodstock and you really couldn't pick a better location. It's a couple streets off of the "downtown" so just a 5 minute walk to anything and everything you'd want or need but also a bit tucked away so the house itself is quiet without a lot of action going on. Also the property itself it so relaxing being on the river with the soothing water sounds. Such a treat! Highly recommend for families with children or dogs, couples, people working remote, etc. Our stay was such a nice getaway and we hope to return again one day!

Beautiful property very close to town
We throughly enjoyed our time at this house. The location, right on the stream and a very short walk to town, was ideal. The outdoor space was beautiful and very relaxing with the stream babbling by us. The master bedroom is large and welcoming. Upstairs are 2 more bedrooms and a shared bath. All of the bedrooms have wall AC units, which cool those rooms nicely. However the main living area is not air conditioned. We only had 1 very hot day so it wasn’t really a problem for us. Just something to be aware of if you are booking during the summer. The kitchen had everything we needed. And our dog loved it! Very happy to have the fenced yard. Definitely recommend this property.

Wonderful trip to Woodstock!
We loved our trip to Woodstock, and the house and property (not to mention the proximity to town), were fantastic. The creek was right behind the house, where we were lucky enough to see some lovely wildlife (rabbits, baby deer), and our son was enthralled. The house was clean, clearly organized and easy to manage for the week. Highly recommended!

Very relaxing home with cozy feel. Comfy beds, wonderful babbling brook sounds. Works if you want to hike and be outside but also if you get rain and have to stay inside. Lots of books, games and everything you need in walking distance.

Great house, great location
My family had a wonderful stay in this lovely home. It was perfected suited for our needs - simple, clean, warm, and a five minute walk to town. The outdoor space was lovely- the creek running through the backyard was magical and we enjoyed the outdoor fire pit. The property manager was very responsive and attentive to our needs. One night during a big snow storm the power went out (came back on a few hours later), and to compensate us for the inconvenience the owner actually gave us a gift certificate for dinner, which was incredibly thoughtful. Also, we have two kids ages 2 and 1 and the home was surprisingly well equipped for young kids - there was a crib, a changing table, an extra travel crib, and even a box full of toys! Unfortunately the indoor gas fireplace was not working during our visit (this was fully disclosed to us prior to our arrival) so that was a bit of a bummer, but the house was warm & cozy nonetheless. The only complaint/suggestion we have for the owners would be that the home could be better stocked with things like paper towels and bath linens. Overall though, it was a wonderful five star trip and we would definitely consider renting this home in the future.

Perfect Woodstock home
Home was well stocked, clean and comfortable. Property manager was extremely responsive throughout the process. We stayed/worked for 3 weeks and were not lacking a thing. Wifi was strong for multiple concurrent streaming events and work applications. We enjoyed the bonus of 2 fireplaces (indoor + out) as well as frequent visits to shops/restaurants in town. Easy drive to many wonderful day hikes. Hope to return. Fall in Woodstock is magical and this home is the perfect place to experience it.

Could not have been better
We arrived to find an immaculate, fully prepared house. Everything was in good shape; everything worked; and it looked exactly as portrayed on the website. The property manager was very helpful and made sure that all went smoothly. The beds were comfortable and the bedding and towels were of good quality. The property manager contacted us shortly after our trip and assured us that our security deposit was being processed for refund. We did not even have to ask or wait the full 7 days that was indicated in the contract. I have zero reservations about recommending this property.

Great property, clean, walk two blocks and you are downtown Woodstock. One block from yoga, two blocks from wine store, natural food store and restaurants. Honest and prompt communication with Jill. I will say clean again, because it is that important. We are repeat visitors and will continue to be. Five minutes to a great Overlook Mountain hike. Perfect for couple or family.

Perfect for Woodstock
Beautiful house by a steam. Very welcoming fireplace, fully equipped quality kitchen. Our puppy loved the garden. We came for the film festival, left in love with Woodstock and hoping to be back soon!

Woodstock Cottage
This was a perfect house for 2 couples. It allowed privacy with the 2 main bedrooms being on separate floors. The living area was very comfortable with nice sectional sofa to relax on. The kitchen was well appointed although a Keurig would have been nice. The location was perfect...walkable to all the great breakfast spots but also quiet and scenic with the stream running behind the house and a deck to enjoy it. The temperature did get a bit warm in the house and the room air conditioners struggled to cool those spaces (especially upstairs). Luckily the downstairs was cool enough at night using just the ceiling fan because the location of the ac unit was right on top of the one side of the king bed. All in all it was a lovely little place!
