We (family of 4 inc 2 boys aged 10 and 8) loved the location and its exclusive beach. The monkeys and the birds added to its beautiful location. The room that we chose (partial sea view) was ideal for us despite the amount of steps. The staff were wonderful, helpful and friendly.
Overpriced food. The additional costs not advertised pre-booking such as the cost to take a boat to the main island and the extremely overpriced day tours.

Excellent staff. Excellent food. Special thanks to "Jedd" for making our stay extra special 😊 Location is so amazing! We had some issues at check in, but they took care of it right away. We had fun in the pools, karaoke and kayak to the nearby beach for some private snorkeling. Some other reviews mention bad food, and we disagree strongly. We tried a lot of different food and everything was amazing. We usually asked for whatever the chef recommended that day.
The resort is huge, but a big part of it seems abandoned.

Shortage of some food during my stay

Demolish it all and start over again!
We stayed in room 106 and there are rats in the ceiling! To make matters worse is that there are no front desk staff at night and there are no service in the whole island. We tried calling for hours to ask for help with no help given. No one responded to us the whole night and was forced to stay awake with rats running around the room all night. It was a huge safety issue as well if we tried to come down as the room sits 99 steps above ground in the mountain with steep and slippery worn down stairs. It was pouring rain that night and we sat there helpless with no one to help us! The next morning they finally received my message for help and their solution was to send housekeeping to try to trap the rats. What kind of service is that! Gross, disgusting and if you get injured pray that God will help you at that moment because no one else would.

Staffs treated us as kings and queens!
No alcohol served in the resort. You have to go to main land to buy one .

This was an absolutely beautiful resort that exceeded my expectations. It is obvious that the workers work very hard to maintain the beautiful grounds and rooms. This price reflects the amount of work and care that is put into this really special place. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. Even the food and particularly Filipino food was amazing (pancit tasted like my moms). Lagoon tour was great with fun local guides. A relaxing paradise and perfect for our family trip with the perfect local Filipino flair - Would definitely come back.
I didn’t mind the alcohol not being available - we brought our own no problem. and definitely contributes to nice visitors to the island (lots of families, couples, no obnoxious spring breakers). Some of the negative reviews on here and others are a little annoying and overblown. No security issues during my stay - our safe broke a wire and they replaced right away, and they make sure you didn’t leave anything behind when you pack up to leave.

First the kindness and support of the whole staff. Excellent.
Food: excellent
Spots and sights so great
It is the second time we come to Matinloc. The first time in 2019.
This time music at the arrival disappeared. In 2019 It was kind with collier.
Wifi is a nighmare. Inefficient. Should be corrected
Table and seats in carrousel disappeared. It was Nice in 2019 for sunrise
Some recreative activities shall be added. Jet ski, sailboard, some sea activities allowed by El Nido regulations

If you are looking for a place to isolate and chill, this is the perfect place!! There is one restaurant in the resort and every dish we tasted was excellent!! The staff is the highlight of the place. The staff made this experience amazing. I have never experienced such service consciousness.
We really bonded with Jed, Ian and Jonathan, they are amazing and gave us a service we will never forget!
There were some ants in our room, but it's like that in all El Nido. After we told the reception about it, they sprayed our room with anti-ant spray and it helped a lot.

Nice location and not very far from the other islands that are done on an island tour. The beachfront is beautiful well maintained.
We found it extremely expensive for what it was. We stayed at a 5-star resort prior for going to Matinloc for a cheaper price and we were extremely disappointed with the overall experience when we paid more for Matinloc.
