Guests loved the well-appointed home with a beautiful setting by the creek, modern amenities, and fully equipped kitchen. It truly felt like a home away from home.

This beautiful, darling yellow house in Salem is THE best vacation home we have ever rented (and we have traveled all over the world). It is immaculate, very well appointed with everything you need in any situation. The house itself is beautifully designed with comfortable, high end furniture that is cozy and great for hanging out. Even though it is a historic home it offers all the modern amenities that you are looking for. The location and gardens, next to the creek, are tranquil and serene offering comfy furniture to sit in the sun, listen to the creek and enjoy a BBQ. The host is amazing and gets everything ready for your arrival. Our only regret is that our trip was so short. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!

Great home and great host! The home was immaculate with everything we needed plus more including an espresso maker. The area was quiet and very close to downtown. We loved the backyard next to the steam an a beautiful garden. The beds were very comfortable as well.

Our family came to the area for our son’s college graduation. The historic house was so charming, clean and had everything you need for a very comfortable stay. The location was so pretty and we loved sitting in the backyard beside the creek. All the beds were so comfortable, even the pullout couch! Lots of blankets, pillows, towels! Jay, the property manager, was so friendly and a pleasure to work with! Sad to leave.

This house and its location were perfect! Sitting on the patio with coffee in the morning listening to the creek was a perfect wat to start the day! Home is well stocked and we found everything we needed!

Perfect space for our family with two couples and two teens. Park nearby has a little basketball court for kids to stay entertained (swings and play equipment for the littles). Patio near the creek was perfect for morning coffee as was the second story deck. Loved the yard for our dogs to relax. Kitchen well equipped so we didn’t have to eat out so many meals during our 8 day stay. Neighborhood felt super safe with lots of people walking dogs and enjoying the sunny days. Also close to Minto Brown park for runs and the dog park. Saturday market at capital was super cute. House has lots of charm and we had a really great stay!

I loved this home! It was exactly as described in listing and much much better than description. It is extremely well appointed. The patio by the stream is relaxing and beautiful. This home is impeccable. It’s the best VRBO I’ve ever visited!!!

The house was very nice, and the patio, overlooking a stream, was outstanding!
Because the central AC is not zoned, it was not very effective. Since there are no screens on the windows, we could not sleep with the windows open. The only issue with the house was that it was stuffy upstairs at night.
Other than that one problem, which was helped with a fan, it was possibly the best VRBO rental (out of many) we have ever visited. The kitchen was very well equipped, and the patio alone makes it an outstanding rental.

Very relaxing outside area for breakfast. We were elsewhere for other meals, but inside dining and living rooms were also comfortable for hanging out.

We were in Salem for a few days to attend our son’s graduation from law school. We were even more impressed with this home once we actually saw it in person! So beautifully restored! The grounds and landscaping are equally beautiful and the neighborhood was nice as well.
The kitchen was well stocked, the house was spotless, and communication with the caretaker to the property was easy with quick responses.
We would definitely return to this rental if ever back in Salem!

We loved everything about this property inside and out! We will definitely stay here again the next time we come to Salem. They had everything you could possibly need from A to Z. Before you go to the store, check all the cabinets and drawers, if you forgot it, it’s probably there. Didn’t think you would need it, they have it. We no longer have dogs, but this place is perfect for 4 legged friends with a sunroom that can be closed off and a fully fenced yard. It did take a day to find the kitchen garbage can because it was inside a cabinet where you would not expect it to be located.

This place is truly a gem. Best vrbo experience I have ever had. It’s comfortable, beautifully decorated, has everything you need, and the outside space by the creek is to die for.

Such a treat to be back! Has been a restorative trip, as always. It truly is the perfect place to slow things down…and eating dinners on the patio with the babbling creek have been wonderful.
Thanks for sharing your lovely place 🧡

Wonderful Weekend!
I have rented many homes for short stays but none have been as well equipped as this home! I call it a home, not a house, as it felt like more than just renting a house. It felt like home. The property manager was amazing. I felt like he was a friend a phone call away so I actually ended up sending him notes to tell him we arrived, how great the house was, and to let him know we had left. It is a beautiful home that is very well maintained, it is very clean, and very comfortable. I highly recommend it and would stay again for sure!

Lovely home
We genuinely enjoyed our stay. The kitchen was well equipped for whipping up my college student's favorite dishes from home (we were visiting her). The yard was beautiful and we were so happy the house welcomed our dog (who really wanted to visit her sister at college). The house was comfortable, charming, and beautifully renovated and decorated. I hope we can stay again!

Excellent Home Away From Home!!
We had such a great experience! House was actually better than described 😃 so cozy. Views and sound of creek were incredible. Jay, the host, was so helpful and quick to communicate. He even left us a fresh container of organic milk and a dozen organic eggs to start our trip. So thoughtful! We will be back for sure! Can’t wait to stay there in the summer.

Great Place to Stay
What a wonderful place to stay. So impressed by the remodeling that has been done. The modern features in this classic home are just outstanding. We stayed during a major rain/wind event which prevented us from enjoying the backyard along the creek, but will go back in the summer so we can have that experience

Fantastic house
Fully remodeled and modern home with beautiful furniture and appliances. Towels and bed linens are nicer than my own home and king mattress is very comfortable. (I didn’t try other bed.) One full bathroom is upstairs with bedrooms, and second full bathroom is downstairs. Kitchen has everything you need and more. Highly recommend!

My husband and I stayed 2 nights at the Daniel S. Yoder home; gathering our adult children from north and south for a meal and holiday gift exchange. Jay was extremely hospitable and met us upon arrival. Gave us a tour and made sure we were connected to the wifi and had everything we needed. Our family loved the beautiful décor, efficiency of the kitchen, and flow of the space. Football fans congregated toward the tv room while others appreciated the large dining and living rooms with a gorgeous view of the backyard and creek that flows by. After festivities wrapped, I enjoyed a soak in the deep bathtub. The house is dog friendly, even has a basket of toys and drawer of dog bowls. Cute, quiet neighborhood close to a park. Highly recommend. We will be back!

An historic slice of heaven
Enjoyed spending Thanksgiving week at the Daniel Yoder house in Salem. Nicest rental we've ever stayed and our dog loved it too! The kitchen was so well-stocked and all the extras made it quite homey. So clean and comfortable..
No complaints. Easy walking to downtown and Black Friday shopping. Would definitely stay here again if I needed to be up in Salem

We really love this house.
We love this house! This is our second stay and it didn't disappoint. Very clean and comfortable, super accessible to all things downtown too. The only thing we don't like is the couch in the T.V. room. It so uncomfortable! This is a small complaint when stacked up to the overall experience. We will use it again next October for our annual trip to Salem. Thanks for having us.

Happy to have stayed there
Great property. Really charming place. Very clean. Very well appointed and maintained. Central location. Quiet at night. Nice, nice back yard with gas grill.
It is an old house. Plaque by front door says built in 1896 or something like that. Lots of modernization and upgrades. Fully equipped with kitchenware and bedding, etc. New washer dryer in basement.
The caretaker, Jay, is super nice and helpful.
Be aware: the house is all wood, so when you walk around it does creak and groan (i think its charming, the kids thought it meant it was haunted). The yard is beautifully maintained, but the price for that is that Monday mornings at 7:30 or so the guy with the weed whacker and blower is outside making a lot of noise for half hour or so.
Very nice place. I would go there again.

PERFECT! Beautiful, clean, relaxing historic updated house!
What a great place! We arrived at night so there was a key waiting for us on the porch. Lights were on inside. It was immaculate and nicely decorated. Outside we could see a pretty garden and hear the creek.
When we woke up and saw the creek from our upstairs bedroom we were really pleased! The back patio along the creek is big and even has a gas grill and standup heater. Garden is beautiful with yuccas and beautiful hydrangeas. Perfect for drinking a cup of coffee and reading a good book.
There were super nice perks of a dozen eggs, fresh blueberries, milk for coffee and great choices of K-cup coffee, but we decided to try out the owner’s recommendations of 2 breakfast places (Word of Mouth, Patty’s Off Center). Both fantastic (go early to WOM if you don’t want to wait)! The house is quiet, super comfortable, 2 full baths. If you prefer to cook at home there’s EVERYTHING you need. Pots, pans, knives, utensils, spices, etc. I even made homemade salad dressing with the supplies on hand.
After a day of sightseeing we picked up supplies at the nearby Safeway and fresh fish from Fitt’s Fish Market (recommended by the owner and also spot on!) and grilled up a meal on the gas grill outside. It was as comfortable and satisfying as if we were at home. The house is historic but is updated and clean, comfortable, with all the amenities you could want or need and a beautiful relaxing back creekside patio. It was PERFECT!
