Island dreaming
Our upstairs unit at Cowan Palms was terrific. Not 5 star but clean, comfortable, fully equipped and one minute from the beach where we lazed in the mornings reading and fishing, and had champers and canapes every evening at sundown watching the gorgeous sunsets. We ate dinner each night on the huge covered deck out the back. Cowan Cowan is an easy drive up from the barge at night even at high tide, a short easy drive up to Bulwer for coffee and ice creams and not too far from Middle Road to get across to the ocean side. We loved it and could have stayed much longer than our perfect week. We'll be back I reckon.

Nice comfortable place to stay, short walk to beach
Overall a pleasant clean place to stay on Moreton Island, but you will of course need your own 4WD transport. Locals are friendly, roads are terrible. Also be aware that while the kitchen is well equipped with stove, fridge and freezer, and lots of utensils etc, mains power is limited (all solar) so there is no cooling or fans. You either hire linen and towels at extra cost or bring your own. We had difficulty finding the place, due to a very poorly worded set of instructions, but locals helped us out. We would stay again.
