By far, the natural beauty is considered the most stunning attraction of Hatteras Island — from Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge to Hatteras Island National Seashore. One of the wonderful features that keep vacationers returning to Hatteras Island year after year is the unpopulated nature of the beaches. You can pull over on a deserted stretch of NC Highway 12, or simply walk the one minute from the Ivey Coast Beach House and find a piece of unspoiled shoreline all to yourself. During the fall and spring months, it’s possible to enjoy a long walk along the beach without encountering another person. The beautiful, pristine condition of the beaches ranks the Cape Hatteras National Seashore as one of the best beaches in America, and a routine entry on many top beaches lists, including "America's Top 10 Beaches" by the well known expert, Dr. Beach. On Hatteras Island, you’ll find no busy boardwalks, no restaurants or bars set up right on the beach. You'll simply find miles of sand and blue Atlantic Ocean with Dolphins swimming close to shore.
On the southern end of Hatteras Island where the Ivey Coast Beach House is located, Hatteras Village is known for its ties to offshore fishing. The village borders Hatteras Inlet, giving recreational and commercial fishing boats an easy route to the Gulf Stream and the inshore fishing grounds. Hatteras has several marinas where commercial and recreational boats dock, making this a great place from which to book an offshore charter. Hatteras also offers a lot more shopping these days, from art galleries to clothing boutiques. One of the Outer Banks’ newest attractions, the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum, is located here. The 'free' ferry to Ocracoke Island leaves from Hatteras Village.
The most well-known Hatteras attractions is the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, but other popular sites will get you up close and personal with the Native Americans who were the real first inhabitants of these island, teach you about how locals predicted weather years ago and about the courageous men from the U.S. Life Saving Service who went to the aid of hundreds of shipwreck victims. The island attractions are either free or charge a very modest fee. Only a short distance off Hatteras Island there are other wonderful places to visit, such as the Wright Brothers National Memorial and the North Carolina Aquarium. There is more to do here than you could possibly do in one summer! See our Attractions and Events pages to check out all the possibilities!
**Pool Heat is available for $450 for the week or $75per day if your stay is shorter, plus NC taxes. The outdoor temp (including the overnight low) must be 65 degrees or higher for the pool heat to run.
**A 6.75% North Carolina Sales Tax and a 6% County Occupancy Tax are required on all rental rates and are not included in the prices below.
**House cleaning upon check out, bath towels and sheets are included in the prices below, unless otherwise indicated. Beach towels are not provided, and we recommend you bring your own.
***The hot tub and pool are open from March - October. Hot tub also open November, can be opened for a fee December-February.
Fireplaces are for aesthetics only.
For the safety of our property and guests, we have one ring doorbell, that records audio and video on movement, on the front porch that faces the driveway.
***Starting in 2023, I will be moving down to the OBX and making sure that Ivey Coast is the best cleaned and serviced house on the Island. Shore Details has done a good job for many years with almost all positive comments from past renters. Now I'm going to take that to a new level of cleaning. Pool is cleaned before stay and checked once mid week.

The layout is great. The master suite is upstairs, with all other bedrooms on other floors. The kitchen is well equipped. The pool was nice. Playing pool (downstairs) was fun. The walk to the beach was short enough that you never thought about it, you just went.

Our entire family enjoyed the beautiful house and pool and location so close to the beach. We are very thankful to our host (Mark) and for the thoughtful gift we received when we arrived. Although we did have a plumbing issue the first day, our host responded immediately and had it fixed right away. Mark does everything possible to make your vacation a peaceful, comfortable and relaxing one. We are very grateful and enjoyed the time we spent at Ivey Coast In beautiful Hatteras!

What a great week we had! The property was very clean, well stocked with everything we needed in the kitchen and other spaces, comfortable furniture including beds and couches, fantastic outdoor spaces with the pool, hot tub, and porches with scenic views. We had no problems at all and enjoyed our stay to the max. All of the items for babies/toddlers were helpful- high chair, baby gates, crib/pack n play. My kids and husband loved the arcade game and I really enjoyed the comfortable outdoor furniture to sit and read in peace and quiet. The location was great a close to the marsh walk, ice cream shop, and quick walk over to the beach, even the 1 year old didn’t mind the walk. All-in-all we had a great time and would definitely come again.

Awesome. All I needed was my beach towel. I’m a chef and the kitchen had more utensils and equipment than I do so if you like to cook don’t bring a thing. Pool was amazing,I could go on and on. Excited for next year.

We enjoyed this home and its location very much. It was close to the beach, marinas, ferry service, food markets, rental facilities, gas and shopping. The pool, hot tub and game room were a huge success with our group as well!

The home is beautifully maintained and was perfect for our friends/family summer vacation. The owner Mark, kept us updated on everything we needed to know for the property and even watched out for potential hurricanes. Perfectly located, close to the beach and having the pool/game room was an added bonus. Hope to be back next year!

Ivey Coast was an awesome house with any and everything a family small or large would need to make their vacation in Hatteras wonderful. Plenty of bedrooms each with updated TVs. Pool table and arcade was a hit, as well as Xbox. Great kitchen and living room area with adjacent sitting area with screened in porch along with plentiful deck area and sitting. Pool was private and large and the kiddie pool was a plus for our 2 year old or just chilling. House has an easy walk to beach and just a few minutes away in quite neighborhood. Mark was an exceptional host from before checking in to after and even allowed an early check in. We appreciate you sharing your home and hope to visit again.

This is an excellent place and close to everything. Pool and hot tub awesome. House very clean and new furniture. The neighborhood is very well kept, quiet and relaxing. Mr. Foster is the best person to work with and very accommodating. I definitely plan to return and highly recommend/urge others to book your vacation here. For the price you can't go wrong.

Mark was an outstanding host who provided great communication in advance of our visit.
We arrived to a very clean home in a great location. We had a few minor questions throughout the week, and Mark responded within a few minutes. If you’re looking for a no-nonsense, relaxing week in Hatteras I’d recommend Ivey Coast.

Great location (ice cream shop across the street). Beach access easy, kid friendly, good pool, hot tub was a hit, complete kitchen, would return again. Front door had to be carefully shut or latch wouldn’t catch.

Wonderful location just a two-minute walk to beach. Fully equipped kitchen and the AC works like a charm.

Ivey Coast is clean, cozy and convenient. What a great way to do Hatteras for the first time. We had no issues with the house or any of the amenities...AC works great, kitchen is adequate, both refrigerators work well. Beach is crazy close

Nice neighborhood, great pool with a baby pool, good overall design for families. This house, like so many in Hatteras, is showing wear and needs some updating but a new owner may have plans to do that. We had a good week and enjoyed riding to our favorite spots by golf cart! We did not need to cook much but the kitchen is well stocked.

The place was awesome, clean, lots of room and accommodations. Short walk to beach and icecream.
5.0 / 5.0
First of all the owner is amazing, we had a family emergency and he was kind and caring and accommodating about that.
The house was spacious and exactly as described. The pool was warm when asked to be heated, just know if the weather is below 65 degrees the pool heat won’t kick on which makes sense if you plan to go in the off season. Hot tob was amazing, all of us enjoyed all parts of the day. Kitchen has all the appliances necessary for cooking. Beds are comfortable and clean. Tons of games for the kids. Beach is just a skip away, and there are lots of fun shops and restaurants, coffee shops, etc to get your treasures to bring home.
The only recommendation I would make would be to put a queen in the 3rd bedroom on second floor and 2 bunk beds in the full/twin first floor.
There were beach chairs, pool toys, really everything you would need. And there’s an ice cream shop with yummy treats within walking distance which was a huge hit. Bring your own beach towels (which we were told) so bring your own. Overall a wonderful stay and would come again. Thank you Mark :)

We loved staying at Ivey Coast. Spacious house with plenty of rooms/bathrooms, large table to gather around for meals, and well stocked kitchen. We all loved the game room, especially the kids! The hot tub and pool were in great working order and used during the week. No complaints here- there was something for everyone and best of all was the incredibly short walk to the beach. It was so nice to be able to easily go back and forth from the beach to house. Mark was responsive to all questions prior to our stay and accessible if we needed during our stay.

Wonderful experience. Lots of space to spend our Mark answered every question and was super accommodating. With a large family, I forgot garbage bags so this was a first run to the local store. We enjoyed the hot tub, games and bikes. We did have to put air in the bike tires and use the wd40 on the chains, but that was available. Loved the sensor lights for safety at night on the steps. Thanks Matk

We stayed at this property the week after Christmas and had an excellent time. The pre-arrival communication was terrific and the house was clean and ready for us. The hot tube was large and clean and the kitchen had everything we needed. Highly recommend!

Ivey Coast is everything we wanted it to be and more. Large enough to spread out but not too big. Multiple floors of activities. Amenities that all the kids loved. Close to the beach and our favorite ice cream shop. Beach toys, bikes, and other items already there and ready for us to use. We will be back!

House as described. Lots of room. Felt like a secluded beach getaway. Lots of things to do. Close to ferry for ocracoke.

House had everything you need. beds were comfortable. Loved the hot tub. was a very enjoyable vacation. Well sized for 11 people. We had a wonderful trip. My only complaints were we had no lights on the stairs inside and it was dark. Electrician was there for 2 days and they still were not fixed. Then we had a leak in a bathroom and the plumber never showed up. We called for fresh towels since we used the towels we had to clean up the leak and was told that they would have them there in a few hours and it took them over 24 hours so we washed the ones we had so we could bathe. But none of these things ruined our trip. My one complaint was the outside grill needs replaced. The phone numbers that were sent to me need updated.

The house is very clean. Had a number of problems . No lights for the stairs and down stairs bedrooms. The lights were fixed but not the stair lights . If you don't do well climbing stairs this house is not for you. This house is geared for young people. It needs elevater in the worst way. It was very difficult carring groceries up two sets of stairs. The kitchen is on the top level. Overall nice house.

Hiller Family Three Peat!
Our third year at Ivey Coast and it was another year of Family Fun! Despite the thunderstorms the weather was great and the pool was still warm in the afternoons (we just rely on sunshine for pool heating). The beach was peaceful as usual and we love that it’s so close and not at all crowded. Happy Belly Ice cream, Red & White grocery and Lee Robinson General stores are so conveniently close to the house! We also enjoyed the hot tub, pool table and fully stocked kitchen utensils made meal prep easy! Unlike other 6+ bedrooms rentals, the Ivey Coast also boasts bathrooms off of almost every bedroom- which our teens appreciate! We hope to go back again next summer if possible. If your family is looking for a relaxing vacation by the beach or poolside this is the place for you! Thanks again for hosting our 3rd Hatteras Holiday, Mark!

Great stay in perfect location for family gathering
Our family loved this location and the owner was very responsive and helpful. Positive features include hot tub and pool. This home had great spaces for gathering and outdoor areas-we really enjoyed the decks. The kitchen was well supplied. There was a huge selection of board games in the home as well as books. We were surprised to find so much gear and toys for the beach. Everyone loved crab hunting and having s’mores on the beach too (don’t forget to print a permit). The best part of the house is the location-it’s a short walk to the beach and close to great restaurants and some fun destinations. We loved taking the ferry to Ocracoke, visiting the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum, and renting kayaks from Slash Creek Outfitters. Everyone from ages 7-68 enjoyed a program through Hatteras Island Ocean Center. Favorite restaurants and shops-Orange Blossom Bakery, Dancing Turtle Coffee, Scratch Made Snackery, Hatteras Sol, Red and White Grocery, and Buxton Books. We loved our trip to Hatteras and made great memories at the Ivey Coast House. Thanks for the amazing stay!

Wonderful stay!
Ivey Coast was a wonderful get-away for our family vacation! The home had plenty of space and everything we needed for our three families. This is a quiet area of the OBX but has everything you need either within walking distance or a short drive. Mark was extremely helpful and timely in answering our questions and providing details about the house and area! Between the house and amenities, location, and Mark...the Ivey Coast is a wonderful vacation experience!

GREAT PLACE
This was the perfect house for us and our family. Our kids are getting older all 21 + and are moving in multiple directions. We wanted a good family vacation where we could all be together. This was the perfect place. Everyone got to have their own bedroom with bathroom which was a super plus. The beach was so close and the pool and hot tub were a big hit. Being able to cook meals was extremely beneficial . We will definitely be going back and highly recommend.

Perfect!!
This is not our first time at Ivey Coast and this will certainly not be our last. There are so many amenities that aren't listed. The kitchen is well-appointed. There is an electric griddle and waffle iron...what other houses provide these items?!?! Perfect and quiet location VERY close to the beach.

Family Vacation
Mark was a truly wonderful host !!
Every question/request was answered in a timely fashion and you can tell Mark clearly cares about his home and his guests. This was by far one of the nicest pet friendly houses we stayed in and we will most certainly come back.
The house comes with everything you could possibly ask for, a well equipped kitchen, complete with waffle maker, grill griddle and mixer, comfortable mattresses (really important for people with back issues!), new outdoor grill, Hot Tub and Sauna. Can't advertise the Sauna enough!
This house is suited for every age group as well as a rainy day. My adult children (husband and children >20) enjoyed the pool table and Arcade games, it comes equipped with baby gates (we used them as pet gates), bed linens and towels.
Thank you again Mark, we really had a wonderful time and are looking forward to future trips!

Perfectly imperfect
This house is designed for fun and relaxation. It’s the rare find that delivers more than it promises. It’s not perfect—Some features need to be fixed or replaced - ie. both the gas fireplaces and the sauna have issues - but overall it’s a fun, welcoming, roomy, comfortable. well organized and equipped vacation home. Spotlessly clean. We especially loved the hot tub, pool table, wide beaches two minutes away, decks on every floor, and the spaciousness that let everyone have their own retreat when they needed it—and their own bathrooms! TV in every bedroom. Comfortable mattresses. The video games were fun and the kitchen has everything you need to cook up a storm. The host was consistently responsive and helpful. For our family it was imperfectly perfect.

New Years beach trip
We had a great week at Ivey Coast! The weather was great. The pool table and hot tub were a hit. The short walk to the beach was nice. Communication with Mark was quick + pleasant. Check in and check out was a breeze. Connor's Market a short drive away had all we needed to cook brunch and dinners. We look forward to staying again soon!
