Spacious, comfortable house with ample beds and a luxurious spa bath. Great location for families, close to city and wineries. Highly recommended!

Was lovely. Plenty of space and beds. Convienient to attractions.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, was a perfect quiet location, easy access to all the sights we wanted to see in the North. We do feel the listing should be updated as there was no bbq and one of the photos shows outdoor furniture which was not their. The weather was just perfect whilst we were there and it would have been nice to enjoy the outdoors more. Overall the house catered perfectly for our large adult family group.

Fantastic place, comfortable stay, about 20mins from the city. Recommended for families!

Lovely front garden, nice quiet location. Good location for sorounding wineries. Over all OK but a few small things could have been better. Needs a new ironing board cover. My son was not happy that the lack of padding on the board left a patten of the board on his good shirt, I had to use a towel over the board for my clothes, the cover is also rather stained. There was no nonslip mat in the ensuite shower, my partner had to use the hand towel to stand on as base was slippery. Few cobwebs and spiders in corners. Needs a few new pillows as some where rather lumpy. Also needs a night light at top of the stairs to remind you of the different floor level when going from bedroom to the bathroom during the night (son forgot about it and tripped) Was disapointed at the lack of eating facilities in the area for daytime dining, had to travel into Launceston for breakfast. Im not sure I would stay again, if so then would only be because its a good size for family groups and is close to the Launceston airport.

First floor TV remote not functioning, so child was not happy. Overall stay was good.

We stayed for a week with our family - it was peaceful clean comfortable and just could not have been better - thanks for a wonderful week. The upstairs and downstairs sleeping areas worked so well to give some separate space to the combined family. Everything had been thoughtfully done. We really enjoyed it. Thanks so much.

Van Dieman's Cottage is in a quiet location just out of Evandale. It is really close to Launceston Airport. The cottage has plenty of room and even luxurious spa bath in the upstairs bathroom. Condiments were provided in the kitchen. Upstairs bedroom was a good location to try and see an aurora.

We absolutely loved Van Diemens Cottage. Our family of 6 had plenty of space, the teens loved the bedroom options. Communication with hosts was excellent. Beautiful village location, with the general store an easy walk and Launceston not too far for eating out and more. Highly recommend.

Clean, comfortable, homely.
We felt very welcome as soon as we walked thru the door. A very clean and comfortable home that suited all 7 of us perfectly. Would not change a thing, just perfect. I would actually rate this a 20/10 if I could..

The house is very well set up for family with 2 BR downstairs and 2 upstairs with heaps of beds. A good size living area and ample couch space to spread out. It was warm when we stayed and there is A/C downstairs but not upstairs - this is not a major problem as the evenings usually cool down in Tas and the house has excellent air flow via screened windows. It was great to have a kitchen that was stocked with the essentials - salt/pepper/sugar/tea/coffee etc and there is plenty of crockery and cutlery plus cleaning products and garbage bags - all the things that many properties omit. Also enough toilet paper and toiletries for our 4 day stay. The cookies and chocolates were a nice touch. We have stayed before and will do so again. Thanks Sarah and Pieter

It was very clear to us that the owners have addressed former crticisms from earlier visitors. The cleaning was perfect; there was plenty of consumable supplies made available for us, because we were a longer stay than normal there were extra towels left, etc. We had a great stay.
The location was perfect for us too; 20 mins to Launceston, 7 minutes to Launceston airport, 15 mins or so to each of the surrounding towns.
Evendale also turned out to be a lovely little village in which to stay - the Market on Sunday is a must and the pubs are welcoming.

One coat hanger, 4 towels with 2 of quality others could not tell colour , one stained. No reading lamps. Bathroom access via others bedroom. No manuals for dishwasher, stove top, microwave. Stove top top did not wrk. Phoned host and he told us right side not working so try left. It was an induction one. Told new part coming but not his fault we could not use it. If we did not have our own electric frypan we had no means of cooking dinner. Only one double power point in actual cooking area so could not make toast cup tea and use microwave at same time. Fridge froze food on 2 top shelves. No broom or dust pan. TV upstairs not working and host said it must be turned on at TV and not remote but again no information about this. Yellow plastic on floor in two rooms. Blue bedroom upstairs has a heater connection that would not pass health and safety standards. Shower has no shelf for washing items. Some items in pantry out of date. Working TV only showed 5 free to air channels. No information about further access.Normally hosts provide a box of tissues, some milk to get started, perhaps so foil or gladwrap .Nothing. If you sleep upstairs in the green room need to access bathroom via blue one across a peculiar step section. If you turn light on you wake up those in blue and green. We did not expect 5 stars but did expect a working, kitchen and some reasonable facilities. If you are not a family privacy could be an issue. As an aside the lady telling us the door is closed the door is open was very strange.

We had a great time at this place. The communication was super easy and quick and the house looks exactly like it does in the pictures. The neighbourhood is very conveniently located and although it’s a lively neighbourhood the apartment is tranquil! I would absolutely recommend to stay there!

While the house is in a good location and well suited to a large number of people staying, it is the small things that let it down. Like: a permanent wet patch on the lounge room floor; instructions for the kettle but not the dishwasher, stove or washing machine; coffee provided for a percolator ( no instant) but no percolator; a lack of utensils like tongs; no bath mats; only one replacement garbage bag; no where to put soap, shampoo etc in the ensure shower except on the floor; pubic hair on toliet seat before it was even used; and the pegs for the clothes line strewn all over the ground. A shame really because we were disappointed rather than delighted.

Loved everything about this home. We were a group of 7 Adults and It was perfect for our requirements. The beds were all comfortable. It was warm and 3 toilets were great. We had no issues at all. Just housekeeping could be a bit cleaner. Window sills and inside drawers and cupboard need a good clean but overall the best location for a wonderful stay in Evandale. Thanks to the owners for great communication and a lovely stay in this big and well equipped home.

Overall, the facilities and location of this house were excellent for what we wanted it for. However we had a few niggles about housekeeping matters. Firstly, returning after a wet afternoon we couldn’t get the heater to work. I thought it might be the batteries in the remote and went into town to get some new ones, but we eventually found out it was switched off at the main. (Why?)
Secondly we ran out of toilet paper. There was a spare roll in the ensuite, but the amount provided was not enough for five women! Is this a Covid thing – skimping on toilet paper?
Thirdly, there were no coat hangers in any of the wardrobes and no hooks anywhere to hang jackets on.
But we had a pleasant weekend and would recommend it. Just take your own coat hangers and extra toilet paper!

The property is different from the photos. The furniture seems like it is someone’s leftovers. Stove is difficult to use as is the dishwasher. The shower in the en-suite doesn’t drain properly and while this is something that can easily be fixed it was inconvenient. While they provide an area for kids I feel it more aimed at primary school age children. We are travelling with a 10 yr old, 2yr old and 1 yr old upstairs was suitable for the 10 yr old but not fit for little ones there is no gate on the stairs, I wasn’t expecting one as is my responsibility as a parent to watch my kids not the owners, there is a door that can separate the kitchen, lounge and dining area from the rest of the house which we kept closed just worth keeping in mind when booking accommodation with small children. The property is located close to Launceston airport and would be great for a 1 or 2 night stay. We stayed for 4 nights with 6 adults and 3 kids it was a little cramped, but that is on us not the property as we are a large group we should have looked for something a little bigger. The property is nice and comfortable but needs some TLC and some updated photos. I had to contact owners a couple of times and they were helpful and quick to respond while they do provide a travel cot it wasn’t put up which again is not a big issue but we did have to ask where it was , it is stored in the wardrobe in the main bedroom but I think when you are booking it would be helpful if are told where the cot is stored so you can use it without having to disturb the owners,Unfortunately the house was not as clean as it could have been, some of the dishes and pots and pans hadn’t been cleaned but again it is up to guests to make sure they clean up after themselves but might be good for cleaner to check I know at times there is limited time between bookings and there is a lot to do to get the place ready for next group. The fridge base is broken with foam insulation exposed. Not an issue with the house but we returned late from day tripping to find the hose run under the rear hedge to the dwelling behind and the hose had popped off the tap leaving the court yard flooded. Also the garage was unlocked I’m guessing the cleaner forgot to lock it not an issue for the house but worth noting. Overall our stay was ok with a few little changes it would be a very nice place to stay for families with primary aged children not a lot of privacy in bedroom upstairs near bathroom.

This house is very clean and beautifully presented. The beds are lovely, the bathroom are very clean and the kitchen well stocked

A newly refurbished house. Everything is so new and clean! We love our stay especially the price is so reasonable. A bit too cold for winter stay as there's only one heater in the living room area and no electric blankets. If the house could be more equipped with heater as well as electric blankets, the guests will sure come back for a warmer stay.
