Super big room, comfortable bed, good location, and very nice breakfast. Nice and tasty options in the restaurant.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but there were too many small negative things:
- The hotel has a sister building just crossing the street, where breakfast is served. Every single time we (and other people) had to wait to be seated, with the staff just wandering around asking their supervisor who goes where…
- If you call yourself a “hiking hotel / Wanderhotel” you cannot serve breakfast at 08:00. Hikers like to start their days very early.
- The restaurant is superb in terms of food quality, but the service is not matching the level. Whereas the staff is (mostly) polite and professional, we had to wait until a first course was served (on the table) to be able to order wine, which took too long to arrive (came with the second course). That you don’t expect from a Michelin-awarded restaurant…
- While an amuse-bouche is of course a prerogative of the restaurant, either it’s served or it isn’t. We got it the first night, whereas the other two nights we didn’t get it, but tables next to ours did (people who arrived before and after us).
- The staff in general was very polite (except for one rude waiter), but all seem a bit lost. It’s a management problem, not a staff problem.

it is a cozy little hotel in the Black Forest, perfect for a night’s sleep after a long hike. The restaurant at the hotel was cozy and had great service and the breakfast at the sister hotel next door is the best I have ever had. The ability to use the amenities at the sister hotel make this a great value for the money.
The pictures on Booking are a little misleading. The hotel is actually on a main road. The pictures you see of the building set out in nature, overlooking mountains is actually the panoramic hut, used only for dining, that is also owned by the same company.

Family-run traditional Black Forest hotel situated next to the river Murg. Free convenient on site parking. Good location with access to complimentary public transport. Excellent breakfast buffet served at the sister hotel next door. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Decor is a bit faded in places. Rooms at the front can experience some road noise when the windows are open.

great location for my travel. excellent food.
staff was a bit stretched and short on the floor. took a long time to get attention for check in . my room was well appointed Gower the exhaust fan in the bathroom was noisy and had used air from the kitchen come in as it appears that the same exhaust duct was used.

Breakfast buffet was very good, available in the 4-star sister hotel across the road. Similarly, access to the sister hotel's wellness area (swimming pool, sauna etc) was offered. Staff without exception were friendly and very efficient. It was great to see the hotel owners taking the time to move amongst the guests and check that everything was satisfactory. Restaurant options and food quality were excellent.
Minor point, but the decor in the Wanderhotel was a little tired and dated in parts.

I stayed at this hotel as part of a hiking trip through the black forest. I ended one of my hikes at the hotel and it was perfect. The staff was incredibly friendly and the whole hotel was beautiful. The breakfast was phenomenal. The only downside is that it's a little pricy compared to the other places I stayed during the trip, but I it was worth the cost for how nice the room/ bathroom/breakfast were.

It's nice to hear the river. Breakfast was ok. The staff was very friendly.
I had expected the hotel to be in the middle of the fields, like a picture suggested (the hut on the picture appartently belongs to the same owners), but it turned out to be on the main road of the village, with the train station at the back. The room and bathroom didn't smell fresh.

Location and staff. Our balcony looked over the Murg river and the sound was lovely! The large double room was more than enough. Schwarzenberg surrounding area so picturesque. Fabulous breakfast buffet next door at the Sackmann Hotel. Plan to go back!
A little dated. Bed mattress a little soft. Bathroom towels thin and a scratchy.

Dogs are unproblematic, even in restaurant and breakfast room.
Beds are not comfortable. No WiFi.
