The cottage is charming and is close to the city centre. The bathroom is bright and has been updated while maintaining period features. The balcony area outside the kitchen would be great in warmer weather. The kitchen has almost an over abundance of crockery, cutlery etc. for two people. The bedroom available to us was on the small side - not enough space for both our suitcases. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Stayed 2 nights. Great decor, very comfortable, close to all amenities. Would definitely consider returning and recommending to friends.

Burnie Brae is an immaculate cottage. The linen and towels are good quality and there are even bath robes. We particularly liked the spacious bathroom, which has a large window and a double shower. You can take your pick of tables for dinner as there are three: one in the living room, one in the kitchen and one on the verandah.
The cottage is a 10-minute walk from the Carrington hotel and restaurants, but the walk is steep so consider this if you have mobility issues.
Or you could stock up and stay on-site and enjoy all the charms of Burnie Brae.

We absolutely loved our stay at Burnie Brae! It’s a fabulous base for exploring Katoomba and surrounds. Lovely quiet residential street and an easy walk into town. The colonial house is beautifully decorated but also very relaxed and homely. Fully equipped, big country style kitchen, comfy lounge and bed, and the double rain shower was luxurious! Warm central heating was barely needed as the house retains the heat well. The garden is gorgeous too. The owner Mike was great in explaining everything and left very detailed, useful information and recommendations. 10/10

The property had everything you could wish for. It was of course a beautiful Edwardian property with all the romance of that era but with the convenience of the modern age. Burnie Brae felt like a real home. The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of crockery, cutlery, pots, pans and glassware. The double shower was pure decadence with plenty of hot water. The heating system was efficient and kept the home warm and cosy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Early period home well restored. Lots of attention to detail. Tucked away on a side street in Katoomba, we had a full featured kitchen, a bath with heated floor complete with twin showers and rainfall shower heads. Nice private bedroom with wonderful bedding. Large living room and adjacent dining room. TV has DVD with library, Netflix and local channels. Lots of azaleas and rhododendrons on the property just starting to bloom. (This was early November). We were very satisfied with the accommodations. On street parking was perfect.

Katoomba Gem....♥️
Burnie Brae offered us a most delightful stay in Katoomba.... elegance from a bygone era....the house dates from 1908...and while the furnishings capture a past era, the home has all the modern conveniences. A beautiful sitting room and dining area are the centrepieces of Burnie Brae, with chandeliers and sofas. A rich red theme in the paintwork and furnishings add to the elegance. A farmhouse kitchen, with an eat-in dining area is warm and inviting. An enormous range of dinner sets, glasses and cooking utensils cover all your needs. As it was bitterly cold the electric blankets were a welcome addition....as was the central heating system- it was terrific.
My communication with Michael was extremely cordial, as I had a few questions re the operation of the heating panel and the television.
The grounds of Burnie Brae are delightful- beautiful trees and plants.
All this within a few minutes walking distance from the Town Centre of Katoomba....
We look forward to a return visit...

Every star deserved!
An obviously much loved property, we felt instantly comfortable and welcome on arrival. Across a ‘snow-capped‘ wintry weekend, we couldn’t have been warmer, thanks to superb central heating, and the kitchen was perfect for an in-house gourmet feast. Thank you, Michael, for providing a mountain retreat from which you reluctantly leave feeling joyous.

Grand stay in Katoomba
From arrival to departure all was taken care of for our totally relaxing 3 nites break. The house was such an elegant set up, my husband loves old world properties & this beautiful place was fabulous. All was well from dining to relaxing in lounge with a book, or checking out a few movies such a lovely relaxing space. The bedroom & bed was very comfortable, quiet, pleasant & spacious, with lovely furniture. The kitchen was a dream to cook in & diverse interesting dinner & glassware, which we loved. Also provisions for drinks tea, coffee, & other items provided.
