About this house rental
This is a beautiful older house on the west side of the island on an outcrop of land in the middle of Megali Amos bay. The main house is 2 bedrooms and sleeps 6. There is a separate private studio that sleeps three more people for an additional $175 a night.
My parents pioneered development on the now most desireable west side of the island, so were able to select the best location there. The house and natural beauty of the location has a magical property that visitors and local people all acclaim as the best on the island. There is a semi-private sandy beach, an isolated beach accessible only to swimmers, rocks from which one can dive into the ocean, and even a secret underwater grotto. There are pine trees for shade and olive trees. The peace and quiet are totally relaxing. The clear water is great for snorkeling.

This is a comfortable and well equipped villa in a really special location. The listing's photos really don't do it justice. Amazing swimming and snorkeling right from the foot of the garden. The remote location adds to its charm and privacy. The drive to/from the main road along rough tracks along the steep hillside is not for the faint hearted but is perfectly do-able in a family car (and very scenic)!
The host is very helpful, communicative and friendly - 5 stars all round!

This is one of the best locations on Alonissos. If you love blue sea, rocks, pines and remotedness from busy beaches, this is the place to go. The house is in better condition than the photos may indicate. Yes, the hand-made wooden furniture is 50+ years old, but fully functional and emanates the history of the house. Otherwise the equipment is up to modern standards (AC, dishwasher, etc.). We enjoyed our stay very much, just a bit suffered from mosquitoes, which were more frequent this summer. The locals, who maintain the house, don´t speak English, but we always reached understanding at the end:-) Many thanks Joy to let us spend our holiday in your lovely house!

It has to be seen and enjoyed to be believed. We joked that it looked like a witness protection program of sorts. Incredibly smartly designed villa, using nature in a clever way, enjoying the best location and position I have seen in the Aegean and giving you the feeling that you are in a movie - without being pretentious or trying hard to impress. Once you read the story behind its construction (won't spoil it), you will understand how and why it came to be so special.
Wanted to visit again this year (yes, it was so good), but it was not listed.

Joy's house is in a unique location, surrounded by pine trees and overlooking the sea toward sunset.
Some of the most beautiful beaches on the island can be reached directly by swimming or walking and you can also take beautiful walks around. The house is comfortable and hospitable. And Joy is a very helpful and punctual host. The cleaning lady is nice and thorough.
We had a great time, wonderful holidays!
