About this house rental
Come enjoy the 2024/2025 snow season! OFFERED JUST A FEW TIMES A YEAR (nuevavidataos.com)
Casa Nueva Vida (New Life), also known as Casa Encantada #5 was combined with #4 to make one stylish space years ago. This is THE jewel property of the Casa Encantada compound with approximately 2,000 square feet of art filled space and ample outdoor space for lounging, dining or enjoying the shade and nature. Even while sitting in the hottub.
Greetings! You have found THE perfect Taos home for your visit, especially if you wish to stay in someone's HOME and not just a rental property with typical rental property furniture.
We are a well traveled and PARTICULAR couple who are seeking like minded individuals who understand high end furnishings and art. We are offering our beautiful, two-story, adobe casita within an easy walk to the Taos Plaza, restaurants and galleries, but only to a few select couples or small groups per year.
Dating back to the 1700's and sitting on land once farmed by the Tiwa tribe of the Pueblo Native Americans, our casita is an authentic example of early adobe structures. Our main structure dates back to 1910 as part of a family compound. The property then became a Bed and Breakfast in the 1980's named Casa Encantada, and then wonderfully updated in 2005 into several individual residences, retaining the Casa Encantada name.
Our special adobe home was originally two adjacent Casitas which we purchased separately and then combined to provide approximately 2,000 square feet of fabulous interior space and two fully- stocked kitchens.
Consisting of two master-suite bedrooms with private baths, a front sunroom with a fold out sofa and 1/2 bath. Enjoy our two fireplaces, one wood burning and one gas. The gas one can be used year round, the wood burning one is in the downstairs bedroom. You'll definitely find extreme detail at every turn. Enjoy our private, spacious outdoor area with plenty of room to appreciate the high desert climate. Soak in our large outdoor hot tub and watch the stars at night. Or have dinner under our beautiful portal that makes for great outdoor dining in the spring, summer and fall. Light the oil lamps in our fire pit and enjoy a glass of wine before dinner.
If you want a true Taos experience with privacy and serenity, this is the place. Our home and possessions are important to us, so we are particular. Although we would prefer parties that would not include young children (under 10), each offer would be considered on a case by case basis. We love children, we just need to have further discussion if younger than 10. Sorry, although we love them, NO pets are ever allowed. No smoking on premises. No parties or gatherings are allowed in our home, and only approved guests may enjoy it. NO daytime visitors other than those approved on the contract.
Casa Nueva Vida ESPECIALLY welcomes couples and offers consideration when the party is just two people depending on availability and we consider parties up to 4 adults on a case by case basis.
NOTE: Our renters normally stay at least 31 days or longer and you will see special discounts for long term rental. If you need a lower priced long term rental (31 days or more) or if you have friends/family that are coming at the same time, inquire about the casita next to ours owned by our daughter and her husband. Their studio is listed on VRBO as Casa Encantada #3. #636014 and is right next door, so easy back and forth access.

We stayed and worked remotely in Mike's house in Taos for 6 weeks and had a terrific time. The house is located in an old, tree lined neighborhood just a short walk from both the taos plaza in one direction, and the foothills in the other. The house itself is so perfect, it almost feels like you're on a movie set. It's a beautiful adobe home filled with art and all the modern conveniences, and the outdoor space is large, very private and lovely. We spent many enjoyable hours in the hot tub between the aspens, sitting on the covered porch and reading in the sun. The kitchens (there are two!) Are well equipped, and we cooked almost all our meals due to covid. Mike was responsive and helpful when we had questions and the neighbors were friendly and quiet.
We took advantage of many outdoor activities in the area, including hiking and camping in Carson, Wild Rivers and traveling to White Sands, Petroglyphs and Great Sand Dunes. NM is a treasure trove of beautiful nature and we can't wait to come back.

Taos Home
Beautifully appointed classic adobe home. It was a wonderful place to stay. And we spent lots of time in the place as a result of the COVID-19 and the closure of all the ski areas. A great place to be sequestered. The owner was very helpful especially with accommodating my electric vehicle. I can’t wait to go back.

The home and location more than delivered! It was far better than we hoped. Easy walk to the plaza, restaurants, shopping and all that kind of thing. The owners are very helpful and communicative and provide all the info anyone who has or hasn't been to Taos would need. Wish we could have stayed longer! --Thank You!

My family of 4 stayed for a Christmas getaway. While Mother Nature May not have cooperated by bringing us buckets of snow everything else was perfect. Not only is the home itself beautiful but it is filled with stunning furnishings and unique artwork. The 3 bedrooms and living spaces are comfortable with lots of areas to mingle or have alone time, and with two full baths and one half bath our family with one teen and one “tween” was able to get ready for the day without being on top of each other. The kitchens (yes, 2) had everything we needed to cook breakfast and a special Christmas Eve dinner. We were within walking distance of many shops and restaurants and had an easy drive to Angelfire for snow tubing and skiing. Sipapu and Taos Ski Valley were also a very short drive away. The fire pit was awesome and while we ended up not using the hot tub (crazy!...still don’t know how we didn’t get in) it was clean and warm and if perfect size for 4. Mike and Lola were great hosts with suggestions for meals and ideas for things to do. Very responsive and left detailed instructions for everything. I could easily see coming back for a romantic getaway, a great place for close friends to hangout together, or bring my family again. Thank you for sharing your special home with my family, it will always be a wonderful memory for us all.

My family and I stayed in this beautiful, artistic home over Spring Break. First off the house, is stunning - with this history of Taos Pueblo's and Mike and Lola have done an incredible job of decorating with unbelievable art. It was like being in a gallery, yet cozy and intimate and perfect for a family of 5. My young girls love the hot tub (we did too). We also made a fire every night outside and made smores and told stories. The location is perfect - super easy to get into the cute galleries/stores and about 20 minutes away from the ski lift (depending on how my husband was driving). Mike and Lola were incredibly thoughtful hosts! They have a bar set up, in case you have forgotten or ran out of a bottle of wine. They only ask that you replace with the same or better bottle. Mike continued to check on us throughout the week. It was hands down one of the best visits and we will be back!
