Very friendly staff who bought us tea when they realised we didn’t drink coffee. We loved the modern feel of the rooms. The bathroom and toilet were brilliant!
Unusual to have breakfast delivered to your room.

This little hotel blew us away, the minute we stepped in and we were met with kindness and enthusiasm from Ryo. My sister and I have traveled extensively and it takes a lot for us to have our expectations exceeded both in facilities and service. This room was truly such an amazing value.
The people & service: Ryo and Yohei (spelling?) were so incredibly kind and helpful, providing suggestions, organizing the takkyubin services for us, and they both exuded a genuine care for our wellbeing. We were provided complimentary beverages upon our arrival, and they were consistently available to answer any questions we had. The room was always refreshed, with all the amenities and we truly appreciated returning back "home" to our room after a day of adventuring.
The room: What a beautiful place for us to call our home for 8 days! We got a room with two full beds which was perfect for my sister and me. There was a nice "living room" area with a small couch and coffee table, plus a kitchenette which was equipped with a Balmuda toaster oven/microwave, mini fridge, coffee/tea setup, and sink. Down the hallway (seriously!) was the bathroom which was very large with two sinks, a nice shower, and a large hot tub; the toilet was located in its own room which was very convenient. Also, the toilet room always played classical music when you lifted the lid which was a pleasant touch ;) The bathroom was fully stocked with luxury brand soaps, that were replenished. They offered the softest Jinbei (Japanese pjs) - we ended up buying a set upon departure because we liked them so much!
The location: This hotel was in the perfect spot - just far enough outside the "touristy main areas" which provided wonderful walks every day. It was centrally located near bus and train stations, a quick walk to Pontocho, Gion, Nishiki Market, Terramachi Street Shops, and all the multi-floor malls.
I really can't think of anything. This particular room oddly didn't have a closet, so perhaps a closet space (we only had a few hangers) would have been the cherry on top; there was sufficient space to tuck our suitcases in the corner.

Beautiful gem of a hotel - we felt very spoiled - a perfect set up for a family as there was a large main bed and two futon beds on a tatami platform behind shoji screens allowing for privacy for our family. The bathroom was spectacular, with a jacuzzi tub, huge rain shower, double sink and loads of fun amenities/products including luxury skincare. Sleepwear was also provided. The kitchen was gorgeous. Even the toilet played music…The gentleman at the front desk was delightful and also responded to texts promptly. Free breakfast of gourmet hot dogs and coffee was a nice touch - very tasty too. Location also great as a short walk to the main shopping area and Nishiki market etc.
Very minor - the bottled water was very cool but from Spain which can’t be very eco-friendly. Also, I wish there were more hooks/rails for towels in the bathroom. The timing options of the breakfast could have been a bit more flexible (eg earlier) but this is a minor quibble.

Best place we stayed in during our whole trip!! Free mini bar, and the most wonderfully friendly staff (Ryu in particular). I want to live there forever!!
Nothing at all

Outright the best small hotel I've ever stayed at. We stayed at the suite and it was so spacious. The hotel room was high tech, from its door mechanism to its toilet that opens up as you open the door and auto flushes. The bathroom was spacious with a couple sink and complete with a jacuzzi to help re-energize you after long days sightseeing around Kyoto. The location of Hotel Muso is also very central, with Nishiki Market and Gion being a few blocks away, 7-Eleven across the street and lots and lots of local eateries around the hotel. Cannot recommend this hotel enough and will definitely book this hotel on our next visit to Kyoto.
Nothing, everything was amazing.

The communication with staff was exceptional. A smooth check in process with Ryo being very welcoming to show us our room and help us navigate the surrounding areas. The staff were very helpful and always willing to have a chat with us about our day to ensure that we are comfortable and enjoying our stay. Having breakfast brought to the room every morning was a lovely bonus.

This was truly one of the best stays we've had, ever, and it is because the staff went ABOVE and BEYOND to make our stay wonderful. The hotel itself is also fantastic — perfect location ~10 mins walk from Nishiki Market, extremely comfy beds, beautiful and high tech bathrooms, etc. But it is the kind and helpful staff that really blew us away. They took so much time and effort to help us with making food reservations (which in Japan can be difficult because you need to call/speak Japanese). They did this even for a meal we wanted to have in Kobe (they called multiple places I suggested, and when they couldn't secure us a spot, they found another FABULOUS restaurant and booked us there). Top notch hospitality and kindness. Thank you, thank you, thank you! A special thank you to Ryo who called 5 sushi places to finally secure us a last minute dinner spot.
Everything was fantastic

This hotel has the nicest and most helpful staff I’ve ever experienced. The rooms are lovely and have everything you need. We enjoyed our stay here more than I have any of the “fancier” and much more expensive places I’ve stayed. If you’re staying in Kyoto, stay here.

The room was very clean and comfortable. The owner, Ryo, was very friendly and welcoming. Every time we passed by the front desk the receptionists were kind and helpful. We were served breakfast each morning.
My only complaint is that the pillows could have been more comfortable: they were very flat.

Everything was great here. The amenities were modern and the decor was cozy. The staff at this hotel went above and beyond with helping us and catering to our needs. Free breakfast, helped with reservations for restaurants, explained where key sightseeing sites were and how to get them etc. Cannot recommend enough!

Exceptional stay with welcoming and helpful staff. The room was spacious and comfortable with all necessary amenities provided every day. On top of that a tasty free breakfast and drink was provided. You can choose from several options.
Especially when traveling for work you can just relax without worry.
The beds were very comfortable with a soft and harder pillow both available.
The area was quiet and just a short distance to the next train stations, not to mention the Kamo River.
A convenience store is just around the corner as well.
It was my 4th time in Kyoto and this was by far the best accomodation I had during those stays. Not in small part thanks to the staff.
Minor caveat was that the fridge in the room was quite loud. But I think you can unplug it if not in use.

I feel obliged to leave a great review for this splendid hotel. The staff are really very friendly. I was travelling with my partner. The owner is very kind and very helpful. He even accompanied us to ship the suitcases through a neighbouring company. Without him we would not have succeeded. The hotel offers all the best services and delight you with a complimentary breakfast. Daily they offer the possibility of redoing the room. The position is very central to all the services the city offers.
Unfortunately, the room does not offer wardrobes.

The room is super clean. The facilities are modern and enjoyable. We finally felt relaxing after several days' travelling. All hotel staff are friendly and helpful. We would love to come back someday. A bonus is the hotel is closing to a Michelin Ramen restaurant we randomly run into.

Very personalised service, makes us feel like home. They pay so much attention to detail and really go out to help with our requests. Very good location, very good amenities closeby and easily accessible to the essential transport to go to all parts of Tokyo. The room ammenities are very good - from the nespresso pod machines to the Maison Margiela Replica shampoo/soaps. We felt very connected with the staff.
Nothing!
