About this apartment rental
Directly in front of Melbourne's beautiful Botanical Gardens, with views also of the Bay and just a 10-20 min. stroll to the Art Centre, Flinders Street Station, Southbank, Melbourne Casino and the centre of Melbourne, the apartment highlight is the location and views.
Additionally it is 50 metres (45 yards) from a tram stop, which can take you to St.Kilda beach in a few minutes, or take it the other direction through the city central.
On each corner (to left and right) are supermarkets that are open every day, closing late at 10:30 and 11pm.
Your reservation includes one car private secure car space, inside the same building as the apartment. Park car and catch the elevator up.
The bed is a 100% latex mattress, King Size bed. 100% latex is hypoallergenic, super comfortable and movement from one person in the bed is not felt in the slightest by the other.
The balcony has an outdoor furniture setting (2 chairs and table) where you can sit and take in the sun set and views. The left side has views of the Botanical Gardens and the Shrine (a building of remembrance for our fallen soldiers), and to the right side of Melbourne Bay. Waking to Garden and Ocean views, while being by the heart of the city, I find a unique and relaxing experience!!
Includes 1 secure under-cover car park (parking in the same building at no additional cost), and use of the Gymnasium (which incidentally also has views of the Botanical Gardens).
Free unlimited wifi internet. No Smoking in the Apartment.
Modern apartment with many brand new appliances. Such as a washing machine, sandwich maker, coffee maker (grinds coffee beans - beans supplied), cooking facilities include an oven, stove and microwave. Fully furnished and ready to go!
Address: 8 Dorcas St. Just a building back from the corner of St.Kilda Road and Dorcas St.

This is our second time staying here, which in our case says everything (we rarely return to a place unless it's really impressed us). Once again, everything about the flat was wonderful. It's perfectly located and really well appointed with everything you need, and very comfortable. If I had to split hairs, I'd again look to the location of the lock box being a bit awkward for short peeps (like me), but otherwise we love the place!

Overall property was good. The view was fantastic and so close to tram stops, coffee shops and groceries.
There are a few problems with a person who has mobility issues.
Some items needed a little maintenance eg the tap in the bathroom over the sink needs a new washer. One of the blinds keeps rolling down after you get to a certain point

The positives re our stay are location, view and bed. We had stayed here previously two years ago.
1. If you have to step over a bath to have a shower from a safety aspect you should have a hand rail or at the least a none slip mate.
2.The seating for the tables are simply far too low and need replacing. Same could be said about lounge/settee.
3. There was no dish washing detergent - do the owners really expect people to put 2 plates and 2 mugs in the dishwasher each time they use them? We did not use the dishwasher - that being said there were utensils left behind by the previous occupants in the dishwasher.
4. One bedroom lamp - one night someone who sleeps over on the Dorcas Street side of the bed is going to get up and fall over, break an arm, hip whatever. invest in some side tables with bed lamps.

The apartment was lovely but getting in was a little difficult as we could not find where the lockbox was located, we asked at recetion and they helped us find it
The apartment was clean but the dishwasher had not been put on so we had to sort that, there was enough storage for the 2 of us even though there are cupboards with other stuff in.
The apartment is on a high floor so the views are lovely of the Botanical gardens which we did enjoy walking around, the tram stops are just at the end of the street.
I would stay here again.

we liked the appartement on the 12th floor, the height and the ongoing wind kept us from staying on the balcony, not for a minute without wind unfortunately.
Access to the tram direction downtown or wherever more or less in front of the door, Supermarktes nearby.

The property had a fantastic view of the Botanical Gardens and buildings to the South. It was clean, functional , well equipped and comfortable.
One downside was the signing in process. The details of unit access were not sent when expected. The key collection in the laneway was not easy to comprehend or access, particularly in pouring rain and the leaving process was confusing too, seeing we had a car.
Clearer instructions and communication would have been appreciated, however the unit is lovely and we had a good time in Melbourne.

Couldn't have asked for anything better. The proximity to the city and just about everything else was great and no hassle getting access to the apartment

A lovely, bright apartment in a quiet street, close to Melbourne city/downtown, transport and Bot gardens.
Everything worked as it should, all spaces were clean and well-kept, no noise from inside the building or outside traffic, bed was comfortable. Coffee shop next door is terrific too.
Would highly recommend.
Thanks

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Communication with host, Vern was easy. The apartment was clean, welcoming, spacious and well presented. The view from the balcony and location was excellent. Would love to stay here again in the future. Key collection and drop off was also very easy and well explained. Thanks for the great stay.

The property at Southbank was perfect for our stay, I wanted to be near the War Memorial and Botanical Gardens and they were just across the road, you could see the Memorial from the balcony.
The apartment is handy for the city which is an easy 20 minute walk or you can hop on the tram which is just around the corner. If you want to go out for breakfast there are a few places very close by.
Even though the weather left a lot to be desired we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Melbourne and this apartment was perfect for us.
One slight problem, I think the check in procedure is difficult and if I hadn't been able to contact the owner I would never have been able to find the lock box which contained the key.
I would book this property again if I came to Melbourne.

Loved this apartment. The location is brilliant and pretty much in the arts precinct. It's also close enough to the South Melbourne market to make self catering a gourmet option - mainly because the apartment is so well equipped. Bed is wonderfully comfortable, and of course that view! Indeed the only thing that wasn't perfect was the lock box location (and this only applies for shorties like me). I could barely reach and couldn't see the keypad. Thankfully I did get rescued by my partner who arrived after his meeting (and is taller) so not a big hassle for us, but it could be a real problem if there isn't a tall person staying. Having said that I'd absolutely stay here again in a heartbeat (I'd just organise to arrive together). Fabulous little holiday in a fabulous flat in a fabulous city.

We stayed at the apartment while there was a cold spell in Melbourne and were taken aback with the lack of heating. One small heater and an Aircon that doesn’t heat made it a very uncomfortable stay.
There is a lot of clutter in the main room on top of the cupboards. There was no storage/hanging space in any of the cupboards as taken up with linen and blankets etc and one cupboard was literally filled with huge amounts of cleaning products.
The odd bits of crockery felt like they were hand me downs and left overs. No toaster. Light bulbs missing. And no lighter for the gas stove.
A piece of carpet in front of stove looked old and not very clean.
All in all it needs clearing and cleaning and definitely heating as Melbourne does get cold and the lack of heating made for an uncomfortable stay.

It was the perfect location, a lovely apartment well appointed, so close to the tram stop and an easy walk to Southbank. We would certainly return and would wholeheartedly recommend this great apartment.

We stayed for two nights and loved how close it was to the tram line and city centre! Very convenient with an IGA next door and two cafes on the same street. Good kitchen and comfortable bedding.
The only downside was on arrival it smelled strongly of chlorine/bleach. It was reassuring that the apartment had been cleaned but we needed to leave the door open for a few hours.
Vernon was always detailed and prompt in responding to messages.

Excellent position with easy access to transport and the local shops.
Small details let them down such as... key placed too high so that the combination numbers can be easily read by people of short stature.
Shower /Bath needs some hand grip to make it safe to get in and out for those with more limited mobility.
A plug for the kitchen sink would be an advantage.

Well set up apartment. Clean, comfortable, surprisingly quiet at night considering so close to St Kilda Rd. Great location. Short walk to Gallery, Southbank and CBD. Lovely to walk in The Domain and Botanical Gardens just across the road. Close to good coffee shops and Sth Melbourne markets.

Location was perfect for walking. 15-20 minute walk to Yarra River where there are a lot of good restaurants, short walk to the queen Victoria market; a must see.
