About this apartment rental
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION on DONNER LAKE, TRUCKEE: enjoy it's pristine beauty all year round! Donner Lake is called the "Jewel of Tahoe" because it’s so clean and unspoiled. There's nothing but a little sand (or snow) between you and the beautiful lake in a serene setting with panoramic views. Located on the "SUNNY SIDE" of Donner Lake. Enjoy the sun all day long.
* COVID: Housekeeping is following cleaning guidelines set by the state and county health dept’s. They use bleach, a true disinfectant.
Returning Guests contact me before you book, you may be eligible for a discount.
* HOLIDAYS: Plz scroll down. Government ID required. Bringing your Boat: Proof of insurance required. (onsite rental water-crafts already include insurance)
SUMMER: lots of lake activities and we also have a seasonal dock, gas BBQ's, chairs, tables and chaises for your use, Memorial Day - Labor Day and a slip for your boat or your rental boat. Rent a watercraft at the marina right on the compound. They rent all sorts from jet skies to paddle boats to ski boats and party boats. Great fishing too. A 200 yards of beachfront. More info on request. *Occasionally a train goes by across the lake on the mountainside and it's great to see and hear as it charges along.
WINTER: we have four major ski resorts nearby, some smaller ones and some cross country locations too. Cross country skiing areas too. Sugar Bowl is the closest major resort, 10 minutes, Squaw Valley, North Star and Alpine Meadows, 15 - 20 minutes. There's a smaller, easier, less expensive one across from Sugar Bowl called Donner Ski Ranch and the rustic/casual restaurant there also, open almost year round. * TIP - If you're beginner skiers, why spend the money for a big resort when you won't use most of it. Go for a smaller one for less cost. Lots of sledding around the area. More info upon request. For lunch and dinner there's the Lakeside Pub, just two blocks west of us, a great place to get a bite to eat mostly year round and a seasonal, cute little ice cream parlor (tacos too) across the street from us and a small convenience store. For breakfast there's Donner Lake Kitchen, 3 minutes east of us.
NEARBY ACTIVITIES: Besides the lake, Casino's are 30 minutes away at Stateline and Hyatt in Incline Village, Donner Memorial State Park and museum, 4 minutes, Reno Nevada, 40 minutes and Lake Tahoe/Tahoe City/Sunnyside, 30 minutes. Kids zone in town with lots of activities. 6 miles of abandoned train tunnels with artwork on the walls from artists all over the world, 4 miles west of us. Hiking trails and smaller lakes everywhere. 1/4 mile west is the lakes largest public beach and there's a one tennis/pickle ball court there too. Organized rafting down the Truckee river or do it with your own raft or canoe for free.
LAYOUT: We have two bedrooms with two and a half bathrooms and a loft. Both bedrooms have a balconies off of them. Baths have a total of 3 sinks, 3 toilets, 1 shower and 1 shower/tub combo. One bedroom has a queen logger bed and the other bedroom has 1 Queen and 1 Full size bed. The loft has a sofa with a full size, foldout bed. The townhouse sleeps up to 8 adults, with two to a bed.
KITCHEN is fully equipped with service for 8. Coffee maker (no grinder), toaster oven, 4 slice bagel and bread toaster, 2 "Crock Pots" (one large, one small), plenty of pots and pans, stainless steel double oven, microwave oven, dishwasher, fridge and a newer washer and dryer. Salt, pepper and some other spices are there.
HISTORIC OLD TOWN TRUCKEE: is a 10 minute drive where you'll find quaint little shops to browse through along wooden boardwalks and restaurants of the old west from "a time gone by". People love visiting this part of town. Check out the great visitor center at the train station with plenty of brochures and info on more things to see and do in the entire region from train rides to whitewater rafting, to skydiving and much much more. The passenger train passes through daily for travelers getting on and off in Truckee. One of our favorite large restaurants is "Bar of America" for food, drinks and live music on weekends. It's quite a happening place! There's also a wine bar across the street and many, many other places to eat.
MODERN TRUCKEE as I call it, is a 6 minute scenic drive along the lake. In town you'll find large chain stores for grocery, pharmacy, hardware, firewood, gas stations, restaurants, coffee shops, fast food places and more. One of our favorite restaurants there is Jalisco's for casual, excellent, authentic, fresh MEX. (located next to the 7-11 store) During these difficult times things can change rapidly. If you think you may have to cancel your trip due to covid or otherwise, we suggest you purchase “travelers insurance” so you are covered. Referral insurance co. contact upon request. WORK from our place via our strong/fast WIFI with Zoom and conferencing capability.
FALL and SPRING is when it quiets down on the lake. You'll have the lake, pretty much to yourselves. It’s a wonderful time to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of serenity on the lake. There's really no way to describe it, you just have to experience it for yourselves. It truly is a beautiful spot. HOLIDAYS: 3 night minimum on: Labor Day (Fri-Mon), Thanks Giving (Wed -Sat), Presidents (Fri -Mon), MLK (Fri -Mon), Memorial (Fri - Mon) and July 4th requires a 4 night minimum. *On occasion we may ask that you move your dates forward or back a day or two so we don't get stuck with one lone vacant night that we can't book. Rates may change at any time unless you already have a reservation. Our rates include up to 4 people, additional people are $50/night. Maximum occupants is 8, all ages count. The minimum age of the responsible party must be at least 28 years of age for men and 26 for women. Early arrival and late departures may be available for an additional 50/hour fee if housekeeping can arrange their schedule to accommodate you. Plz make that request ASAP for your best chance.
HANDICAPPED: Unfortunately, our townhouse is probably not accessible to lower extremity handicapped people because our entrance is up a flight of stairs on the second floor and no elevator. Our townhome is "cozy and rustic" like a cabin and we like it that way which is different from our house in the Bay Area suburbia so we charge less than some others do. We truly hope you will enjoy yourselves by making yourself at home in our cozy, comfortable and rustic home.

Family really enjoyed our stay here. Charming rustic mountain spot with great Lake Views. We made good use of wood burning stove for cozy nights in a blizzard. Comfy beds. Easy access. We’d stay there again.

We needed a place that was close to Truckee but comfortable when we were just hanging out and we found it! Kitchen is well stocked. Parking is easy, and Tor was always just a text or a phone call away if we needed him.

We all loved this condo. It was perfect for a getaway with my daughter in laws❤️. The lake view is amazing as is the mountains surrounding the lake. Great spot away from the town itself but close enough if you need to get supplies or a bite to eat.

We had a lovely stay here. Donner lake is an underrated gem of Tahoe. This property is very well located and multiple watersport rental’s literally next door. Clear instructions and the host of this property was great too. While rustic, the space is cozy and functional. Location can’t be beat with best ice cream in Tahoe across the street. Would recommend for sure.

We loved our stay. The place was perfect. Everything you could need on vacation. Clean, plenty of room and nice furniture. Great location, directly on the lake. Couldnt ask for better. Watersports available right there if needed. Very relaxed, quiet area. So picturesque. Wish we couldve stayed longer!

We Girl Friends from high school get together yearly in various locations. Always loved Truckee and found this place to work well for us. The view of this condo was awesome looking out on Donnor lake with snow still on mountains. The condo has a very rustic mountain feel which made it very cozy. Weather was ok and after a few thunderstorms we did get some sunshine. The park is close by to do some hikes. Small convenience store and ice cream store walking distance were nice. We were short on a few towels but message Tor to add for future guests. Over all a nice stay.

This is the perfect location and a delightful well-maintained property. The large living room windows view right out onto Donner Lake. The kitchen was well equipped. Tor, the property manager and likely the owner as well, was easy to communicate with. He gave us detailed directions on everything we might want to know. Also he has a great sense of humor. Several in our family group who stayed near by want to rent this place next time!

We had a wonderful stay at Tor’s condo. Condo was easy to get to, clean, fantastic view and had everything we needed for a comfy stay with our two young children. We will definitely be back!

Love this place. Great spot for skiing at boreal and relaxing with home made cooking. Can just stare out the window all morning and afternoon, the view is spectacular. Great well stocked kitchen and dishwasher is a plus! Get wood for the fire place- toasty and wonderful ambiance. Rustic cabin great with in winter, hope to try out in summer!

Our family of 4 had a wonderful time at this condo over the winter break. The location is perfect, right on Donner Lake (an amazing view!), and is just a few minutes away from downtown Truckee. We thought the condo was clean and in very good condition, and once we got the wall heaters correctly set, very comfortable. Tor was clear and helpful with the check in process, and communication was fast. We hope to stay at Tor's condo again!

I rented this property for my mother and sister's family to stay on a larger group vacation. This review is from their experience:
Tor was attentive and easily reachable. The location was beautiful with a great view, sandy beach and plenty of space to congregate as a group outside. Tor was apologetic and understanding when contacted re: excess mess and broken items in the cabin (not detrimental to our stay, but felt important for the owner to be aware of). The cabin was rustic as per description and as per recommended in the rental documents, we were not "picky." It was a comfortable stay for 3 kids and 2 adults. Please note that as per the listing, cost of stay is based on amount of people (anything above 4) and not based on the 8 person occupancy. We failed to properly cite this and had to come up with a hefty difference in price a week prior to our stay. Overall, we had a great time and were comfortable at this location.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this great condo. Tor's description of the property as "rustic" set our expectations, but we actually didn't find it that rustic. The condo is spacious and airy. The lake right out the door adds to the peacefulness of the property. We'd definitely return!
