About this cottage rental
'The Bread Oven' (Le Four a Pain) is a Wendy House for couples - a romantic, picturesque old stone building set away on its own complete with masses of character, including oak beams, a terracotta tiled floor and the beautifully restored original oven. No, you don't have to cook in it, just turn on the feature lighting! Outside, the lovely garden terrace is centred around a mysterious 'roll-right stone' and has a BBQ, table, chairs and parasol.
The Ground Floor has a picture window overlooking an orchard and the swimming pool and the comfortable living/dining area has a cafe table and chairs and a sofa to watch DVDs on a flat screen TV or listen to the modern music tower. The adjoining kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher and fridge. The shower-room is compact but modern.
Set above on a galleried wooden mezzanine floor, up some fairly steep steps is a double bed with a window overlooking a magnificent, mature walnut tree. The cottage has full electric central heating and is an ideal and extremely popular choice for two people.
Le Moulin de Boutineau and its three charming fully restored cottages lies in Indre-et-Loire in the tranquil countryside heart of the Loire Valley - but is not remote, just 2 kms from the famous medieval town of Loches, with its own chateau, restaurants, café’s, bars, shops and lively twice-weekly market.
Spend idyllic days relaxing around a sparkling 12x6 metre heated swimming-pool with nearby orchard activity area or explore the 15 acres of magnificent tree-lined grounds, fields and woods surrounding this peaceful old watermill dating back to the 1730's.
If you enjoy carp fishing there are carp (15-40 lbs plus) in a glorious private 2.5 acre Moulin Lake. The three delightful oak-beamed cottages sleeping 6, 4+1 and a romantic 2 can also accommodate an exclusive party of 13 and all have their own garden/patio and BBQ area, as well as cooker, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, TV/DVD/stereo music tower, full central heating and access to washing/drying facilities, the swimming pool, hot-tub, bicycles, badminton and table-tennis.
Carp Fishing at Le Moulin de Boutineau: There is the idyllic, private 2.5 acre Moulin Lake where you can fish for carp (mirror & common 15-40 lbs plus) and some large tench. It has level, easy walking access around the entire perimeter which is lined with a wide variety of mature trees, flowers and the abundant wildlife includes kingfishers and red squirrels. It is a perfect, tranquil setting for carp fishing. There are five marked swims (max. 4 anglers) plus an accessible island, and we also have a range of standard carp fishing equipment for hire as well as a selection of quality baits available. Our beautiful, pristine fish will give you quite a fight, but are of course, just for catching, photographing and releasing again!
Cost of Carp Fishing during the whole season from March to November is 150 euros per angler per week or 50 euros per day. You must be staying here to carp fish on the lake, making it all a great combination of value, comfort, accessibility and privacy. It is possible to carp fish the lake exclusively, but only as a group of 2-4 anglers booking the Fisherman's Cottage during the early/late periods of March-May and September-November. Ask for details.

Well cared for property with lovely gardens and fishing lake. Kind hosts. Cozy cottage. No WiFi in the cottage which was a nuisance as we had to stand in the courtyard to receive it - not good in the rain! The hot water was plentiful with good pressure but scorching hot - could be dangerous.

A haven for peace and relaxation
What a fantastic break, staying in a great gite, surrounded by beautiful French countryside. Jude and Julian were fantastic hosts, always on hand to answer any questions. And the fishing was amazing - I smashed my personal best twice in a week. For a true relaxing break, with great fishing, this is the place to be. We will definitely be coming back!

What a gem this place is if you want chilled out, relaxing pool, great food and fantastic carp fishing. Julian and Jude are great hosts and have got the balance just right, brilliant to deal with, there if you need help and local knowledge otherwise let you get on with it. We first visited in July and had such a great time we came back for week over the August bank holiday staying this time at FouraPain. This is great accommodation for two people, cosy, romantic and really works well. Jude's meals are amazing, can be booked while you are there, and Julian gives the story behind his wine recommendations which makes a great way to spend an evening. in addition to fishing to we took some time out to visit a vine yard recommended by Julian and spent an afternoon on Segway in Lochs', both experiences were really enjoyable. The fishing is amazing and we both smashed our PB's, catching a series of 30lb+ carp all in beautiful condition. Can't recommend this place enough whether
you are into your fishing or not. We are already planning our trip for 2017.

BEST HOLIDAY EVER!!!!! what a lovely place, area, and people! My partner and I went for 2 weeks to get away from the hussle and bussle of the city and to do some fishing and were recommended this place by friends who have stayed a number of times before and we couldn't be happier. It was the best 2 weeks...Couldn't have asked for anything else.
The house was lovely and quaint, clean and well kept, and the grounds and the gardens are so lush and well looked after, and the whole area included with the rest of the property was lovely and clean and we had everything that we needed.
The lake itself was wonderful and the fish we caught were beautiful. Julian and Jude the owners were also so friendly and helpful and even though we have never been before it has felt like a home away from home...we are already planning out next trip out, sadly it won't come soon enough....Jude and Julian really made us feel at home, and I will struggle to find food as good as the meal that Jude cooked for us...we are still dreaming of the Peach Meringue and the duck in cherry Jus....
There is also so much to do within 30 mins from the property that you didn't feel like you were far away and the shops are right around the corner so you if you didn't feel like travelling you didn't have far to go to get the essentials...The markets in Loches was so awesome, and cannot say enough about the cheeses and the food in the markets...
In short, you can't go wrong spending your holiday here, it was well worth every penny!
See you soon Julian and Jude!!!

Having had such a lovely time at the Moulin last year, it took no time at all to decide that we wanted to return in 2015. We knew that we were returning to friends and that we would receive a warm welcome. Jude and Julian really do have a winning formula to ensure that you have a relaxing holiday. They offer help and advice about places to visit, restaurants and events to help you get the most from your stay. The Moulin is ideally situated to visit many places south of The Loire. The Four a pain is ideal for a couple and is cosy and comfortable. The pool is amazing, a perfect size and impeccably maintained. An evening meal hosted by Jude and Julian is an experience not to miss, Jude's food really is delicious. Definitely a good decision to return, though we were not in any doubt, and we are already making plans to return next year!

What a fantastic place, better than the photographs!!!
Julian and Jude are the perfect hosts leaving us to relax but readily available for any queries we had with a great knowledge of the beautiful local area for any sightseeing or simply a glass of wine and a natter.
The pool was very clean and a lovely size with loungers which we made full use of throughout our stay.
We stayed in The Bread Oven which is ideal for a couple in comfort.
Thanks to our lovely hosts for making our stay very relaxing.
We like to travel to different places each holiday but are considering returning to le moulin ! That's how much we loved it there.
In summary-book your holiday as soon as you can here, you won't regret it .

We had a very relaxed time, the owners are very welcoming and helpful, and offer some nice add-ons and the option of good quality meals to order. Lovely countryside setting, a great place to get away from it all, yet the other two holiday apartments and owners house mean you don't feel too isolated. Very happy to recommend.

Property was perfect for a couple. Right by the heated pool. Its so quiet and relaxing at this very special place. We couldn't get enough. One week wasn't enough. Fishing is excellent too. Very large fish! I set 4 new personal bests whilst I stayed for the week. This was only fishing short sessions. A great place to take a family. Would highly recommend.

I had a fantastic week of fishing and relaxing in this amazing venue. The setting is truly amazing (as was the fishing) with wildlife everywhere you looked. The accommodation was perfect, and was more than large enough even when my wife joined with her bags!! Its very conveniently situated to Loches although still far enough away to feel your in the open countryside. I will be visiting again next year.

I don't really know what to say about this place to do it the justice it deserves but here goes, from the moment we arrived we were blown away by the beauty of the place we all just looked at each other and agreed we had made the right decision on going there, the flowers we're in full bloom, sun was shinning absolutely perfect!!! We were then greeted by the owners who we all liked really nice helpful people and by the end of the trip enjoyed a glass ( or 6) of wine with them we were then walked around each cottage which have been renovated to an extemally high standard, very clean and comfy once we had sorted out who was staying were for me it was straight to the lake were again was blown away by the Beauty Of the place the lake is perfect so peaceful with some cracking fish I enjoyed a good week catching fish to 30lb however the fish won't just jump on the hook so a certain. Amount of thought is needed making it all the more rewarding!!! After sitting around the lake we then chilled out around the amazing pool and meeting up in the court yard to share lunch in the sun, to round the already fantastic week we had a meal cooked for us all on the last night followed by 5 or 6 bottles of wine!!! What a place lovely people! We are going to go back for sure!!!!!

This little gite was perfect for what we needed. Julian and Jude were excellent hosts. The meal that Jude prepared for us when we arrived (and the wine choice) was one of the highlights of our stay in France. Julian also gave us some terrific information on places to go and really nice restaurants in the surrounding areas. The gite is very compact but well appointed and sufficient room for the two of us. The location is secluded, but Loches is close by with plenty of shops, supermarkets etc closeby as well. There is a nice swimming pool and hot tub on the site which is nice to have available on the warmer days. Would recommend this gite as a base for travel to surrounding areas.

Perfect getaway
This Gite with a lovely pool, hot tub and beautiful surroundings, made for the perfect getaway this summer. Perfectly located, no more than an hour away from many attractions and sights. The hosts made us feel very welcome and had expert knowledge of the area, giving us great suggestions for activities and things to see/do. We would not normally visit a place twice but we would definitely go back! V & L

Lovely stay in a perfect location
As a young couple, we had never been on a holiday like this before, we planned to use Le Moulin de Boutineau as a base to explore the region, and weren't really sure how we would get on.
We had a fantastic time. On arrival we were welcomed, shown round (the hot tub, the swimming pool, the cottage and finally the gardens and lake) and offered a drink. It helped us immediately relax. We had pre-booked Jude's home cooked dinner (excellent value but an extra €15 for a bottle of wine) as well and it was a perfect way to start our holiday.
Julian and Jude were very friendly, chatty and able to give advice on where to visit in the region and despite doing this whilst serving us dinner always gave you the perfect amount of space and made it a really lovely romantic first night there.
We stayed in the bread oven cottage and whilst it is small it really doesn't need to be any bigger. There is a small tv, a selection of books and some board games but we spent our evenings drinking wine, chatting and planing our next day! The kitchen is small but we only cooked a couple of meals and so we found it to be perfectly adequate and there is a dishwasher! :-)
The complex, despite appearing isolated when you're there, is actually very close (a short drive) to two towns and the larger city of Loches so there are plenty of bakeries to sample nearby as well as supermarkets to stock up in. Loches itself was a surprisingly beautiful place for somewhere I'd not heard of before. It has its own long history, castle, keep and dungeons as well as a range of restaurants and shops within the cobbled medieval streets.
Further afield the long drives to the places we visited didn't seem long at all when you have stunning countryside and near empty country roads to enjoy on the way, and make sure you make time for a stop at a cave for wine tasting.
We finished our stay with another home cooked meal (and another bottle of wine!) and I should mention the delicious breakfast we enjoyed one day as well.
One final thing, as all prices are in euros, if you're coming from the UK (or another non € country) I'd recommend using transferwise to transfer your payment for the stay as they charge very low rates compared to the high street banks.
All in all we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it.

Top Fishing, beautiful lake, lovely accomadation
We enjoyed a fantastic week, the accommodation and grounds were beautiful. We had a lovely relaxing week away. While chilling by the lake we saw a red squirrel, kingfisher heron and woodpecker! My partner loved the fishing, beat his personal best 31.8 lb, he caught 10 in the week we were there.
We enjoyed Jude's cooking on the first and last night, the meals were delicious, top quality restaurant standard and very good value for money, complimented by Julian's excellent choice of wine.

A peaceful ambience and great hosts
My partner and I stayed in the small 'Bread Oven' cottage, and loved it! A real wendy house for adults! Jude and Julian were incredibly good company and welcomed us with a glass of wine at their courtyard table.
We ate from the home cooked menu on our first evening and it was the best meal we had! The mushroom starter is amazing. You must eat there at least once during your stay.
The pool is large enough for a swimmer like me to enjoy. The gardens, and the lake are beautiful and the whole place feels authentic and beautifully restored by a family who have clearly thrown themselves into a real French lifestyle.
Even Monsieur Jacques, the black cat, is friendly.
The location, so close to Loches, and yet so remote and peaceful is perfect.
Wholeheartedly recommended, and we hope to return for a longer stay soon.

superb break in the loire valley
We recently stayed in the smallest of the three cottages, Le four a pain. We had an extremely relaxing week.
The information provided on the web site does not do this accomodation justice. The setting is absolutley beautiful and peacefull, each of the cottages are superbly renovated and equipped, and the owners Jude & Julian are extremely friendly and great company. The welcome basket provided was excellent and recommended. The properties are only a short distance from Loches, with good shopping facilities.
We visited a number of Chateaux, as the property is well located in the heart of region. If you get chance do go to the 'son et lumiere' (night light show) at Chambord, it is absolutley breath taking and only around 5 euro's each.
We will be returning to the property in summer 09, as there is so much still to see and do.
The pool and Spa were great as the weather was generally good (one day around 37 degrees).
Excellent Holiday !
